[Aiming with IK] Ever wanted to make an epic stealth game from scratch and learn while you do so? Well... you've come to the right place, today we'll be working on an inverse kinematics system which will allow our arms to modify it's joints to reach a target using the FABRIK algorithm without any pre-made assets... Enjoy. (Made in Unity and C#)

- Video Description -
This video is mainly focused on writing an advanced Inverse Kinematics system (no mathematics required) which will allow us to modify the joints of an arm in order to re-position it to reach a target and make the movement extremely natural, almost how it would look like if you leaned over and grabbed something! We will be using the FABRIK algorithm which is a relatively new algorithm which uses Vector based movement! I will explain in-depth using diagrams so you all have a very in depth understanding of the algorithm. Welcome to the IK mini series! :) *In this specific episode we will attatch an arm model we built in Blender to the IK RIG to make it interact with the FABRIK algorithm*…
- Series Description -
This series was built to be an entertaining way of learning Unity while making an incredible game, you will learn how to make complex AI behaviour and write complex scripts such as custom character controllers w/ custom handled collision and slopes and Editor Code to control behaviour. This course was constructed to teach you so many skills that when you walk away from it, you'll have a new way of writing and designing games! Welcome to the pro side of Unity :) Enjoy ...

This is an awesome IK system. Its like IK but on a generic rig. Will it work for custom made arm rigs? With animations made on blender?

Lolerz Absolutely it will work on custom made models it may need a bit of tweaking but you'll get it ready in no time :)

AJTech Im going to follow this tutorial after my exams in a few weeks. You channel is so underrated. I finally find a channel which teaches us to make generic IK. Thank you so much. I have a question though, its a TPS why didnt you just use a third person model like Unity-chan and use the built in IK system on humanoid rig?

Thank you for your compliments :) I didn't use the built in IK system because I really want to teach people how the underlying mechanics for these systems actually work so people have a better idea of what IK really is. :)

Me again! This is my developer channel. You can see my low poly Fps game in my channel. My rig is pretty similar to yours. 3 bones on each arm but the hand bone is not attached to the lower arm bone as Im using IK on blender(I dont know a way to use IK on blender without seperating the hand bone so it doesnt follow the rotation of the lower arm bone. Anyway I hope I can follow how you made your IK to implement it on mine. Or ill have to redo all my animations with your IK 😂

Wow nice channel!! Good luck with implementing this system but if you want the highest quality please see the resources I have linked in the description as they teach you the proper way to achieve constraints and how to do this through iterations and not just hard coding it like I did, but it's safe to say that you may run into a few problems with animation :( but your game looks very nice! I am going to start producing development logs for the game that I am making very soon as well :)

AJTech Awesome. I need to catch up on your videos after exams. Also on your other comment you said that you want to teach people about IK and not use the built in system. I appreciate that. Thanks!
