My power steering pump fan started making noise in my 04 Mini Cooper. I took the fan motor apart to look inside and see what went wrong. I replaced the mini power steering pump fan motor with a cheap one.

If you have to work on a gravel driveway, you might put down a large piece of cardboard. At least you'd be able to find your dropped screws and parts.

Mini creates a high pressure pump that overheats easily. Solution: Puts 80s era computer fan on top of it.

This is exactly what i decided to do after the ps pump overheated and quit this morning. I lowered the pump power to 60% through diagnostic and works fine but steering is hard! Cool to find a video so I know exactly how to do. Spal motor is Italian (me too) but I live in China so it makes sense to do this way ;-)

Hey man Nice1, my r53 is actually overheating in traffic because my power steering pump fan is seized up which blows a fuse which stops the cooling fans from coming on ... I needed a video to give me some ideias of what to do so thx 👍

my fan isnt turning on at all. Does it need to get up to a specific temp to turn on?

What do you use to see if the fan works? 7:59. I bought a second hand fan and I'm sure it doesn't work properly.

Hi I am having the same issue on my R53 and got the power steering fan of the car and am trying to remove the fan from the motor but failing. Can you or anybody reading this tell me how to get the fan blades of the fan motor.

2006 MC non S the PS fan fuse keeps blowing? has a new dorman pump and fan per prior owner, I pulled the fan, it runs fine with direct 12v power but the ohm load across the resistor is very low, under 3 ohms, could that be the issue, the fan is drawing too much amperage and blowing the fuse and if so, does this fuse have any connection to the rad fan low speed? thanks!!
