The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

Man, I love your videos. I've been listening to your stuff since you started, and I had just started going back to community college. I'm now two weeks from graduating with my bachelor's degrees, and I've listened to your longer videos sooooo many times, along with History Time, Voices From The Past, etc. etc. while writing papers. Thanks for the awesome content, man! You've helped a ton! Also, I share your love of the Lakers from the Kobe-Shaq era. I'll never forget opening up a pack of basektball cards and seeing Shaq holding a gold 34 jersey. I was like "But he wears 32.....on the Magic...." Like 10 packs later, 2 more of that same card, and yep, he wasn't on the Magic. Good times.
@MrReese
@MrReese Год назад
Could you please keep the new ones together, either in the beginning or the end of the video? Having to use these timestamps here is not really practical and the constant audio changes from one fact to the next make the video seem less professional than it is. I don't think you are doing yourself a favor with this :X.

I had always heard that the Trent Tucker rule is also called that because Tucker was generally thought to have the fastest release of any player in the NBA at the time, and in the offseason they brought him in and timed a bunch of his releases and found that he couldn't do it faster than 0.3 seconds. Not sure if it's true, but that's what I always heard.

Stop shooting threes oh Lebron, My heart can't bear another one. Please take it to the basket, I don't want our lead to plummet. You're a king with a powerful drive, Your layups and dunks keep us alive. But when you stand behind the line, I fear our victory won't shine. Your shooting percentage is low, And our team's confidence starts to go. Please don't let us down in this game, We need you to drive us to fame. Stop shooting threes oh Lebron, I know you can lead us on. Take it to the basket and score, And our fans will cheer forevermore.

I could have sworn the Trent Tucker rule was known as the Derek Fisher rule. I was almost certain that this happened in a playoff game, lakers vs spurs with .2 seconds remaining and Derek Fisher taking and making the GW jumpshot. and it was popp after the game telling the media after the game how the shot was physically impossible. Then the rule was instated after investigating release times. Am i remembering incorrectly?

there was no dunk contest, but wilt dunked from the free throw line back in the 50s in college in the summer by taking only 2-3 steps, and not any real running start and why they made the rule about having to release the ball while standing behind the free throw line

@@christophercox936 t, Chamberlain was also a fantastic athlete, and while he was attending Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, he reportedly came up with a novel solution to his free-throw shooting problem. Speaking to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Chamberlain's former Overbrook teammate, Mel Brodsky, recalled that there were a few times the would-be "Big Dipper" would occasionally fool around during practice and dunk from the foul line, but also made sure to note that Chamberlain never tried it in an actual high school game. THE NCAA GETS TOUGH ON CHAMBERLAIN Jim Rogash/Getty Images He's best known these days as the architect of the triangle offense, but back in the 1950s, Tex Winter (pictured above in 2011) was the young head coach of the Kansas State Wildcats basketball team, and a man who knew the NCAA might have a problem on its hands if it allowed this Wilt Chamberlain kid from in-state rival Kansas to dunk from the free-throw line. Per The Philadelphia Inquirer, the only time Chamberlain dunked from the stripe in a public setting was in December 1955 during the annual scrimmage between the Jayhawks' varsity team and freshman squad. Winter was at the event, and he was concerned that Chamberlain's Jayhawks could potentially dominate his Wildcats if he was allowed to dunk in his free throws. He also had the authority to suggest changes to the NCAA's basketball rulebook. "I was the chairman of the Coaches Rules Recommendation Committee," Winter said in 2011, explaining how he made his case against Chamberlain at the 1956 NCAA coaches' convention. "I explained to the coaches at the convention what I saw and said something's got to be done." Winter got the support he was hoping for, with Southern Methodist University's coach, Doc Hayes, telling reporters that dunking free throws was tantamount to "cheating." During the meeting, a number of rules were instituted to prevent big men like the 7-foot-1-inch Chamberlain from taking over college basketball, and one of them was the ban on free-throw-line dunking. At that time, freshmen were still not allowed to play varsity basketball in the NCAA, so Chamberlain was essentially prohibited from using the ultimate workaround for his notoriously poor foul shooting even before his college career officially began. The chemistry between Curry, Thompson and Green had always been great, so that "fact" is not a newsflash in my opinion. They are the 3rd most winning trio in NBA post-season history (98 wins together; Parker-Ginobili-Duncan 126 wins & Magic-Worthy-Kareem 110 wins). At that point in time they already had the experience of 5 straight NBA finals. It would be rather weird if they couldn't get along in that 2022 championship run.

Correction: in the original horse competition, Westphal did not defeat Maravich. Both qualified for the finals, but Pete injured his knee on January 31, just before the finals, and dropped out. Pete was never the same after that injury. Ironically, he was having his best overall season, leading the New Orleans Jazz to the playoffs for the first time, and leading the league in scoring for the second straight season, with an average of 31.1 the previous year, and 28.1 that season before the injury (47 games). That was the year George Gervin and David Thompson battled it out for the scoring title on the final day with 63 and 73 points respectively. Gervin won the title by less than a tenth of a point per game over Thompson, both averaging 27.2. Pete finished at 27.0 after trying to play 3 games on the bad knee in late March, hoping to help the Jazz make the playoffs. He scored a total of 29 points in those 3 games, before shutting it down. The Jazz went 13-19 in the games Pete missed and fell out of playoff contention. Fittingly, Pete was in attendance for Gervin's 63 point game, as the Spurs played the Jazz. It would have been epic, if Pete was healthy, and there was a 3 way battle for the scoring crown on the final day. I would have put my money on Pete.

I’m not sure if you ever mentioned this but MVP award winners and finals appearances/wins are damn near synonymous with each other. I know it’s a regular season award and that’s the argument used when MVP winners come up short in the playoffs however it’s also not a coincidence that most MVP winners have seen a finals floor at least one time in their careers. I remember doing research on this one day and the first former MVP winner I could find that retired their nba career without winning at least one ring was none other than Charles Barkley. That explained all the “no rings” jokes/slander I heard him endure growing up during the 90s and 2000s. Since he was the first mvp to retire without a ring that list has grown to Allen Iverson, Derrick Rose*(catastrophic injury before his prime), Russell Westbrook(still active), James Harden(still active) and now Joel Embiid. (Still active) During Jokic’s MVP run before the nuggets reached the finals and won in 2023 it also made me question how many nba mvp award winners have NEVER been to the nba finals and I looked at every mvp winner in nba history and the only other name I could find was Steve Nash. That instantly put Jokic on the wrong side of history and I admit he should have won mvp in 2023 but for his sake a finals appearance and win is more valuable to his already 2 MVP’s than a 3rd one. Now all the pressure is on Embiid to at least make a finals appearance. I personally think this is a mind blowing nba fact and I could actually be wrong it was some lazy research but I haven’t heard it mentioned anywhere before

What MJ was to the 20th century, Kobe is to the 21st century. It's people like us that have to keep reminding young folks, and haters about the reality of Kobe's career. He was a great shooter, a great defender, and had no weaknesses. His only weakness could be considered to be a habit of overworking, but that's also how he won 5 championships in 7 attempts, and carried several teams much further than they would have gone without him. I can't really call Kobe's insane work ethic a weakness though, because it actually made him stronger. Kobe at just 75% health was still ten times better than everyone else, including Tim Duncan, Lebron, Tmac, Carter, Shaq, Nash, Dirk, Garnett, Pierce, etc/
