also, setting up the modem with a Verizon Sim card, do you have to change the IMEI on the modem to match the Sim card that it was married too?

If you have any pre-sales questions like this, feel free to write to Richard and ask him info@thewirelesshaven.com I have not worked with the Verizon SIM but I know that Richard can get this device to work with any of the carriers.

Since you are on T Mobile Home Internet using Elsys 5G Amplimax Ultra, was there any special settings you had to do? or was it just a matter of installing the Sim card and it found it and allowed Internet access with out changing the IMEI info?, as for the T Mobile Home Internet Sim on my 5G Cheetah I had to change the IMEI Info on my 5G Cheetah to get it online, however I can take a T Mobile Sim from a Cell Phone and put it into the 5G Cheetah and it works with out changing the IMEI. thanks

Good question. SIMs and plans can be different and have different requirements. For example the TMobile for Business SIM just works with no adjustment. Ask Richard at info@thewirelesshaven.com if he can help.
@drewskatmyselfdotcom
@drewskatmyselfdotcom Месяц назад
I would say NO, it probably won't work unless you have the business sim that Peter does. The fact that you have to change the IMEI for it to work on the Cheetah means the sim is locked to the IMEI on your T-mobile router, so unless the Elsys can change the IMEI like the Cheetah I don't see how it can work. I'm sure Peter KNOWS if it does or does not work, he just does not want to SAY anything. (Liability maybe?)

This is for an RV that is located in a campsite in Sturbridge Massachusetts with lots of tree cover. Although T-Mobile supposedly is good in this area. I have mint mobile that runs off the same Towers and cannot use my phone at the campsite. I am hoping the antenna and router works well for me. I have a Winegard system that was installed by the manufacturer. It is less than adequate and burns through data. I'll be ordering the Elsys Amplimax from Wireless Haven. I'll be pairing it up to a GL.iNet GL-X3000 (Spitz AX) 5G NR AX3000 Cellular Gateway Router. Both of those units have dual SIM card slots. Which of the two units should I install the SIM cards? I was going to buy mint mobile and AT&T prepaid sim cards on Amazon. What do you think?
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 Месяц назад
Write to Richard at the Wireless Haven. He knows all the different plans out there. The AT&T hotspot cards look like they should be a good fit. I am not sure if Mint offers a HotSpot plan, so it may take some configuring. That said, I have been a big fan of the GL.iNet products but that Spitz AX is a gateway... You would have to set it up as router only and put the SIM in the Elsys Amplimax Ultra. I would get it setup before hitting the road, just to be safe.

I haven't purchased the router yet. Maybe that router is an Overkill or just a redundancy on top of the Elsys antenna? As you had said, I'll reach out to Richard

lol. I just bought and installed a Waveform QuadPro using T-Mobile's router. Would this product get me better results? (I'm guessing not enough of an upgrade to justify. )

This modem does more than simply give you a better signal. It does that and the best signal that I've seen but it also fixes the double net and carrier grade NAT issues that we're keeping many of us from playing some games monitoring video cameras or sharing data outside of her house because the IP address kept changing. This modem has a bridge mode which allows us to use the WiFi access point that we want (I use an Orbi mesh) without getting into a double NAT scenario. p.s., are you a beekeeper too? That is my other hobby🐝
@TeaBeeAdventures
@TeaBeeAdventures 2 месяца назад
@@PeterC408 So this lets you use port forwarding and keeps your IP address the same?
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 2 месяца назад
@@TeaBeeAdventures No even better. It goes into bridge mode so you get the IP address directly from your internet service provider but now your wireless access point can use DDNS to track changes using No-Ip to track all that stuff so games, servers, Plex, cameras all work
@TeaBeeAdventures
@TeaBeeAdventures 2 месяца назад
@@PeterC408 Well... damn. Like I said I just bought and installed the QuadPro, so I can't drop another $700 on it any time soon. I'm using a VPN with port forwarding to get around the limitations and of course I'm loosing speed because of it. Maybe some day I'll get a device like this instead. It's also wild to me that T-Mobile isn't doing this them self. If you really want to mix out the market they should be sending out technicians out to install hardware like this them self.

@PeterC408 , so you put the sim card into this unit and connect to a router that is in bridge mode, or just as a regular router, completely eliminating the Nokia gateway?

I ordered my Amplimax 5G Ultra on May 20th, received it last Monday, June 3rd, and didn't get the first email from Richard until 3 days later, the 6th. It's an ongoing process, and Richard is putting out emails according to the feedback he is getting from people who have received their units. If you haven't received your item yet, patience should be in order. Side note...life has gotten in the way since I've received mine, so I haven't had an opportunity to set it up yet...gonna be another few days yet. Looks like a nice piece, though.

Too expensive. Starlink is down below $400 now. When my business slows down this fall, I'm going to learn how to build a gateway from scratch. The parts are pretty cheap, I can probably sell them for less than $300 and make good money.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 2 месяца назад
Starlink is $120 a month, it's much slower and it doesn't solve all the different networking challenges that this one does. Keep in mind that this is a modem and 4x4 MIMO antenna in one. It's kind of a steal.
@HDHQDIRECT
@HDHQDIRECT 2 месяца назад
I just paid $800 for just a cell phone. Starlink makes up all their equipment cost losses on the monthly subscription. You will never get anywhere near these kinda speeds on starlink. Not to mention all the constant signal losses with Starlink. The difference between the two is night and day. Starlink is a last resort solution. I see people on Reddit getting 28 meg download speeds with Starlink and they think it's the cats pajamas.
@Bryan-Hensley
@Bryan-Hensley 2 месяца назад
@@HDHQDIRECT I paid $200 for my cellphone and it works perfectly, I can't help it you don't know how to shop. I just worked at a house with starlink and I got 190 Mbps down and 40 up with a loaded ping of 20 ms. I can get the 5g SA modems for less than $50. I can build one of these gateways for less than $200 and use much higher gain directional antennas.

This is a reap off man, I don’t understand why a 3$ pcb made antenna cost 200$, I really don’t understand why people pay that much for things like that. The modern cost maybe 50$ max plus assembly. It’s just a reap off…
@johnjacobsoni
@johnjacobsoni 2 месяца назад
Combining the antenna into the modem isn't a good idea - the power is limited because of integrating the modem. Having them separate is a better idea.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 2 месяца назад
Actually, it is a brilliant idea because of signal loss from running the antenna lines. Unboosted signal is very delicate and running it more than 20 feet before it gets to the modem can realize some serious losses. Every major antenna manufacturer that I have spoken to agrees that this is the natural evolution of 4x4 MIMO - bring the modem to the signal and power the whole thing with POE. Let the scores speak for themselves, I have a $650 modem and a $399 antenna (that's $1050!!!) and it gets beat by this device at $699. No longer and I running 30ft but I can run 300ft with no signal loss, that is huge and that is why this will become more and more prevalent.
