Ive lived in france for 12 years, in the alps. Fashion varies alot from city to region but my personal favs are the classic jeans with blue blazer look. Flat cute ballerinas. Scarves. They love scarves here. And no, the french dont do logos. It very discreet. I love it here. Great vid x
I was raised in Europe when there was no "fast fashion", and the practice was always buy the best you can afford, natural fibres, and take very good care of clothes shoes, everything. This has been invaluable, and spending time in Paris as a teenager helped develop own style early. The whole logo thing is more recent, and often seems a bit vulgar, more a way of displaying money and status, than actual style and I do think Social media has contributed to this. I don't find the cropped flare flattering on short people (me!!) , and you too looked taller, leggier, and so much more chic in the dark wash jeans. Loved the video, and glad you had a great trip in Africa☘😍
I’m French Canadian and love the Parisian style of dressing and makeup/hair! I have clothes and shoes that I’ve owned for years. I know the classics will always be ok to wear! And I’m a fabric snob…. Linen, cotton, silk, wool and as I’m getting older( 72 years old) I appreciate a touch of Lycra in my jeans! Lol I really enjoyed this video . Thank you for your informative videos on styles and trends.
Love Sezane! I live in the Midwest and I have been buying Sezane for years now, love their customer support and how easy is to shop from them; how fast I get my box from France and love the company. BTW word of the wise: their clothing is geared for the typical European woman, meaning small to small-medium breast and hips; so keep that in mind when looking at their clothes.
Hi Erin I love your red lip. Congratulations on your sponsorship with Se'zane. I just watched a video where a girl picked up a pair of brand beautiful shoes in that brand at a thrift store. I liked this video because I have almost completely quit shopping at the mall or online. Our Saturday date is estate sales and you can only get the more classic styles. I have gotten beautiful scarves ( think a lot of people travel and a scarf is an easy piece to bring home) , blazers, winter coats, trench coats , leather purses, things that have lasted for years. Clothes are very inexpensive at estate sales. I have gotten rid of so many clothes this winter and spring that I bought on impulse and don't spark joy. You look beautiful in everything as usual. ♡♡♡♡
Such a lovely video Erin! I love French style, I was in Paris for my birthday last year and I was just blown away by how stylish the French people are. And I agree with you, TikTok has some extremely creative people, they have easy fixes and hacks for everything 😂
Love this “ Classic “ French video! Always appropriate! When we travel to France and northern Italy we find that most women dress very understated and always very stylish!
When I was in my teens, I fell in love with Audrey Hepburn's style and still love it. My closet is full of the kind of pieces you highlighted today..some from online resale sites. Who knew I had French style? 😂 Love the video, Erin! XO ❤️
I will never get used to the shorter flares. Sorry to say, but I find them very unflattering. I never want to say anything negative in the comments, but these, I have to.
I used to feel the same way but I tried a pair on (I’m pear shaped) and omg they are so cute and flattering. I really think it depends on the shape for the pants overall.
Stripes have always been in my wardrobe-even as a kid. I love stripes. I have an hourglass figure, but that has never kept me from wearing stripes. They are so versatile, classic, and FUN to wear!
Erin!😊 If you keep looking better and better...you will look younger than my 42 years old daugther! Love everything! I wear this style mostly all the time! Maybe it's because I am french and I look at your helpful videos! 😉 God Bless!🦋🦋🇨🇦🌷
J'adore les femmes françaises! One of my favorite things about my trip to Paris was watching the women. They really do have that effortless elegance. Thank you for bringing me back there with this video!
I lot of women in Paris are foreigners from other European countries, just FYI! I know because my sister lives there and so does her Romanian friend and her friend from Martinique… 😉😆
Erin gets it right with choosing classic style and quality, over quantity._ the key to being well-dressed. Many style bloggers constantly shop and purchase cheap clothing that looks like cheap clothing.
So much of the effortless and chic style that Europeans do so well comes from dressing with intention and ease, in well-fitting, and cared for quality pieces- this makes one FEEL good which automatically reflects in how we carry ourselves 💕 my style words are comfort, function, quality...always with a nod to soft, feminine, and often with a twist of rock n roll or 70 s vibe.
Sezane is one of my favourites too! I too love everything they produce As a breast cancer survivor their involvement just increases my love for the brand. I do have French ancestry so my love runs deep. Thank you for accenting them . Good job Erin ❤️🇨🇦♥️🇨🇦❤️
I love the Parisienne style. I wear ballet flats a lot to work, they are so comfortable and I feel put together when I wear them. I also love wearing white sneakers. I would love to wear scarves more.
Sezane is my favorite retailer! How beautifully do they package their items? When the box arrives at my door, it looks like artwork! Anyway, I really appreciate your focus on European brands. The style is just so chic and timeless.
Thank you so much for catering to us, who are watching from Europe! I love your approach to both sustainability and ethical production. It combines my love for fashion and at the same time being an ethical consumer.❤️
I love that you showed the Breton. I am going to Paris in the Fall, and it is on my list to get a Breton sweater. I loved this video. Red lips suit you perfectly. You look so good in classic clothing.
I heard about Sezane a couple of years ago by Dearly Bethany and felt in love with this brand. As you said the price sometimes put people of but I started buying second hand pieces and also purchased some sale itens too. Great quality and stylish too. Love the video! I usually use the small scarf on my hair when is up.
Been collecting pieces from Sezane for a few years. I appreciate the quality, the classic-romantic style, and the ongoing commitment to keep doing better on sustainability. The one thing I find tricky now for the north american/canadian emails, is that when they launch new collections and send out to their customers, the favourite pieces are gone within ½ hour. Problem of popularity I guess.
The french Style really joins in the timelime of old money Fashion and quit luxury so far i understand the momentum but i love you Erin exspecially for your fresh and youthful style so think you should know that 🎉🎉🎉
Great video, Erin! I love these looks! I'm currently wearing a white button down shirt, high waisted blue jeans with a leather belt and slides! I love shopping at Sezane! Beautiful pieces of clothing! Thanks for this one!
I adore the brand's ethos and beautiful aesthetics but the size inclusivity leaves a lot to be desired. Going up to a size 14 leaves out a huge portion of the globe. I would say adding even two sizes like 16 and 18 would make a huge difference!
I'm loving this brand so much, Lina! So glad you think their products as beautiful too. I'm seeing that quite a few do go up to a size 16, but it's always important to double check size/fit guides to be sure of the fit on specific pieces. Thanks for watching! xo
I am so excited you’re partnering with Sezanne. I love their pieces. Some favorites are the Leontime striped sweater and Cloe blouse. They have such beautiful feminine pieces. Also have the white oversized button down. Thanks for the tucking tip.
I just ordered a handbag from Sezane the day before yesterday and it’s going to be delivered today! I am hooked on this beautiful retailer! Thanks Erin, and I remember -50 in Watertown, NY. 😂😂😂🥶
I love the sustainable look! I know trends are fun but really the good quality items are what will be more sustainable! Quality not quantity is what is we can learn from the europeans/French. My mom is Swiss and she has not many items in her closet but what she has is quality and will last her for years to come :)
I loved this, Erin! This is a great summary of what to wear in France, especially three seasons of the year. I have all these pieces in one form or another, so now I know what to pack. I follow a Parisian fashionista here on YT and I confirm that your picks are similar to what she has advised! Way to go. You studied in France, I studied in Geneva, lol. Wasn't that the experience of a lifetime (like yours -- that Paris video you did is so aspirational). Sézane is a wonderful brand. Yay! 🤩
Always enjoy your presentations. Thank you. My style is so classic/ leaning into boring. But I love it. I miss the magnificent high qualify Navy Jacket I got a bit larger forcing me to pass it on to my daughter. When I traveled for work continually, I learned that it was smart to use scarves rather than Jewlery. Now I continue to choose scarves and now the larger ones. Funny about logs. When my husband chose to purchase me a Vuitton. Of course is was NOT large as I only like small bags. It was a style I have never seen in the US. No knock offs. I literally wore it out. Now as a widow, I can no longer afford a Vuitton. But would carry one if it was affordable for my income level.
🌹🇲🇫The absolute best video I've ever seen "decoding" French/Parisian style! Having lived in Paris, following your video, one will feel perfectly French in France! Merci, Erin❤❤❤ (Would love to see a video on Italian styling---a completely different style)
So much of what you say, I can agree with .... thank you. I am an American but French heritage. Don't know how I learned, for think French when dressing. The scarf moves my boring (by choice) fashions up a bit. I still have the magnificent blue Trench purchased before my youngest son (age 50-ish) was born. And, correct, when learning to enjoy only a few classic pieced, in basic color, my mind set is NEVER.... "I have nothing to wear. Always easy.
You'll always get me with a video about French fashion! I went to school in Paris for a semester and oh yeah, the scarves were everywhere! I started wearing them and did for years until maybe the past 5 years. I'm still on the lookout for a true stand-out that I love. The Breton however? I don't know if I ever will get the classic. I have a version by Tommy Bahama I picked up at Marshall's years ago - slim fit with a broad open neck in white and royal blue. I love it but it's really showing it's age. I never wore it as a staple but more of one of those special occasion pieces.
I LOVE that video, years ago I mentioned to you that I would love you to show higher quality. Shopping for cheap clothing is not a intelligent thing to do. I go to second hand store and score quality clothing that will have for many years. Yes I live in Italy and there is a lot of cashmere, linen, wool and silks that are incredible in the cut and quality. All this to say that I am very happy to follow you. Ciao
thanks so much for this video Erin, we are heading over to the UK in July, I have some lovely dresses and trousers with wedges and slingback shoes. A light weight trench and a packable fedora. thanks for the reminder to "tone it down" which makes all the things easier. I find it very satisying to have these classic travel pieces in my wardrobe, some for many years, and I am always excited to wear them.
Hi Erin, another great video, thank you so much. But Europe is not only the French. Please also do a video about Italians, British, Germans, and so on...and do not forget the Scandinavians, in my personal opinion the ones with the best sense of style. I am looking forward to it
Just looking at classic French style for this particular video, but all are great styles to look at and feel inspired by! Thanks so much for watching and sharing this topic idea, Lorraine! xo
I love Sezanne. I have been watching "Fashion and Style Edit" videos from England for a few years now and she features Sezanne a lot. I would purchase more of their pieces, but they are expensive for me now that I am retire. However, I have all of those pieces right now in my closet. A few days ago, I realized I did not have a pair of cognac-colored sandals and looked all over the internet for a pair. I finally found a pair from Macy's, but I love the cognac clogs too. I have a pair of similar white clogs from last year. I loved the jeans, so my style. And of course, those Dior sling backs make me swoon. Thank you, Erin. You look great today with the red lippy. ;-)
Agreed, Jess from Fashion & Style Edit channel is the RU-vid influencer who got me hooked on Sezane a couple years ago. The Sezane prices are pretty steep, but when we consider how clothes from ordinary US retailers like Banana Republic and Express have escalated in price, I find Sezane's quality and extraordinary design detail beats most US brands by comparison.
Magnifique! I would just say one small thing. Back in the day, the term button-down-shirt meant an oxford-type shirt where the collar points buttoned down onto the shirt. Over time, the term has morphed into meaning a shirt that buttons down the front. For us Seniors, perhaps the words button-up-shirt might be more historically accurate. But you probably already knew that, and it's your blog. Merci pour votre temps.
I’ve been a Sezanne fan for many years - I can see you’re wearing one of their tops, I have the same one - their service is second to none I live in Australia and purchases are delivered to my front door within days - their returns process is also brilliant - their knitwear is some of the very best I’ve ever purchased - not a fan of the shorter flared pant, it is unflattering on most body types and you certainly won’t find French adult women wearing them - the Sezanne trench coats are fabulous - high quality and classic I have two one in the olive and the other in camel - most French women have a Longchamp bag or two in their wardrobe
My standards are white button down, Chanel ballet flats, loafers, trench coat beige & black, straight leg jeans, stripe tees, cashmere or silk scarves.
Thanks! I must have a dozen St. James striped tops and I just keep buying them - classic and last forever. Also shout out to Sézane - just bought their Scott Trench. I’m partial to Italian brands but really like these two companies.
I prefer the longer flares makes me appear taller than I already am. Can’t really go wrong with the trench coat. The flats make me feel like Im dragging my feet so I have to have some height to my shoe.. enjoy your videos!
These are great and pretty straightforward options .😊 The slimmer jean silhouette seems to suit you better as Petite. I feel like the loose crop wide leg was cutting you off greatly 😊 a fitted crop kick flare might work better .
