Tyvm! 🙂 Yeah a friend challenged me to do a time with the Mclaren on Monaco and I ended up going after the WR held by FlyingF1nn till then who's actually one of the fastest Formula drivers on AC so it was a tough one, possible with a bit of dedication though :)
Yeah it does look like it on video, what you do not see from this POV is that the rear right tyre was still on the white line as I explained already in another comment, getting this exactly right was pretty difficult but it paid off. The lap is registered both by Assetto Corsa itself and RSR live timing track limit wise and has been added as the official WR on the leaderboards, so it's legal both for RSR and for AC.
It's not cut, the back left wheel was running along the white line on the chicane because the fastest way of doing that is to throw it over the kerb and then rotate the car by spinning it so the back end was stepping out meaning that one tire was on the white line meaning it's totally fine. RSR livetiming and Assetto Corsa registered the lap as valid too so there was no corner cutting, just the front wheels cut it but that doesn't matter as long as one wheel stays on or inside the white lines.
@@Tstahl962 it was a cut bruh, find me a single vid of real life F1 where they take that much liberty with that kerb and dont get a penalty/ invalid lap etc
@@beat6039 it's legal, don't complain to me, plus again I had one wheel on the whites so I didn't gain much. Again, that's how the track limits are set, I could've cut more if I wanted to but I didn't want to do that, don't complain to me, go to the mod maker.
Hey thanks man appreciate it, yeah there's a few people here that don't like the chicane, but A. They did this IRL too, B. The competition on this WR is quite fierce with some of the best AC open wheel pilots so you have to do what you have to do and C. It was still within limits, you just don't see it bc you don't see the left rear tyre slip along the white line. And yeah idk what would make people call this "fake", probably just jealousy...
wow insane lap well done! even faster then Senna's pole lap of 88, his time was 1.23.998. Were you driving with shifter and clutch? If yes even more impressive.
Ty, appreciate the kind words! And yes, I was driving with a physical H-pattern, manual clutch, and manual blip, 100% authentic 🙂 I could probably go faster on the old 1988 version of Monaco though, since the 2020 layout I was using is quite a bit slower.
Appreciate it! It's a good lap besides the last corner, idk what I was doing there lmao. 1988 is a good idea tbh, maybe I should try that one, I think the old version is a lot faster than this one.
@@iNTERS22 It has nothing to do with that. I just hate it when idiots who can't get anything done try to belittle and downplay the achievements of others, it's pathetic.
Hey, yes I did end up making a setup for the car that evening however it's very unpolished and unfinished, not really something I'd release publicly hahahah
Yeah it's great to drive! They released it publicly after it was for free on the VRC website for some time to make room for new paid mods, you can find it on race department 🙂
I don't know mate, I didn't put any ads on the video and I'm also not getting a single penny of whatever they're making. Also no way to turn it off, annoying that people have to go through 2 30 second ads to watch a 1 minute vid, and I can understand why some of them probably go "meh nvm then" and just not watch it, which also sucks for me bc I'm not only not getting any money from it but it also means I get less views. I appreciate you watching tho, I get why ur complaining.
@@Tstahl962 absolutely wonderful reply. RU-vid is absolutely cruel. They don't even give you a single penny. That's sad dude.. and people should have the damn ability to turn it off
Thanks! Yeah, the app is called "traces", just search for it on race department 🙂 (it eats FPS tho if you set it to good refresh rates so I only use it in replays)
Aye, because it is! Teams back then were using all sorts of engines in the 80s and early 90s before regulations for having just one engine layout became a thing. In this case, the mclaren Mp 4/4 was using a turbocharged 1.5L V6
Tbh I have no idea if this setup is any good lmao, this was my first time driving that car so I really just tuned it as I went meaning it's probably heavily tailored around my driving style.
These gearboxes can handle some abuse, even the gearbox in your roadcar can be flat foot shifted for a bit. It's just gonna break very fast, but not within one lap, soooo who cares it's a hotlap
@@silva.marcos what do you mean? I drove this WR with a physical H-pattern, manual clutch and manual blip? Lmao, it's a dogbox H-pattern, you don't understand how to shift fast, it ruins the gearbox but who cares
I didn't actually, both AC and RSR livetiming say it's completely fine, plus I never had all 4 wheels off of the white lines (I admit it was 3 wheels outside the whites but that doesn't count as a cut) so it's perfectly fine, I'm just using every bit of track I can because that's what's necessary to beat one of the best Formula drivers on AC.
@@MrSkeleton131 so for everyone here that's confused about it the only way to get the chicane really fast is to go over it and then spin the car with the throttle so you point at the exit sooner (they do this in real life too). So while my 2 front rights were over the white lines my rear left tyre due to the back stepping out was riding on the white line. It's a tough one to pull off and took a few attempts but I happened to get a lap like this together after 3 hours of trying and tweaking the setup. However if y'all really want I don't mind putting a comment with a discord web link to a screenshot of the record on the RSR livetiming to prove that it's valid.
You can see how it starts locking up as soon as I start turning in under braking/setting the car up for the corner. Essentially what happens is that this takes load off the left front, giving it less grip and therefore the provided braking force is enough to cause a lock up. Additionally, the car was set up pretty stiff for this particular WR which results in the inside front wheel lifting off the ground in low speed/high load corners, you can see that happen as well in the Hotel Hairpin. It's a bit of a tradeoff but seemed to be worth it.
@@marcomonaco2400 The RSR website only includes the stock AC tracks as leaderboards, to access boards like this you'll need the RSR plugin yourself and load up the track/car combination in AC
I might if there is a significant time to chase 🙂 The previous WR was held by one of the fastest guys on AC so I ended up spending some time on this one because it was a worthy objective
Yeah, block shifting. You spend less time out of gear so you get extra engine braking. Being able to block shift on these old cars is one of the reasons why having a physical H-pattern is technically faster, even if it's harder to drive.
Scuse me? If I edit the car RSR livetiming won't allow the record to be on the table, but it is, you can check yourself. The grip is setup, and simply, driving technique.
The grip only goes up to 100% in the AC settings, I would have needed to modify the track itself in which case this would not be on the leaderboards, but it is. That's the warranty, and really you don't need any warranty, if you're a great and capable driver you'll see the driving techniques and finesse used in this lap, and well if you are not, then ig refer to the other people in the comments section who have all said what an amazing lap this is. There is a reason I included telemetry on screen...
