If they’re a narcissist, they ARE a waste of time-their mere existence guarantees that they WILL waste your time, if you allow them access to it. Never once. have i encountered a narc who had the, "I want to always add value to every interaction" ethos.

People with avoidant/disorganised attachment styles can also come across as narcissistic at times. There is a fine line between the two. Someone I know and am close to comes over like this now and then and I have to remind myself that they are not a narcissist. It's hard work sometimes.

@@edgreen8140 I believe it stems from the person having low self esteem, negative body/features image also. I think the difference is that a narcissist will usually lap up the attention and compliments you give them, where as someone who is avoidant/anxious will not necessarily accept the compliment of making them feel better within themselves. There is the fine line but also a total difference. Very hard to figure out in people...and then also there are varying degrees of narcissism on the spectrum from mild to severe. I think most of us carry some narcissistic traits from time to time. The world has made a lot of people this way.

If you can, try to get this person to learn from people modeling the DESIRED behavior. Non-narcs would appreciate the tip, since it’ll likely impact their quality of life by increasing their success w/ interpersonal interactions. If you have to explicitly state what to do & not do, then try that. When I was in my20s, I worked w/ a woman who said that I had a harsh tone when I spoke (I’m an INTJ woman, so that’s likely why-I’m just direct, unlike most females who can be passive-aggressive & fake. Gender was likely a factor in her comment, since her boss spoke harshly, but she didn’t seem to mind.). I’ve always been polite & considerate, so this was more the auditory version of “judging a book by its cover.” I did accept her tips gracefully AND gratefully, and haven’t received a comment like that since. 😊

It's so sad,that narc win due to: 1. People having no idea what a healthy relationship is,in order to set a standard or boundary 2.good loving people,keep giving chances to them,in hopes that theyll improve but they waste their whole lives,while he's building another one or 10 of them🥴
