I've never used a spring on the old-style pit idler. Always used the set screw to adjust belt tension. Don't sweat it.

I’ve always had both, but nice to know you don’t need the spring as long as you have the screw!
@reconbbs360
@reconbbs360 8 месяцев назад
@@shawnmbowling technically the spring allows the idler to still pivot which is better for belt longevity of the pit belt. If I don't have a spring I usually just put tension on the ball wheel. Turn machine on and run set screw in til it hits elevator frame and add 1 more turn on the screw. Lock down jam nut and walk away lol. Essentially your turning the old style idler into a A2 style stationary one.

@reconbbs360 got it, I didn’t know there was a stationary version of it. I thought they were all pivots

@@shawnmbowling If you've ever used a pit idler bracket repair kit, there's slots for the new style. It's slotted so you can move the idler to get proper tension on the pit belt. Used to use a pry bar to hold it in place and tighten the bolt to lock it in place. Old center I worked at had Japanese a2's which had the new style. I prefer the older style IMO.

Either re-tighten that holding clamp OR add metal shims to it. No need to replace lower frame. That post gets loose from not checking them.

I have some machines that don't have a pin for the spring and some that do.

Could you please to a video on how you organize your hardware. With all the pin, bolts, washers, springs ect. What us the best way you found to find what you need quick and easy?
@shawnmbowling
@shawnmbowling 10 месяцев назад
Yeah I can do a video on that. We found it best to get the plastic bins with drawers that you’d get from a hardware store
@tima6407
@tima6407 10 месяцев назад
Thank you I appreciate it. The place I started at is a mess and the mechanics before me threw everything wherever they wanted, so the bins we have are just miscellaneous hardware kept from old parts. I guess I meant to add on to the previous question, what hardware is used the most. Anything to just get an idea of what I could order to start filling the bins with proper hardware. I'm new to working on A-2 and I find it takes most of my time trying to find the right size hardware for what I need then it does actually putting the damn part on lol.

Well from what I noticed 1/4x20 bolts are used a lot, get yourself a lot of X-washer pins and X-washers as well. I’ll get kind of a list going and post it on the channel as well

Do you have any tools/want any tools out side of the normal (wrenches and sockets at stuff of that nature) that would make life easier working on these pinsetters!?
@shawnmbowling
@shawnmbowling 10 месяцев назад
I mean a hydraulic puller and press makes life easy. Brunswick, Quality, and Kegel make specialty tools for these that we do have.

Should go back to the old style pit mounts but use kep nuts lot better than the the.old lock nuts

How have you in the past removed the old jogger arm bearing at rear of jogger? Anything that has helped if it is seized in?

Hydraulic puller and press if what we’ve used in the past to get those bearings off

Item number/brand/link? The jogger arm was bought or installed in 89’ 🤡💀 the tag was still on it and I am starting to run into a lot of things like this since no one did up keep.

We’ve always used Brunswick for the bearings. 12-300160-000 for the complete housing with bearing, 12-300160-003 for just the bearing. 12-300163-000 for the jogger arm link, 12-300194-091 for a complete jogger arm link

Any tips for removing the shaker board from shaker frames without the quick release arms? I cannot for the life of me find any information on them anywhere, everyone seems to have the quick release versions. Even the manual only has the quick release ones.
@shawnmbowling
@shawnmbowling 10 месяцев назад
To be honest I didn’t know that there was any different version. I would try Facebook A2 pinsetter group Simone in there is bond to know
@kendavis5621

on my A2's there are three bolts on the front (pin deck side) of the frame that need to be loosened which will allow you to lift out the shaker board.

Some machines as soon as you put the pins back in they come out. But if you leave it out then it don’t throw more lol. Idk man gremlins
