Not really sure why anyone would think the 9/11 photo was legit. Being a New Yorker, I was already aware that access to the roof of 1 WTC was restricted at some point after the 93 bombing. So there wouldn't be any tourists present at all, let alone at 8:46 in the morning.

I know Watchmojo clarified "fake" as being manipulated to an extent, but I think there needs to be a distinction between a fake photograph and a staged photograph. "Lunch Atop A Skyscraper" isn't "fake" simply because the men were posing - they're still very much eating atop a skyscraper!

I thought a staged photograph is still real but it being an accident ie not staged doesn’t mean it’s fake also removing a couple things like a watch or something also doesn’t mean the photo is faked just slightly doctored. Sometimes when I take a photograph and something happens in the picture that I didn’t intend on like a finger accidentally in the corner photo I will edit out the finger but that doesn’t mean the photo is a fake

The last one wasn't a fake image The raising of the flag at Iwo Jima It simply wasn't the first flag. And it never had been quoted as such, people simply assumed it was

I clearly witnessed a fake, here, the changing of military planes to passenger planes, and the nose sticking out the other side of a building was clearly fake. How they managed to change what eye witnesses saw as military planes, to passenger planes, is something that I would love to know. My heart goes out to the passenger on those planes that were diverted elsewhere, as they would have been murdered.

@@davidparkes7741 Not according to persons on the ground. Things were altered afterwards, for footage transposed to appear passenger planes. The planes were probably made of balsa wood, as we used to do in the last war, airfield filled with balsa wood planes, life size, to fuel the enemy that we had more planes than we had. The same was the case with military vehicles, except they were inflatable.

This should’ve been two separate lists. One list being fake photographs (the 9/11 tourist) and the other list being misunderstood or misinterpreted photographs (Lunch Atop a Skyscraper and Iwo Jima flag raising). The latter two were real but can often be misunderstood.

That 9-11 tourist one is iconic to me. I was in high school right across the river when that happened and that picture seemed to sum up the random tragedy of it all. Who ever made that, definitely had that same sentiment in mind.

Except the individual in the picture would have hit the ground on that unfortunate morning, if he were actually there. Especially the North tower, where no one above the impact survived.

I knew this photo was fake the moment I laid eyes on it many years ago. 1) He's wearing winter clothing. 2) The observation deck was at the top of WTC2 which was the second building hit and it was hit by United Airlines Flight 175 coming from south to north, not American Airlines as shown in the fake photo. People will believe ANYTHING these days just because they saw it on the internet.

I hope the guy that faked the 911 photo got his ass kicked. I was at the flight 93 memorial and seen a couple laughing and taking selfies at the crash sight. I went off! no f*cking respect.

7:23 I've printed out and shared this image to a few relatives. I knew it was fake when I saw that jet plane in the picture. I've seen the original Iwo Gima sculpture at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum I guess in 2003.

I didn't recognize any of these photos but I do know one that is kinda iconic(at least I think so) its the picture of the Loch Ness Monster. It was a dinosaur toy attached to a submarine. I was kinda shocked when I found that out but yeah that's the most iconic fake photo in my opinion.

Seems like a lot of people in these comments are trippin' 😅 and yes some aren't truly "fake", BUT the narrator explains in the first minute saying in plain words starting at 0:23 : "For this list, we'll be considering the most iconic, historical images that underwent SOME FORM OF manipulation" The word "fake" is not accurately used in the title but that is obviously to get us to click on the video 🤣. People are funny. Just watch the video and chill 😎.

When the soldiers were raising the flag on Mt. Suribachi, they weren't doing it for the cameras. They were doing it because they needed to plant a new flag. So, yes, the flag-raising is real.

No it was not fake, it was staged they really were up that high. So it was real just like the last one the flag was raised just the second one so it was not fake either.

I watched a documentary about the picture at 3:05. They spent days upon days trying to figure out which picture was taken first until someone realized that all they needed to do was determine which picture had rocks that had rolled down the hill on the left side of the frame. The photo that showed certain rocks lower than in the other photo was the one that would have been taken 2nd as those rocks would not have rolled _up_ the hill.

That 9/11 “tourist” one was debunked by someone photoshopping in the Stay Puft Marshmellow man into the same picture.😂 (also debunked as the observation deck didn’t open until 9am, AFTER the first plane hit.

The photo of the guy on top of the world trade center i remember seeing that pic in the newspaper about a day or 2 just after september 11 and thought how did a pic like that get developed and released and had a feeling it was a fake image and sure enough its fake

I have lots of family on the east coast of Canada many work in the fishing industry. My one uncle captains a tug boat hahaha but when he saw the one Tsunami photo he said instantly it was fake for exactly the same reason ... said the waves never break in such an event.

there is a big difference between a photoshopped picture and a staged photo. plus also editing the picture to enhance quality of the image does not qualify it as "fake". as for the National Geographic cover, it's completely understandable that they got a cool shot of the Pyramids but that they are to wide-set to fit on the portrait-cover. They wanted to use the shot, so a little trickery was necessary.
