I am so glad I got my hysterectomy. I had fibroids that were so large I looked slightly pregnant. I did a partial so I still have the cervix and ovaries. I was my doctors last surgery before she retired. I was 46 at the time and this was my first invasive surgery so I was scared as hell but the team I had was amazing. The last thing I remember was looking at the lights on the ceiling when they wheeled me into the surgery room and next thing I knew I was waking up in the recovery room. I was there two days. Recovery wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Wearing a belly binder really helped and walking down the stairs backwards helped during those first couple of weeks. I actually felt almost back to normal after 3wks. No more periods. It didn't change my sex life. It actually improved it because I didn't have to worry about my period coming on whenever it wanted. I had ridicoulsly heavy periods and I was anemic due to the heavy bleeding. I had to wear overnight pads and super abosorbant tampons that I had to change every 4 hrs. It was like a crime scene honey. It was crazy. I'm no longer anemic and no more ruined vacations hoping my period won't come on. I love the freedom that not having a period brings.

Did it cost alot after your insurance? I keep having the same symptoms but the only thing that stops it is going vegan. If I eat meat it throws my body off and my fibroids grow larger causing those symptoms u mentioned. I’m at the point where I want a full hysterectomy, I’m only 32 and miscarried once b4. I’m over the stress and anemia tbh

@SHELLZ591 Where I work we have really good insurance so all I paid for my surgery was the copay which was $400. Insurance covered the rest.

It was a real blessing to come across this vlog, my wife just found out she had fibroids a week ago, and currently discussing with doctors on the next step. Came over from the Cruising videos. Thank you for your candor, so many ladies go through this procedure without the Sister or Sista Talk. Its really needed. I got a partial 12 years ago (They left my ovaries and cervix in). Then I had one ovary removed six years ago due to tortion. Your insomnia was probably lock-down related. I had it at the beginning of the pandemic as well. Thank you again! God bless you and your Hubby. ♥

I have big fibroids so UFE is not an option I have an option of myomectomy or hysterectomy I heard after hysterectomy the stomach muscles gets weak and your stomach will be flabby not toned is it true can you plz share ur experience thank you
@mcrchickenluvr
@mcrchickenluvr Год назад
@@shaimaya1117 just be aware that fibroids can grow back. Doctors don’t always tell you that when you have a myomectomy. That’s what happened to me. I had the one that was causing problems removed. That’s in 2019. My cycle started getting heavier again so I knew something was off. I went back to my OBGYN and sure enough there it was. Not only that, but it was twice the size of the first one. And the pedunculated one on the outside of my uterus was also much larger. They’re both at least 12cm. So now I get to have the surgery I wanted in the first place which is a hysterectomy.
@shaimaya1117
@shaimaya1117 Год назад
Sounds good to know ur feeling good u said you did total hysterectomy but I thought total is when u remove everything even the ovaries but anyways as long as ur feeling good that’s what matters. I do have big fibroids like small water melons n big grapefruit size I like doing the less invasive procedures first my symptoms are very heavy irregular periods twice a month which if uncomfortable make me feel exhausted n anemic. Anyways my nxt step im considering is to do robotic myomectomy, less invasive n less scaring but again unfortunately fibroids can come back. So my question is u did hysterectomy leaving the ovaries which means u took ur whole uterus out and it’s been a while how ru feeling now n since you kept the ovaries were you still getting ur periods, and did your stomach go down my stomach is big but I’m not heavy or carry any weight but my stomach due to fibroids is big plus the mri shows my bladder bigger due to fibroids pushing on it. The only concern I have with hysterectomy is that I heard is tht uterus holds other organs intact once the uterus is removed the stomach prolapses and you lose the tone n it totally changes the body shape since you have your uterus removed and it’s about 2 yrs now did you see physical change in the stomach area did you body shape changed. Plus let me/us know so I can make a decision which one to choose myomectomy the problem is fibroids will grow back n hysterectomy I don’t know what happens to the body from outside so I want to know from someone who has done is plus as a women not having a uterus whether wanting children or not how does that feel in general plz share

I initially was watching your Cruise information videos when I heard you say that you didn't have kids and you no longer had the equipment. So, I first subscribed to your channel then I looked at you list of vlogs and found your hysterectomy journey videos. I had mine back in 2016 and everything you experienced, I did too. So happy that you made these to help others. I had a full hysterectomy but my doctor left my ovaries because she said, "You have ovaries of a teenager. They are beautiful". 😂. I had the same bladder issues and I was so happy when that cleared up. I also have a high pain tolerance and only needed the Motrin. Funny thing was when I woke up from surgery and the medicine pump they put in my hand, I though it was to call the nurse if I needed her. I never used the pump. My pain level did go up the second day and they gave me Norco but that was the only time I used it but I felt the Motrin worked better. I was sent home with a prescription for Norco and Ibuprofen but I only used the ibuprofen. I send the Norco back to the pharmacy. Again, Thanks for these vlogs.

I related to a lot of what you’ve experienced especially with the hollow tunnel and getting to the destination and not realizing when you arrived, lol. I am 8 months post-op today. My fibroids weren’t that big when they went in. Not only did I have fibroids I had endometriosis and that’s why my periods were so painful. I feel so much freedom now and my mind is so much at ease knowing that I don’t have to stay in the house my first two days of my cycle and I don’t have to go through that pain anymore. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It helped out more then you know.

Thanks for this video Lynette. Your vlogs through your surgery helped me so much. I am 4 months post op and doing very well. I did not have fibroids but did have the heavy break through bleeding (so I can totally relate to what you were saying). It turned out I actually had cervical cancer and by the grace of God it was contained inside my uterus and they were able to remove it all. I had a laproscopic total hysterectomy (my cervix, ovaries and tubes, and lymph nodes were removed as well). So far I am doing pretty good but I do think I have some minor sleep changes that I didn't even realize until your video. I also went through an emotional period right after surgery where I felt like I was damaged. I have since gotten past that and I am now enjoying life without "aunt flo". It's crazy though because I find myself still carrying pads for protection, my head hasn't quite caught up yet, but I will get there☺️. Thanks again for being so transparent and facilitating a dialogue, it has really been helpful for me. By the way, you look great and I love your hair.

I also had a hysterectomy with removal of my left ovary in 4/2018 I had a mask & cystic on my Lt ovary, with would irruption sometimes with ER visit every-time. Thank God it was benign. Also my uterus had the reverse form of endometriosis / fibroids were growing inside the uterus. Prayers. I have no extra bleeding or spotting after the surgery 4 years later. The right ovary still releases hormones which keeps me from going into menopause. Age 47. When I first found out I had a little meltdown after that I was OK because I knew it had to be done. I’m blessed I have 2 children 26 girl and 23 boy 🙏🏽🤗

Idk what is was about your video that made the difference, but I am so thankful it did. I am on day 11 post-op. Very little pain so far. Never had the gas pains in shoulder and was more worried about that more than anything. I bought everything you suggested on the pre-op video as well. I have yet to feel the exhaustion everyone warned me about as well. I feel great! Like maybe too great because I also am starting to have the insomnia. Hopefully that will calm down soon. Lynette watching your journey was probably 75% of the reason why I went through with getting my hysterectomy as well. Since 2015 I had been diagnosed with a large fibroid. I had never had any of the typical fibroid symptoms. I had normal periods lasting about 4-5 days and heavy bleeding was every now and then. But what I did have was the urine frequency, distended stomach, pain, and pressure feeling like something was sitting in my canal. It was so bad closer to my surgery I could not lay on my stomach because it was so painful. Doing squats, sit-ups, or any exercise for that matter was a struggle with the pain and pressure I felt from this large mass. I wasn’t ready to have the hysterectomy because I did want kids but being 43 not married my time clock was getting shorter and shorter by the day. Then when the doctor had concerns about organ crowding and my kidneys being affected I had to weigh everything. So after watching your transparent journey I said ok you need to do this as this fibroid is going to get bigger and bigger. I had my surgery Dec 2020 laparoscopic removal. My fibroid was also 5 pounds it had also stretched my uterus to 17x the size it should have been. I’m so glad I did because I feel so much better. I’m also struggling to lose the weight but not having the pain and the discomfort is the trade off I’ll take any day. So thank you for sharing your journey and your encouragement because it really helped me to commit to getting mine done.

Lynette, thank you so much for your candid videos. I watch your vlogs before my surgery. They were so helpful and really informative. My story is/was similar to yours into why at 47 I had to have a total laparoscopic hysterectomy. I'm now at 4 weeks and 3 days out from my surgery on 2/4/22, and I'm feeling pretty good. my incisions are sore/ tender and I too had to have am incision to take my uterus out because it was too big. It weighed over a pound. They said it was the size of being 3 months pregnant. Whew! I do get tired quicker but I'm feeling better everyday. My body tells me when I'm doing to much and need to rest. I have to constantly change from sitting, standing, laying down too. The insomnia I had was from the strong pain med they had me on., tramadol. I was chatterbox the day of my surgery and 2 days after that. I would sleep in cat naps, Thankfully I was able to manage the pain with Tylenol and ibuprophen, and didn't use the tramadol after that. Again I just want to tell you how much I appreciated watching your vlogs and am glad I had a good resource to have going into this. God bless. Thank you! Susan

Thank you for your video. Your videos on this subject were a life send this year. I had a hysterectomy in August due to hyperplasia, fibroids, and cysts. Despite the heavy hemorrhaging and a rapidly growing uterus, the first doctor refused to the surgery. Several months later, I found a doctor who would do the surgery and a month later I had the surgery. It was determined that the growth of the fibroids and my uterus resulted in my ureters were almost blocked therefore my kidneys were not fully emptying into my bladder. I am still anemic and fatigued, but I am so happy not to have the hemorrhaging. I have noticed that the weight loss has stopped. I agree that the bladder issues. I didn't have to go to the bathroom as much as I had previously. Love and blessings to you from South Dakota.

I’m so thankful that I ran across your channel for preparation. It was a breeze. I’m 43 as well and had the same issues as you… in fact, I had a hemoglobin of 3 when I was hospitalized so…. The hysterectomy was not a choice. I’m about 9 weeks out. I haven’t had a chance to be sexual but I can tell you two weeks after the procedure I was feeling more sexual than ever. So I don’t know if I lost any feeling. Lol. For me, keto and 18-6 IF has allowed me to lose 20 pounds and still going. But I’m very strict in my keto. I don’t use substitutions for bread or processed food. I cook every day and I’m loving it. But every woman is different. My metabolism was slow so I had to be militant. So far, this is the best thing that could’ve happened for me. Full of energy and no cycle to hold me back. It’s up from here. Thank you for sharing your journey. ❤️

I'm 56 and had my hysterectomy when I was 28. The empty feeling is real. I was also told I didn't need paps anymore. Now, recently, found out I do need them. I still have ovaries and some times get the ovaries cramping. My stomach has a buldge as well. Weight loss is non existence. I'm now taking estradiol. So make sure you keep up your calcium.

Mine was so low that I had to have multiple infusions! I currently have three really large fibroids and I've seen going back and forth with this decision, because there wasn't anything out there to really tell me what's going to happen with other then medical videos. Thank you thank you! I'm now on the fence between full or partial, and pray I don't have to take it all, I'm walking around looking like I'm 5-6 mths pregnant....lol I still thank you for this!

Lynette, you have really been on a journey, I went through the fibroid tumor years ago, 67 now and mine was so huge the doctors thought I was pregnant, but I decided to have the full hysterectomy, ovaries & all b/c one of them was iffy. I was so glad not to have a menstrual cycle, my oldest daughter has had complications from fibroid tumors and my youngest has also, if ever diagnosed, I would advise you to have them removed, if course do your research, it is quite an experience, peace and wellness to you, and lastly I enjoy your and Stanley's coverage on Queen Sugar & The Huntsville show 😉

Thanks so much for sharing your hysterectomy journey. I had a full hysterectomy a year ago January 21st, my doctor took everything I battled with fibroids as well and it was better for me to take everything. I’m 53 years old next month I turn 54 and I’m the same with the stomach and the fat over my incision I still have the inching it’s horrible some days are better than others. But, what I did not know is that the insurance will cover for a tummy tuck?! I have to look into you this.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am 52 and I just stopped having the worst, most heaviest periods right at about 2 years now. I suffered from crime scenes every month, at work, at home, it was the worst. I scared my mom so bad she thought I was dying. There was a trail from my bedroom to the bathroom and all over the toilet seat and bowl where it had run down, was a complete mess. I cramped very bad and I had very low iron. My doctor recommended losing some weight because he thought I would have a hard time healing after the surgery and could possibly have complications because I am overweight. So I suffered for years with heavy cycles, but only in the later years after I had gained weight did they start talking about hysterectomy. Then guess what, 2 years ago I went into menopause. My Dr. told me I would probably start menopause soon and gave me the blood test to check. Then he said we don't consider you into menopause until after you have gone a year without a cycle, So the count down began...lol. Baby, when I hit that one-year mark I was like hallelujah!! Yes, I totally agree with you, not having to plan a vacation around your period is great. I would suggest that women going through this, would do it sooner than later. I waited too late, my quality of life would have been so much better had I done it earlier. My dr. never suggested it. So ladies, you must advocate for your own health, especially if you have a male dr. They never had a period, so when you tell them you have heavy cycles they just don't understand. Speak up to the doctors about all the possibilities and benefits for you. Don't let them generalize you, because everyone is different.

@@Hooten123 Bless your heart. I'm so glad I went into menopause. I can't imagine having cycles like I used to have at this age. It is so pointless. I hope everything works out for you. Do what you feel is best. Your doctor can give you a blood test that will determine your hormone levels and indicate if you are close to menopause or not. So you may want to ask about that. Good Luck!

Hi, I'm just finding this video and it shed some light on the hysterectomy surgery. I've had a couple (the ablation and the uterine embolizatiion) and am still having fibroid issues. I wasn't even considering the surgery as I feel like l am closer to menopause (I'm 48) and didn't see the need. Now, I'm reconsidering for most of the reasons you've mentioned in this video. I don't have the heavy periods like I used to but they seem to come more often. I am also considering switching to another obyn since the one I have mentions the birth control option until menopause kicks in. There's no real need for BC's as I have a tubal ligation. Before I ramble on, thanks for sharing.

One thing i will say is having a hysterectomy seems permanent but temoving3the uterus only removes you from getring the fibroids. We have to find out naturally what caused them in the first place. It may show in another form since your uterus is removed.
@ambernaelitz2561
@ambernaelitz2561 2 месяца назад
When you remove the uterus and cervix fibroids can not grow back. No woman wants to get this surgery. You would think in this day and age there would be something way more less invasive than hysterectomies. The other ways aren’t helpful because fibroids grow back. The medical community/ststem has failed women.
@TheAfiyfah

The cause of fibroids is still undetermined, unfortunately. There are a few studies being conducted, so hopefully we can get more answers.

What your saying is identical to what I’ve felt. I’m about 6 months post hysterectomy. I also have my ovaries still. My “battery” charge is at a minimum. It’s not what it use to be. I went back to the doctor… they - because I asked several doctors “your ok down there”. It’s NOT the same. Most of the sensation is gone. It’s mentally taken a toll on me during this COVID time. I CANT lose weight no matter what I try. I work from home as well. Thank you for sharing most women do not share their experience. BTW I’m 51 yrs. old and thankful that ALL the bleeding is gone. I know this video is a year but it was recommended. I had a total hysterectomy in 2005 because ovarian sacs never had heavy cycles but I would have a cycle twice a month and Sometimes the Sacs ruptured. And the pain was excruciating My family physician suggests in my thirties that I would eventually have to have a hysterectomy So I decided to Go back to my gynecologist. She was awesome Explain everything that needed to be done and even stayed with me, when they put me under and were there when they woke me up I am fortunate did not gain any weight but went down to dress sizes. But the hot flashes were crazy.
