Incredible horsemanship by all the Life Guards! It's all done one handed!!! They and the horses are amazing especially when you consider what they have to put up with whilst on duty at the gates sometimes. 👏👏👏
1.25am the way they control those horses when they throw a hissyfit is absolutely amazing, and all with one hand and the sword stays held up the whole time.
I would think to that the drums would resonate and vibrations in that box would be amplified. That's probably why the horse was acting up earlier. He probably heard it before we did and felt it.

These wonderful guards and beautiful horses do not deserve to be abused and manhandled by people with no respect for our way of pride please put a stop to this.
Stupid is as Stupid does!! I haven't been around many horses - but since I know I don't know what to do - I'd get back and leave any Obviously Upset Animal, that can weigh up to 1,200 lbs, the Hell alone - until the Rider, trainers or a Stableman can help calm a Horse this upset - down!!
I'm afraid these stupid people leave their brains at home and they feel entitled to do as they please . I think that a notice should be put up to say do not touch the horse . Mind you they take no notice of the notice already posted .
It should be forbidden to harass these horses in this way, when they are already forced to remain static for hours on end, with bits and spurs unworthy of a 21st century society. This archaic world is beyond belief!
It amazes me how people stay in such close proximity to a horse having a meltdown. It seems like there was a problem with his bit. The guard handled him very well. Was he spooked by the passing bagpipes? Very handsome horse.
From what commented on previously, there was a protest going on in the street with drums, and some had high-pitched whistles. The horses with the guards experience a better life than most humans, and every effort is taken to make sure they are comfortable. Some humans just don’t care and unknowingly or deliberately act in ways to upset the horses.
Some bits have rollers in them so horse can play with them they are called pacifiers. Some bits a horse can get its tongue under. If you ever see them foaming at the mouth they love the bit.
Should tourist be allowed this close to our Kings House Guards ? These people come countries that have law and they are ignorant. There must be a sufficient space for the Guards and these stupid people. Or never allow them this close.
I think that all the horses are so fed up with the tourists, touching them, grabbing the reins, just milling around them. No wonder the horses don’t want to be there any more!
I hate that people are allowed to crowd around the horses and guards. You can’t blame the horses for biting, kicking and refusing to be manhandled. I admire the guards for being as calm as they are.
Might be worth while doing some further desensitising where it comes to the loud base drums & bagpipes, this is not the first time this has happened not sure if it’s the same horse. Just a thought 😊
My father was a Welsh Guardsman during WWII and one of his duties was assisting with crowd control training of Met Police Horses. Lots of shouting and banging saucepan lids, pushing and shoving, but never actually touching the horses. Being the son of a Welsh framer who farmed with horses he was well used to handling horses, as a kid I would visit the farm in school hols and my job was to water the hoses after a day's work in the fields at the pond. They would wade in and just relax, taking a sip now and again. Then the new tractor came along, and the horses went on light work and retired to the orchard.
These people are so stupid. Get them out of the way. There should be a barrier so people do not come anywhere near the horse or the guard. Remember these are people who have had no education or manners .
I understand that the greatest effect is from high pitched whistles, powered with compressed air. I couldn't hear them on this but they are very evident when there.
They should have a very strict rule of NO PROTESTS, there's plenty of other places for these lazy idiots to protest if they really must, no need to be near the horses. Half of them don't even know what they're 'protesting' about, they just join on behind those already there. They need to find something better to do with their time!
The horse hears something that scares him and wants to get away from that place. We may not be able to hear it at all, because horses can hear twice as well as we can. It's not for nothing that they say horses hear the grass grow and the fleas cough ❤❤❤❤❤❤
After checking that this horse has no medical issues that may have caused his , I believe he needs remedial schooling by a trainer. Even with background noises and rude tourists this horse is trained to overcome most of those disturbances. Good riding on the guards part along with gentle handling by the soldiers. Hopefully this horse was just having fun a bad day…..It happens to the best of us.
I am glad there are armed officers there protecting the Horse guards and the horses. Too bad there are so many tourists swarming around probably upsetting the horses.
It seems like they shouldn't allow any kind of loud parades, demonstrations, etc...to pass in front of horse guards. There are many other routes that they can take.
Many decent trainers these days don't even think to go on to backing and riding a horse before they have completed the desensitisation stage. It's sad to see this horse on show, panicking at the sounds of the city. The guard and the helpers all know what's bugging him and the issue could have been dealt with long before he ever had a harsh bit in his mouth. If they are not careful, the sounds of the bagpipes and marching will become associated with the pain in his mouth as the reins are pulled Jab Jab Jab! Thus his fear will be reinforced. The Pipes don't need to be scary, they just need to give the horse time to work through his worries in a less pressured environment where the guards aren't having to wrangle reins and sword and consider the safety of the crowds. You can see the guards anticipating the behaviour. you see they and the horse getting worried and restless, how they do this obsessive rubbing of the neck or nose? It's supposed to be soothing and nice but really, it looks like they are soothing themselves. It's not helping at this time. Ideally, they should remain calm and not start acting differently. The horse is a prey animal and he looks to the rider, his protector to feel safe. The guards between them were not offering that gentle solid support. Plenty of horses learn to be bombproof and are totally relaxed with unexpected loud sounds; Likely even better than some of us might be, so there is no reason why these pampered horses can't be properly trained also. You just need to put the time in. Some people might say, desensitisation should have to be completed before the horse is on show in public and a danger! I wonder what their risk assessment says? It's OK if the horses freak out, just so long as the guards bellow loudly at the tourists before they are trampled? And what about our dear deaf tourists? Shall we just say, That's your luck?

Whenever I watch one of these the horses are chopping on their bits nearly the whole time. I've never seen horses do this before like these do. They appear to be very very uncomfortable.
@tamarabloch7557 Absolutely never abused. If anyone ever did that, they would be on a charge. These horses are valuable and well looked after I have seen this for myself. The soldier checked the mouth and would have adjusted the bit if it was uncomfortable. I am not sure, but I feel the horse was unsettled before the band and bugles. They are trained to ride with the band, so I don't see how that would have spooked him. Maybe the simple answer is that he was just having an off day, or that, in the end, he just wasn't suitable for all the crowds and the tourists being so close to him. We don't know if he had had an unsettling experience in that box before either.
I feel sorry for the horses mouth with mouth piece bothering it, Unlike us people we can get it and make it more comfortable, That is what is stressing the horse.😔
The poor horses should change and give that horse a break, the animals get tire, hangry, thirsty and stressed but they do not care about the animals. The police man understand and give support to the horse.❤

That guard would do better not holding a scared horse by the reins. Mind your own rules. The rider needs to calm the horse. He Amos’s got that horse to rear up. They are like kids when they are scared. You tell them easy you let them back a few step way into the vestibule. They feel safe. Ask the pole to back away for safety. The rider tells the horse easy tell the threat passes. By taking the horse away that horse learned I act stupid I go back to the back.
People don't think about guard to horse wot can happen if thing go bad they just keep doing there thing but they don't listen to the police or the guard Karen
You don’t have to speak English or read the sign or common sence for example if a car or a dangerous dog are you going to move away or get bitten or run over a car , visually you can see
Are you going to allow your duty to be ruled by a horse? Does your dog tell you what to do? The horse will learn but not by going back to the stable if it misbehaves
Because if riders always give in to a horse when it takes a dislike to something, it will always acts up if it doesn't want to do something. These are working horses, highly trained to do what they do, not pasture pets. This animal is clearly sensitive to the drums and the quantities of people, and the guard did the right thing in taking it back to the box. If it hadn't been for the safety of all the quantities of silly people who wouldn't get out of the way, they should have persevered.
I say get rid of that whole darn process. Those are beautiful animals and I cant stand seeing them being forced to have to participate daily with crowds of people and noisy environments, whether they want to or not and look ... HOW LONG!!! .. they are being made to stand there. They dont want to do that. He wants to go. That would drive me crazy, too and I am very patient. That nonsense is no good for those animals and it needs to stop. What is the point of that anyway? To go there everyday and stand for hours? Waste of time! It just needs to end.
Ich respektiere und bewundere die Wache und finde es einerseits gut, dass man sich des Pferdes annimmt, verstehe aber nicht, warum man ein Pferd, von dem man weiß, dass es mit gewissen Geräuschen Probleme hat, an einem solchen Tag in den Dienst nimmt... doppelter Stress und ein erhöhtes Fluchtbedürfnis kann gefährdend werden. Mir fallen auch wieder die durch Zügel entstandenen Scheuerspuren am Hals des Tieres auf.... man sollte sich, finde ich, besser darum kümmern, es schaut nicht schön aus.
Horses sweat on their neck - and it’s white. It’s called a ‘lather’ 😊 So he might have had something physical going on. A horse going about its job like this one, shouldn’t be lathering up.

So sad we have no idea how much stress we are causing the horses. No amount of training can get a horse to be OK with all the different types of people around. Smells etc. How do we know that the perfume, aftershave etc does not affect the horses. Although it nice to have the horses we should be thinking of the horses
I don't blame these noble horses for objecting to the mouth-bits - while standing in the previous horse's shit ! The arrival of bagpipes must have been the last straw - they affect me in a similar way.
