Paradroid - You can shoot the other robots, but you won't get very far that way. Instead, you have to take over the robots. You do this by holding the button until your robot starts flashing, then you run into the robot you want to control. It will then go to a transfer mini-game. You can pick which side you want to take. Each side will have a certain number of shots to try and turn a majority of the center squares to their color. If both sides shoot the same square, whichever side shot last will control it. If one of the lines has a small triangle in that color, it will permanently change that square, even if the other side shoots it after. The things that kind of look like car brake pads are computer consoles. You can access them to get various information by running into them an pressing the button. The things that look like hatches with a circle split into quarters, are elevators/lifts that will take you to other decks on the ship. Finally, you will find spots with a swirling thing on them. This will sometimes recharge your energy. Apparently it recharges energy lost from just controlling the robot, but not energy lost by getting shot, although there is no way to know which is which or when you can recharge and when you can't. The faster your robot is rotating, the more energy you have. Archon - The color of the squares affects your strength in battle. White squares are best for the light (yellow) side, while black squares are best for the dark (blue) side. On a favorable square, your piece has more health and your shots do more damage, while the enemy is weaker and his shots do less damage. After you shoot/attack, there is a recharge/reload period before you can attack again. A high pitched tone indicates that the light piece is ready, while a low pitched tone indicates that the dark piece is ready. The other colored squares affect the battles based on how light or dark they are. The colors cycle from white to black and back again, going through two lighter colors and two darker colors. You can win the game by eliminating all the opponent's pieces, or capturing the five flashing power points. The wizard and sorceress are the most powerful pieces and shouldn't be moved off their squares if you can avoid it, as that's where they're safest. The spells; Exchange - Swap any two pieces. Teleport - Send one of your pieces anywhere on the board. Imprison - Piece can't move or cast spells until the color changes to their color. Shift Time - Make the color change cycle reverse direction. Revive - Bring back a dead piece and place it around the wizard/sorceress. Heal - Heals a piece. Summon Elemental - Randomly summons an elemental creature (water, air, earth, fire) to fight for you. Win or lose, it disappears when the fight is over. Elementals aren't affected by the square color. Each spell can only be used once and they can't be cast against power points. In other words, you can't teleport a piece onto a power point, or heal a piece on a power point. Power points provide their own healing boost anyway.

Great selection. The allure of these older games was their, in parts, abstract nature and artistic freedom. My favorite as a child was Apple Cider Spider - the moving fruit was fascinating to watch. On a side note - Impossible Mission2's art style was, when compared to the predecessor, a severe let down. Would be cool if somebody talented made an improved "part 3".

Impossible Mission is way better the IM 2. Apple Cider Spider is a fun game.
