My 1st job in high school in 1981 was "fixing" A2s. 40 years later, I'm a Maintenance Mechanic fixing huge, multi-million-dollar machines and making pretty good money. Watching this, it's amazing how much I remember. If I need a part-time job when I retire in a few years, I guess I'll go back to where I started. Thanks for the memories.

Great job, new parts look so clean! I don't envy you having to do this at all, the detector and the cams are the part of the machine I have the least experience with.

Thank you very much! I didn’t want to run the machines after we got it done cuz it looked good lol Detectors I had no experience with till the school, then came home and rebuilt and changed at least 20 so far. But the Gearbox is the thing I have the least hands on experience with

I just got done doing a training course on how to remove a 1:1, I never thought I wanted to see it again but here I am watching. I couldn’t get my detector back on the right tooth to save my life, must have tried a dozen times, bravo sir

I’ve probably changed out 20 Detectors before this, so I’d like to think that helped lol. Thank you!

Way late to the party. Next time you do a 1-1 do it at 90 degrees strike. Puts you in the perfect position to where you don't have to mess with the deck lift pin and also you don't have to mess around with the timing marks through the inspection port on the gearbox housing. Timing your detector is super easy as well. There's a scribe mark on the M/D scissor cam that bisects the follower bearing perfectly at 90. That's how you time the 1-1 when you reinstall. Fastest I've ever done one is 4 1/2 hours. The slowest for me has been 8 hrs since I hit a couple snags.

You know I don’t mind longer videos. It’s just frustrating seeing parts left out in the editing. I don’t mind a step by step procedure, instead ok it’s all back together and we didn’t we how it went. I mean did you have to use a puller to get the cam off? Or just pounded it off? And seeing the detector come out and adjust it a tooth. I just like watching the process without cuts in video. :/

Ok next video I’ll make sure to leave in a lot of that stuff, didn’t know how some people felt about videos that got up there in duration. Now that I have an idea stuff like that will be longer and more detailed. Thank you for the suggestion, want to make the videos the way you guys want to see them!

You're lucky you have the new style m/d scissor cams with the clamping bolt. If a key breaks on my 1-1's they have to get yanked. Gotten pretty good at it. 6 hours is the norm.

We’ve had to do some without the clamping bolt. I just put one with a clamping bolt on afterwards lol

@@shawnmbowling Those are gold if you can find them used. Saves sloppy 1-1 Keyways from not being usable. Got a couple 1-1's I can't use due to new Keys fitting sloppy in the keyway. Attempting to source new style cams without buying new is a chore.

We got lucky cuz our previous owner took out 10 lanes for an arcade/billiards area so those 10 machines become part machines

I went to adjust a rake cam on one of my end lanes...and when I got it loose, I spun it around and said, "Wheel, of, RAKE CAM!" Then adjusted it correctly. Cutos if you get what I meant by that phrase.

Invest in a brass or lead hammer. Lots of bashing power that wont mushroom the steel.

What do you think about the kegel turret pockets, my center has been thinking about trying them out, and phasing out turret wires, but we are don't want to do it if its not as reliable.
@shawnmbowling
@shawnmbowling Год назад
So from everything I’ve heard and even with talking to someone from Kegel it’s usually the same thing, the work great for others and not at all for some. We only get it for the 1,7,10 and we like them a lot. Best thing you could do is get a few, and put them on lanes you have problems with and try them out

what causes a 1-1 shaft to need rebuilt. Is it a constant 180 stop issue
@shawnmbowling
@shawnmbowling 9 месяцев назад
No that would be in the linkage. We had to change a whole 1:1 assembly out cuz the cam broke and it was easier to c/o then rebuild. This one was literally just cuz of that plate being bent.
@feastingturkey7118
@feastingturkey7118 9 месяцев назад
what promots you to rebuild this
@shawnmbowling
@shawnmbowling 9 месяцев назад
That plate you mount the detector to and the moving deck cam follower shaft goes through was bent. We couldn’t bend it back, so changing it out was the only thing we could do
