I love this cake and I really enjoy your show.....thanks for taking the time to show us how it's all suppose to be done. Nobody is cooking the old southern way anymore.
My family makes the 1-2-3-4 cake, too, as a pound cake in a tube pan. I add 1/2 teaspoon baking powder so I can be sure of a little lift; also 1/2 teaspoon salt and a dash of fresh nutmeg. I have never heard of Uzbeck frosting before - that looks so fluffy and luscious! I loved your video - you sure know your way around a kitchen!
thank you so much I sent this to my granddaughter to make. se is 18 and just learning to bake. this was the first cake I was taught to make many years ago. from this receipt I have made hundreds of cakes. I truly enjoyed the video. you have great style.
Thanks a lot Henrietta! My cake turned out wonderful. It was just as golden and beautiful as yours... I decided to use a vanilla bean buttercream frosting (using vanilla bean paste that I had shipped to me). It complimented the cake nicely. Thanks for such a great precise video instruction.
OMG, thank you so very much for your shared dessert recipes. I tried your basic 1-2-3-4 cake and added my own spin on it....Co-workers thoroughly enjoyed it! This was an awesome savings on ingredients vs. what's required for pound cakes. Next, I plan to try your "chocolate-lime-rum" cake real soon. Again, THX. "Cele"
Aw, give it another shot. Sometimes it's trial and error. I'm still learning, but when I first started baking some cakes were horrible, but others were amazing. With practice my cakes are more consistant now :-)
My grandmother, who was born and raised in Louisiana, made this cake all the time with either chocolate or cream cheese frosting. She's up in age now, living in a nursing home, so she doesn't bake anymore. I tried to bake it a couple of years ago but it came out pretty flat. All threee of my layers probably equaled to one of yours and hers, lol. I really love the cake and want to try it again. I wish I could have some of yours b/c it's looks so good and fluffy, just like my grandmother's.
I need a stand mixer! I made a similar recipe last week and it flopped. I think it was the fact I didn't cream the butter enough and whip the rest of the ingredients long enough. Having to hold the hand mixer so long was killing my wrists.
Well done thanks for explaining the 1-2-3-4 concept, will definitely bake it for my family and am looking forward to try out your frosting it look smooth.👌
Thank you so much. I lost my mothers 1-2-3-4 cake recipe can’t wait to make it. I wanted to make a strawberry cake with this recipe can I add the strawberries in the mix also

Thank you for sharing your recipes just give us more!!!!
Your cake looks so good and easy to make. Can't wait to make and try it. Do you have any videos for Pineapple Cake. My grandmom use to make Pineapple cake with just the pineapple as the frosting and a simple syrup from the pineapple juice. Can't find anyone making it this way anymore. keep the recipes coming, Von
I am so happy for you! There will be always something positive that will come out of it you will see. I talk from experience, since the same thing happened to me :). Sending lots of good thoughts and vibes your way!
