I want to thank you for this video! I have a 2004 dodge dakota, I changed out the steering column and could not get it to go into park. After searching on here, I saw your video and your cable resembled mine, so I applied what you have shown to adjust the shift cable. Worked like a charm!! I know the dakota is I am sure much different than your truck, but your info helped me so much! Thanks and God bless you.
Did a whole bunch of work on my 48re and it still shifts hard 1-2nd. I suspect it's the cable adjustment and so glad I found your video. Thank you very much for this share!
Hey man thank you so much for putting this video up! I had the hardest time figuring out which adjustments were needed. Now my truck is back in business. You rock
Haha "Brake transmission shit interlock solenoid" typo above - gotta agree. These cables always seem to eventually stretch out of adjustment. Thanks for the helpful video..
If u take off the solenoid you’ll see the pin that moves in & out with the use of the brake pedal but in the cable housing where the solenoid snaps into is a steel plate with a hole in it that the solenoid pin rests inside locking the shifter in park. Just make sure that plate is in the middle of the opening where the solenoid snaps into and you’ll be golden!
Had issues with mine spray took care of it for a bit then it resurfaced. I adjusted cable and it was beautiful never worked so good . Couple month later stuck again . Not sure what the answer is maybe replacing cable is next
I know this is an old video but you didn't really explain the btsi adjustment. Is there a hole already there that you place the drill bit into to hold it or do you adjust it to where it lines up with the shifter mount like the cable adjustment and the bit is just holding it in place? I may have misunderstood but just wondering how to do the adjustment on the btsi. Thank you and I know this video is a few years old and probably won't get a response but great video other then that
I have a 2006 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with 5.7l hemi, automatic. D Vin So the truck got stuck in park and I couldn't move it from my driveway to the spot I needed to get it in. I used your technique to release the shifter to get it move than hooked back up after. I realized now that it's locked again, and I can't even see the gear selection on the dash. It's completely bla k, only milage showing and I can't start the truck either, just clicks. I fear something with the range sensor or shift cable or btm. I'm really lost at this point. Please help. Thanks you
Will this being out of adjustment prevent it from down shifting while at cruise to be able to pass someone? It engages into all gears on the column but it wont down shift. Like the kick down cable is out of adjustment
“This video’s more about adjusting the cable. And I’m not gonna move this cuz I already adjusted the cable.” 🤨?? That probably should’ve been in the video
I have replaced the shift cable in my 2006 Dodge 1500. problem is, I can't get the cable to go onto the nob at the shifter. It seems the hole in the bushing is to small. I have used lubs to try to slide it on, but nothing is working, any suggestions thank you
I've got a 2005 Ram 2500 that the shifter will not go into Park, could the problem be that it needs to the cable needs to be re-adjusted, it hasn't been replaced just can't get the truck into Park.
hello transmission guy i have a 06 dodge 2500 5.9 this just started today when the wife drove my truck well i replaced the neutral safety switch and my truck shifts throughout 1 2 D N R but will not shift into park well i push the lever all the way to the top but park registers as reverse could it be a bad neutral safety switch i just installed or could it be my rooster comb on the valve body? i do have all them parts to replace the rooster comb and bullet valve spring instead of the ball and spring ive tried the shift linkage adjustment no luck i am trying to avoid having to take my truck into a shop and paying over a grand for them to fix the problem any suggestions id appreciate.
I have a 2004 ram 2500 Cummins, could this be the issue if my truck all the sudden rolled out of park and pinned against my garage door? I can’t get it in any gear at all? Trying to go through gears it grinds going back into park?
I know this is an older thread, but I’m getting a check engine light code P0805 I’ve replaced neutral safety switch. Still show’s up. I adjusted cable and the other part you mentioned and it went away for a little bit and came right back. Any suggestions? PS I’m not getting the circle on the shift indicator on all points, just Park and neutral.
When you say it might have a hard time going into park. My 06 1500 wont shift into park, indicates reverse even when the lever is in the park position. Could this be fixed with an adjustment?
@@nosoymecanicoperoleintento4521 I ordered a new sensor, it comes in next week. This video helped me understand what was going on too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MjdcmXnblVI.html. I'm hopeful I can just change out the sensor and not have to get into the transmission
What do you do if you install a new transfercase and it dont want to shift out of park? It's the problem I'm having right now. Either new plug wasnt connected or something else is wrong. Please help
Hey bro nice video! Maybe you can help me , I have a 2012 3500 ram I put the shift in D and shows me 4th gear , I don’t know what to do :( anything can help thanks!!
Whenever i plug my connector into the Solenoid it locks up the cable and when i go to put it into drive it pops out of the swivel. When i unplug it the shifter works fine. This is after i replaced my busted shifter cable. I’m scratching my head do you have any thoughts on what my problem might be?
Hi, I got a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9l and the shifter is hard to move out of park. It will shift out of park even without pressing the brake if I pull it down hard enough. It is just as hard to shift even when I press on the brake, doesn't make difference if I press on the brake or not.I can hear the BTSI click when I release the brake. Any thoughts? Bad BTSI?
@@mr.ogotit9737 great, if i push on the solenoid and move the cable it will unlock, but otherwise i dont hear the click when i press brake normally, So i assume its a bad solenoid. Thank again.
What was going on with the original shift cable that made someone look to see it needed replaced??? Was it in reverse when it displayed in park inside the cab? You're missing a lot of information here.
@@brennonsmith8595 yes actually. it was a bitch, in my case a genuine mopar shifter cable fixed my issue. i used a cheap one from dorman or something and it didn't work after the original snapped. no matter how it was adjusted it wouldnt work because the plastic clips were extremely flimsy along with the retainer clips. it took a bit of messing around with the new mopar one but i finally got it to hit park. hope this helps man, i know its a pain.
I have an 07 Cummins and while driving down freeway in drive, the square that shows what gear your in moves! To N then R then D. But truck stays in drive. Anyone know my issue?
