VN24 - Marl / Germany - On Friday 10.07.2020 at 14:27 a.m. a serious accident occurred at the motorway junction Marl-Nord. The driver of an articulated lorry with a tanker trailer (swap body) was heading south on the A43 motorway and intended to change to the A52 at the Marl-Nord motorway junction. For this purpose he took the tangent to the west. On this turnpike, the truck-trailer combination got out of control for unknown reasons and broke through the right-hand guard rails. The entire semitrailer truck crashed down a slope, overturned and came to a halt in a cornfield. A mobile crane straightened the articulated lorry so that the owner of the lorry could transferthe 24,000 kg of flammable liquid in the tank with a second tanker. The towing contractor could then separate the trailer and the tractor. The mobile crane was used a second time and first lifted the trailer onto a low-loader vehicle, after which the tractor unit was recovered. Fortunately, the driver of the accident vehicle was not injured. The recovery lasted until the evening hours.
