I started my loc journey yesterday! In December i lost my dad suddenly and he had restarted his loc journey. We would always say that we’d start together but i was always scared, however last night i made the step in committing! His spirit will be with me throughout this journey and I’m so excited!

Yeah I got salon coils and then combed them out and did my own twists. Even though I have some sections that’s are too big, 18 months later I don’t regret starting them myself.

You inspired me to start my own journey. This is something that I’ve thought about doing for years but never did because for some reason it felt like a destination. And I felt like once i did it I would be stuck there. But doing it I realize it’s more of a journey than anything. I’m about to be 5 months in and absolutely no regrets. I loc'd my hair in Oct 2020, letting my hair just be has been so much fun as well as rewarding to accept myself as I am. I overcame something I had doubted I would get through last year, I showed myself that I am stronger than I know, and so I decided to make a commitment to myself, to my growth and to my power. This is what this journey stands for for me --- growth and healing. When I look back I know I will be stunned at how far I've come, and when I look down I know I will be stunned at the growth and texture of my hair. I started following you because I was so struck by your energy and your authenticity. Your locs speak to your beauty, and I am so glad you posted this at this time.

Omg I'm so glad you mentioned not having parts and doing them yourself. I'm about to be 5 months in & got really self-conscious about not having a part pattern & I did it wrong & will need to start over. Today, I love my babies & feel EXACTLY the way you do. It's a custom experience b/c I started & still do them myself & already get compliments and encouragement from ppl YEARS into their journey. It's super spiritual & empowering. I know a girl like that who always said you should go to a loctition because... I always heard blah blah blah after. I love my locs. I just made 10 months on the 5th and I have been wearing my hair wrapped up ever since it started getting cold like I've been doing since 2017. I do like my hair but its easier to deal with under the wrap because it doesn't look how i envisioned my locs looking hopefully it gets there by spring cause that's when it gets warmer in NYC and I plan on leaving the head wraps alone. I went through the stage of my hair doing whatever it wanted during these cold months while I've been wearing a head wrap. Your locs are beautiful and mine are beautiful and I like that it was all me.

Love this! After having my son, mama just didn't have time for whole wash days. lol I started my locs with 2 strand twists and I'm just shy 7 months in my journey. I started experiencing bunching on some of my locs and was a little concerned but I actually love the way they all look. After sitting with that, I figured my concern came from the "book" when really, if I was enjoying my journey, then there was no concern. Starting locs was one of my greater choices. I love it here!

This is day 2 of my starter locs for me. I went to 2 people before to start them this month and it just didnt feel right. I had to start my locs on my own. That’s what makes the journey so special. To start them and maintain them on your own is so beautiful. (NOT BASHING PEOPLE WHO GO TO OTHERS TO MAINTAIN THEIRS)! i am starting my journey due to watching your videos, along with just me being deeply invested in my spirituality. i also feel like you had a really good point with just trying to find your own inner and outer beauty with locing your hair. so, that lead me to take out all my piercings and start with a completely bare face- to find the true outer beauty within myself as well as just locing my hair. an finding the true inner beauty by just mediating to my higher self and just finding and being more positive towards my calling. thank you so much for sharing your journey with us and for just being a very genuine and positive island woman. your videos have given me so much empowerment within myself and for my journey to come!

I am almost 3 months in, and I’m absolutely loving every second. I too was told I needed to see a loctician because I have a lot of bunching and I’ve only retwisted once since I started. But I love the frizz, and unkempt look of it, I like how it’s growing just as it is. I never wanted neat locs with crispy parts. I feel 💯 more confident and beautiful just as I am. I lost my mother two weeks ago, and she really encouraged me to do it and when I did she loved it so much. My little Asian mother knew nothing about locs but she said they were so beautiful on me. The best decision I’ve ever made for me and I wish I would have started sooner! 🦄 💜✨

I’m almost 6 months loc’d and I definitely learning as I go. I’m definitely loving and accepting my own journey, i just got a retwist and I absolutely love it. My husband and I are both loc’d (he’s been loc’d way longer than me) and this has been such an amazing journey for us.

Wow, your locs are so beautiful. 😍 I went to a loc consultation and was told it was cost $1500 to start with 6 inches of hair, and I have 12 inches. So I walked away saying Heck Nall. But after watching this video, I think I will start them and maintain them myself. 😉

My 9y/o Daughter's Father passed away in May and he wore locs. We've been discussing it for months as she has alot of hair but is very tender headed. I then started getting curious for myself as my brother also has back length locs. Then your video pops up on my timeline and you're making me want to meet that part of myself with my daughter. Definitely subscribing and will be checking for alot of points of reference 🤣

Baby you & your hair are Lit 🔥🔥🔥 I am beginning my journey this week. You have inspired me to do them myself instead of searching for the perfect stylist. I started several peoples dreads years ago and they are long and beautiful now. But I was lazy thinking of doing my own. It’s on now!!! I will do them myself & embrace the journey as you have.
