Well, one atmospheric experience regarding Stormlord was the fabulous main screen (not the intro) music by Maniacs of Noise (Charles Deenen), and the fairy's different facial expressions. This was during winter, and I had a portable electric heater where you could see the red glowing threads, and it was very snug and cozy with white trees outside.
I would recommend an A1200 if you want an Amiga that can be modded / upgraded more and new upgrades and software is still coming out for it, but the based system is basically a cd32. But expand it you can play some great modern Amiga classic, it is my fav Amiga.
Good video and good luck with the channel. I'm not sure how much they were hidden gems but I was always a fan of Zeewolf, Universe, Valhalla and The Lost Vikings on the Amiga.
The CD32 should cover the AGA games requirements in full, unless you do need things other than games the CD32 should do the job nicely. Personally I'd rather have a nicely upgraded 1200 with something alone the lines of a 68040, a ton of RAM and HDD storage plus a optical drive (CD/DVD reader). And while at it why not some nifty USB expansions. Of yeah, not forgetting to have mandatory Internet connection done via whatever means needed, typically this will be a serial connected adapter, such as the ones based on the ESP8266 or ESP32. Though if you can get an Ethernet based connection from the CPU accelerator directly it would be preferable (will normally need less CPU resources to work than WiFi and be overall a faster link, not to mention the Network features it will support directly such as TCP/IP without the need for "dialer" software and other tools).
Great video and i really enjoy your Amiga stuff, mind you i’m and Amiga lad through and through. I would definitely invest in an A1200 with hard drive and a bit of extra ram, you’d probably then have no need for your Amiga 500. Thanks for supporting the Amiga!
Brian the Lion and Fire and Ice apart from Monkey Island were my most played Amiga games as a kid and I still have my original disks. Maybe because you were playing animals but I absolutely loved them ❤️
Nice ! Risky Woods and Stormlord were on PC's as well as on Amiga ...Also there's very good game I'd like to recommend - the ELf by Ocean from 1991 - adventure/arcade... I have A3000 system by the way - wish I have AGA based machine, too..)
While I'll agree with you that each and every game in this video is pure gold, I will disagree with the hidden gems tag, as every one of them (with the exception of tin toy and xtreme racing maybe) was anything BUT a hidden gem. All of them were widely known in their time...
looks like you're running "Extreme Racing" in blocky low-res mode - you can quadruple the screen resolution by hitting ESC (during race) (or maybe it was TAB?), then selecting 1x1 pixel resolution. :-) yeah, it's a great game, and you can nullmodem-link two Amigas for up to 8 players.
In case of DreamWeb, it`s good to search for Ryan Journal that was part of booklet for box release of the game as it adds a lot to the general lore of game and explains a lot of story (plus the game might be unplayable for some without materials from the booklet). As for Amiga 1200, well hard question. If You focus on emulation, things like Amiga Mini and just games then Amiga 1200 is not that needed BUT if You want to use real Amiga and have the best experiance of it, the better graphics thanks to AGA chipset, faster work and for sure more ways to expand then Amiga 1200 is the best choice and outclasses A500 or A600 easly in everything. For sure some games simply require A1200 and even when they can be played on A600 the experiance is lacking and insert meme "but why?" in here. Good example, Alien Breed 3D II could be played on A600....in post stamp screen size, without celing, floors, light effects and in magnificent turtle speed of movement, not realy a way to play it. So as a Amiga fan You should decide what will be the A1200 purpose. As for me i would say go for it :)
Brilliant Deliverance wow I totally forgot about that game… time to download for my a500 mini.. I great game I love is Yo joe.. think you might like that one.
I loved the first level of Deliverance, but each level after that was less appealing to me. I hated the last level, which was a horizontal shooter. I think it was the fact that each level changes so radically from the previous one. I was expecting 2-3 levels of the castle, then maybe 2-3 levels of a different area, etc. Instead, the game is only four levels long, and only the first three are platform levels. Not that I ever finished the game without cheating. I could beat the first level easily, but the second and third levels kicked my butt.
Good games. I played and beat DreamWeb, it was indeed a fantastic experience. I also played Battle Squadron but never finished it, but I remember the amazing soundtrack.
Please check out more obscure and lesser known Amiga games like Archipelagos, Virus, Pioneer Plague and the completely bizarre Knights of The Crystallion. It's always worth getting an A1200! Fantastic video as always!
You got to try Traps n treasures, doodle bug, Arabian nights. Try the cd32 Fire and Ice version. It doesn't have graphic bugs. Another game that usually has bugs is Lionheart but the cd32 version is ok.
Nice List some of those I definitely need to dust down and give a try... That Tin Soldier reminded me a lot of Doodle Bug, so I must give it a go... For me I think my favourite hidden gems on the Amiga, outside your list would be: 1. Woody's World (Brilliant Platform game in the style of Mario 3) 2. Moonstone (Gory Beat em up Adventure... taking the idea of Barbarian (Palace) further. 3. Switchblade 2 (Great platformer, feels quite console like) 4. Buggy Boy (Ok perhaps not a hidden gem... but I adore this racing game). 5. Hybris (the prequel to Battle Squadron and the one I prefer playability wise) 6. Ruff 'n Tumble (amazing run and gun game) 7. Harlequin (not a hidden gem to Amiga owners, but a great platformer for others to try.) 8. Vroom (amazing 3D race, very fast). 9. Alien Fish Finger (Amazing PD game, zoomed out run and gun platformer) 10. Drip (I can't stop playing this PD arcade maze painting game.) Others I adore... PD games would be Motorolla Invaders 2, Rollerpede and Extreme Violence. Other games Roadkill, I also have a real soft spot for Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo... love the music and its a fun platformer (oh also Hudson Hawk).
Fire & Ice was a pretty popular game back in the day, wouldn't consider it a hidden gem......Battle Squadron is one of my favourite Amiga titles, still super fun to play though!
Nice Amiga games :) Have sometimes been thinking about getting Amiga 1200 as well, would be nice to experience the AGA graphics and the newer operating system. I even have some games and other software on the Amiga magazine cover disks, which works only with Amiga 600 / 1200, and not with my A500. But oh boy they are rare and expensive these days.
I think it's worth getting an A1200 if you want to use Workbench and different applications, especially if you want to go on the internet with the Amiga since you can get PCMCIA network and wireless cards which the CD32 can't use. If you really only want to stick to games, the CD32 with a RAM expansion should be enough.
Should you get an Amiga 1200? You know the answer. Absolutely! The CD 32 is pretty much the same thing, but still, there's something about that beige beauty that you'll love seeing alongside your existing collection of Amigas.

If you’ve got the money for an A1200 absolutely grab one, even if it’s only to compare & contrast with the CD32.

Their choices of games are often hit and miss, to dam wright disappointing.! ☹️. Your list is amazing and varied! They already have STORMLORD on the new c64 Cartridge out soon.
