Great advise Jeff. I am new to your channel and appreciate the angle of helping older dudes style up. I cannot emphasize how important a good taylor is, but also that you learn how to communicate to them what you need. My taylor was trying to give me a traditional fit (looser) and I had to keep insisting "tighter, tighter". She finally got it and now we flow.

Great list and so happy you mentioned fit. Sizing down is something I've started doing for my sweaters. Many sweaters are just too baggy. As for a style upgrade suggestion, I've recently started wearing turtlenecks. They are great under sport coats and blazers, by themselves, or even under a suit if you want a casual look. If you had to own one, I'd go with Black, followed by Navy, Burgandy, and Gray. Great socks are a must too. Fun, stripes, pocka-dots, etc. are all great choices. Match them with your tops, tie, etc. and it adds a nice extra flare to your outfit.

Just recently started adding boots to the wardrobe. Picked up a pair of light brown suede. They fit great and go with a lot of the outfits I currently have. Looking to add a pair of chelsea boots soon. Loving your videos!

Hey O.G I just stumbled upon this channel and I gotta say this is much needed. Some guys like me had a Dad who knew all of this but he passed away too soon. I still like my J’s too! The overcoat is great addition to the wardrobe if you can find one that fits. I have long arms and a slim frame, so off the rack coats don’t work that well for me. Finding a tailor that can take a bulkier coat with the arm length I need, and still form fitting it to my frame has been difficult. I’ll keep trying to find the right overcoat to add it to my wardrobe. Keep up the good work!

Yo style OG happy new year! This video is definitely on my goals list for 2020. the 2 items that stuck out are the overcoat and the boots. The style upgrade I would suggest is on the grooming side, I remeber a while back you did a video on which you mentioned rocking a goldtee and switch to a beard. the second would be accessories like a watch or even trying a new wallet. thanks again for another great video!

Great video, Jeff! I would add a few ties to the list. Ties can sometimes be a difficult accessory to pick out, for men just getting started with their style journey. I would recommend either 100% silk or at least a silk blend, and 3 ties with distinct looks. A solid tie in a dark color, a striped tie (maybe with a subtle gold or silver accent stripe), and a tie with a small, repeating pattern

Ryan, I read your post and I have to totally agree the idea and with your tie selection. Sometimes tie shopping can overwhelm your eyes and brain. It's nice to break it down into categories like you did. One of the other style guys broke it down kind of like that. O.G. I think did too awhile back. But yeah, one with small pattern, one with stripe, one dark (for me, Navy), solid. Salute.

As an over 60 style guy I highly agree with the chinos recommendation. Jeans on older guys are really hit and miss on fit for me. My preferred brands fir work are Woodies Clothing or LL Bean. For running around on a Saturday the Target brand chinos hit the mark for a very affordable price.

OG, style upgrade #1 for me in 2020 . I’m on the hunt for that do it all Navy Blazer . I like the JCrew Ludlow Slim fit or Classic Legacy Blazer in a 46L. It’s hard for me to find my size , imma tall Brotha 6’4” , 225lbs. So “FIT Is King “ for me. I’m using your tactics and found a Jcrew Navy blazer on ebay similar style but I gotta make sure the fit is right. Headed to JCrew manana to try my size and go from there. Great video content OG as is normal for you to make these perfectly timed vids. What do you think about my thinking on brown wingtips. I couldn’t decide between an open lacing like the derby/bloucher style and an Oxford. I went with Oxford style cause the brogue already makes it casual and the Oxford closed lacing system makes it not to casual so I can dress it up too.
