my daughter attends Davidson college. Just got notice that tuition, room and board for 2024 is increasing 6.8%. This is good news because their costs increased 7.3%. Govt CPI is 3.5% but in the real world its double or triple that. The real world includes Japan.

Bankers had to know the interest rates could not stay that low for 30 yrs. Its hard for me to believe that a banker would loan money at a lock in rate at those lows rates. There has to be millions of Adjustable Rate Mortgages that are coming due. IMHO. Sadly if I am right then there are going to be a lot of foreclosures. According to the national debt clock the credit card debt is going up $ 489,000,000 every 24 hrs. That alone is scary . Our economy has ran on debt since Reagan. 😢

every year I go to japan and I measure the inflation based off the vending machine prices. in 2017 almost every drink was 100 yen or lower. Now almost every drink is 130 yen.

The dirty secret is most gold funds only will pay out in cash, not metal. The funds are hypothicated where the paper outstrips the bullion by like 90:1. Bitcoin and gold are the same, you don't hold it, then you don't own it.

They can either pay higher dividend in the devalued currency, or they can start paying in a different currency whatsoever. Maybe even in gold or a gold-backed currency, depending on how the situation changes by then. You can look up what happens to stocks in countries with high inflation. They don't go to zero, and in fact they typically go up in nominal terms.

@webcomber Actually it's Peter's customers that are getting scammed. He charges an 8% premium to buy his silly metal coins that have no benefits whatsoever. With bitcoin you just get on an exchange and buy the real thing for a tiny fee instantly and you get many revolutionary benefits. Plus, he says gold is an inflation hedge but it can't even keep up with the rigged inflation rate, let alone the real rate. Bitcoin is the only form of money where you can't get scammed because it has rules without rulers. With gold backed currency, it's just a matter of time until it FAILS.

It takes years of training to be able to print quality jobs and repair the machines when they break down. Most people couldn't handle the stress. Currently running a Heidelberg XL106. Well, and for the US government to stop printing! In the UK the government spend 13 years printing like it was going out of fashion, and now are selling at huge loses and tapping the tax payer for the bill. Imagine. What Peter says - the taxpayer is on the hook. Problem is that we have a small share of the population actually paying in. Massive amounts are on benefits. Lots are in tax exile. Others spend 40 years drawing down the pension (I am 40 and I don't expect there to be an old age pension when I am 68).
