Thank You. Thank You.. Thank You!!!! For making this video and for being Blessed!! Was stranded in NYC last night at 3 a.m. ... Watched the video..Found a Garage to borrow tools.... and BAM..... My car started and I was able to get home.... Thank You so Much for Posting this.... I was able to drive 2 hrs home and get my 9 year old to his football game this morning...You are the BEST!!
DUDE!! I owe you big time!!! My 09 Altima froze up on me, I tried your fix, and with a few tries I did it!!! Decided to just remove that lil black button, as the spring in it kept making the part flimsy. Also, had to remove the mother board thingy to get to the gear wheel. it was jammed, and stuck in lock. I removed the little motor thing (easy) turned the gear wheel until it was unlocked, put it back in making sure that the little motor part was fit into the gear grooves properly. I was unable to put the top back on since I jacked it up trying to get the damn thing open. I put the $950.00 (what they were going to charge me for the part) part back in its place after it started over and over. I did this two weeks ago, and it's still starting every time. Also the steering wheel still locks! The key light stays lit but I dont care. It starts!! It cost me 3-4 hours of labor and it did jack up my fresh nail polish but I can now drive to get a manni, so was well worth it! MUAH!!!
thank you so much. I was stranded at work and read about what it was. I was so stressed out when I found out how much it was but thanks to this video we tried it and it worked and saved us money!
You ARE FANTASTIC THANK YOU My MAN I had to manually turn the while wheel at the same time as gold wheel on the side to get the lock down! Press the black button like u said and it turns on! 2009 altima!
How do you take off the steering lock module box from the bottom of the steering wheel? I pulled down on it but it doesn't budge. Is it attached to screws or something?
Last Wednesday I tried the push down method with a screw to hold the one inch block. That did not work after two days. I replace the fuse and open the case to push the smaller switch today. I will drive the car and check again in three days. Ken
Good looks on this video! My shit sitting in my driveway now and just got off the phone with these clowns and told me the same thing about some damn 1,200.
ma brother, awesome video fam! one question tho, how the hell do i unscrew them side bolts/screws that securing this piece in place? cant seem to find a tool that can pop em out
Yeah, on my wife's, the screws were cut off (friggin Nissan)...so...after you take the dashboard cover off, and there a metal piece that's over this box (four screws to remove).I took a hammer and banged on the box until the two screws got loose. That should let you just use some needle nose pliers to loosen the screws some more. Then used fingers to unscrew completely.
I have a car like this that has this issue but my problem is. I have a new box but I cant find the cords that plug into the box. I have taken the dash apart and unraveled the tape to see if the wires had been cut and I cannot find that plug for nothing in this world. 2010 altima
I ordered a harness that has the brown wire cut imma see if I can start it like that if not I'm opening up that sucka and pushing that shit back hopefully it works
You gotta file a complaint with NHTSA so this part can be recalled , towed and fixed for free!! if enough people complain NISSAN has to deal with it. My car is used and the previous owner replaced this same part and now it's broke AGAIN!!! Not cool-- look it up and file a complaint -- NHTSA AND WITH NISSAN!!!
I gave Nissan $975 for this part it cost $600 for the part. it took them less than 10mins. I say buy it from a salvage yard and replace the 3bolts and ride
Never will own a Nissan again. Thanks for all the info here. I hit the $700.00 part piece of shit with a hammer and it started right up! Really ! Called Pence Nissan in Richmond VA, They new what it was over the phone ,commission they make. Hope they go out of businessShame on Nissan. Buy Honda ! Get rid of your Altima ASAP.
