I can sympathize with Ken Shamrock...I had a heart spasm due to high blood pressure a few years back, mimicking the symptoms of a heart attack. It's painful and debilitating and scary as hell. No way could you keep fighting, and no way would you even want to try to.
@@MrMalicious5 What are you talking about? When Chael did that legendary flip he flinged Fedor from his back to the other side of the cage head first, knocking him out.
I tell ya, i hope your comment gets 1 million likes. You can see his opponents stupidity after sayin "wtf man". Not many cut from his cloth nowadays, stand up gentleman.
Yeah that was my favorite one off this list, that’s how all MMA fans and practitioners should think. In the UFC obviously the objective is to destroy your opponent until the referee stops the fight... but corners should know when to throw the towel in more. It’s just a better investment than your fighter taking brain damage
@@kennethwilkinson2095 nah he could have submitted him with his level of skill over his opponent. No damage done. But really it would have saved him some shame of your opponent "giving it to you" because he was kicking your ass too bad and felt bad.
I'm sure Ivey really likes having Fulton's face tattooed on his body now. In 2021 Fulton killed himself in jail after being charged with sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography.
@@CalloPasta no it wasn't you tool shed! It was to not rack up a huge medical bill on someone, especially during such a small amateur bout. Forfeiting a wind is the opposite of self-serving, goofy ah dude!
What. What feels good about that? What did he do that was heroic? Let's just say they were friends. How does robbing his friend of any amount of pride help him? Fuck that shit. My friends and i boxed and wrestled each other all the god damned time growing up. There was never some bs like "I'm winning, let me show how great I am by purposefully giving up to show how great i am!" That was never on the menu. Ever. That's a weak fucking move to anyone that's ever done this kind of stuff.
@@notme3686 I think it was more because it was an amateur fight with little money on the table, therefore the fight escalating any further would leave them both in tough economic situations. Strength is cool and all but medical bills can’t be punched away...
@@notme3686 hurr durr i boxed as a teen and wrestled with my friends i obviously caused as much damage as a trained fighter that could inflict career ruining injuries in a fight for no money its totes the same. Idiot.
When you tap out, you've technically said "This is a fight I don't want to continue anymore." As I'm not against tapping out, I'm also not against someone taking a major beating and then deciding they've had enough. At least that way, they can look forward to returning to the ring again healthy to try another day.
Good point. No shame if a fighter protects himself, even if the crowd might find it less Interesting. Fighters should prioritize their health above all
Ain’t that the truth...the phrase “everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face” comes to mind..I’ve been in many fights..one thing I learned real quick is you will get hit, and you might lose, but don’t back down from someone..I’ve turned many enemies into good friends just because neither of us would back down and you gain major respect if someone is willing to get hit by you..
@@Sublime-ik3lx benefits of being a sadist and a masochist. When in the right mood I'll gladly get hit and return it with interest. May not be the best fighter but I've got that going for me at least.
I was in a bar late one night in Moscow (I’m Australian) and some dude sauntered up and asked my girlfriend (at the time- my wife now) whether she was available for the night. I obviously didn’t take lightly to this and told him and his mate to fuk off out of the place. Luckily they were pissed (as Russians often are) and they both left cos I’m sure they woulda kicked my arse.
@@Wonderkid44 True, but you can't do that for 330 plus fights. Eventually it will catch up to you. Especially when he lost 46 fights by knockout over his career. End of the day, he killed himself instead of facing child pornography and paedophilia charges.
@@Basetornado i actually had no idea who fulton was or what his record was. That’s crazy, im not an mma guy but a boxing guy, so learnt something new, and yh thats probably why, damn its so screwed up
Dantdt I’m very aware of the story don’t worry but I firmly believe he was on it for years for multiple justified reasons imo he either messed up his cycle for that fight or simply took more than usual to help for the cut and the overall energy for the fight, there’s many obvious hints that he was using way before the cejudo fight
Love this channel. To be honest, I liked the old music more than the new stuff. It's gotten old and really detracts from what I'm trying to pay attention to. Keep up the great vids!
I think a mention worth this list would be Jiri Prochazka vs Vadim Nemkov as they are really exciting prospects (Nemkov fighting for the title in Bellator and Prochazka recently KOed Volkan). They met in a Rizin tournament semi-finals in 2015, fought a brutal 10 minute first round with lots of back and forth and after that, Nemkov refused to go to the second round citing exhaustion. Quite an interesting move, considering what was on the line (I recall there was a rumour was that the prize money for the winner of that tournament was 500k$). Prochazka talked about this in some interviews, essentialy saying that at the end of the round, he stood up quicky, smiled intensely at Nemkov and told him something along the lines that he's looking for the second round (even though he was exhausted, but didn't want to show that). Apparently, that broke Nemkov's will and he refused to continue :D
Huge props to the guys who tapped out to prevent hurting people. That shows a lot of class. Also, just as an interesting side note, Cesaro, the wrestler pictured when talking about knocking out front teeth, actually had both of his teeth shoved straight up into his gums after smashing his face into the steel top of the turnbuckle.
Chael stepped aside mid-fight vs Fedor because ESPN offered him a broadcasting contract the moment they saw the largest arms in West Linn in real life.
MMA On Point always brings the heat. Been digging the love y’all have gotten from the UFC when the show your tweets mid fight! -Big Indiana Love & Respect! 💯
@@jeremybrown9611 the Wonderboy fights changed Woodley. That whole "You have to beat the Champ to be the Champ." Mentality is what costed him. That mentality makes most title fights boring. The Champ doesn't have to actually fight to keep his title.
@@jeremybrown9611 I dunno, Woodley's weakness had always been carefully applied, high volume pressure that makes him wither mid-fight (see his fights with Rory and Shields). He's fantastic against brawlers who look to trade (at which point he can just hover against the fence and counter OHKO them early, with the occasional stutter-step blitz for good measure), and can stall out folks who won't persistently engage and let him keep his gas tank (e.g., Wonderboy), but if you have a decent jab/body attack and can sustain pressure, he's been shown to tap out mentally, and that's been the case long before he became champ.
Ivey is a really good dude. I’ve been booked to fight in his amateur league and all of my teammates fight for him. Really friendly, loves to teach, overall just a solid guy
Why are people SO critical of this account and the video format? I understand that MMA On Point is trying to change things up and keep it fresh, I definitely don’t think they deserve the “I hate the new music” and “quit showing your stupid face” comments. Good content...that what I come here for! Thanks for bringing us this much content so consistently! Well done.
It's such a messed up situation. You don't want to hurt your friend anymore than you have to but you also don't want to complete decimate the dude's pride. He was ready to keep going. He was obviously outclassed and would have hurt himself in the end but he wanted to fight still. Guess you have to save a fighter from himself sometimes.
@@forcedentry2010 Maybe take him down and submit him? That should be fairly safe especially if you use a choke. Idk though, I get where they guy was coming from for sure
@@silverfang4583 Presumably he would tap out and the ref would stop the fight before death lol I think in an MMA fight there is a higher chance of injuring a limb with a jointlock than there is of killing or even causing brain damage with a choke.
The subject of this video intrigued me to where I wanted to watch it. I really enjoyed it! It was really -- and by really I really mean REALLY -- full of information!!! The video clips of the talked-about fights were excellently edited. Jason, you deliver the narration quite well as well. Overall, a greatly made video with professional quality. I wound up giving this here video a GREAT, BIG, HUMONGOUS "thumb's up", subscribed to the channel, and clicked on the bell icon to receive all of the notifications!!! Please keep up the marvelous work!
Little story for y'all, not 100% confirmed but I believe my sources. When Brandao trained in Albuquerque at Jacksons he became close friends with a lot of people I know, he barely knew English & came straight from Brazil so he bonded with a few people here who he's still friends with (he's a wild guy). Anyway after UFC he bounced around & ended up in Russia. He did two fights with this fight nights global & got paid decent, he also won both. They call him for the 3rd fight (the one in this vid) he agrees to an even larger contract than the first 2. He shows up in Russia few days before. The night before the fight he goes to dinner with a promoter & another associate like he had the 2 previous nights, 12 hours later he wakes up confused af, vomit everywhere, not knowing how he got back to his room, completely out of it with the fight in a few hours. He got drugged at dinner & said he was still feeling the effects during the fight. After the fight he talked to the promoter & all he said was "You don't finish fight, you don't get paid". Rumor has it the guy he was fighting was a huge underdog & heavy bets were placed by a particular group for him to win. That was his last fight with that organization.
That first one reminds me of when in 1982 ric flair went down to Puerto Rico to wrestle. He was wrestling Puerto Rico's biggest wrestling star at the time. Roc was supposed to win the match to retain the nwa world title, but during the match ric realised that if he did win he match, he wouldnt be leaving alive. So he changed the plans and dropped the title to the puerto Rican wrestler (sorry I dont know his name) and If I'm remembering correctly the Puerto Rican wrestler forfeited the belt back to ric because the nwa champion had to make appearances all over the world and didn't want to leave his home. Back when wrestling was still good.
Rohskof’s corner really let him down, they’re supposed to protect their fighter that’s rule number one I hope Max gets another fight because to have a debut on really short notice against a guy like Hubbard is asking for a lot
SquatsnDeads812 - He’s 31-0 in 3 different weight classes Championships in ONE and Bellator Mpforeverunlimited stands for Most Prominent Forever Unlimited Champion
Pantangco vs. Rasner was a moment I didn't understand when I saw some "sportsmanship" compilations. Now knowing the full context, massive respect for Pantangco stopping the fight to not hurt a friend/partner any further or preventing his opponent to cause himself further injuries and much respect to Rasner for standing up and enduring as much as he could during that time. Jumping in four hours after knowing you're signed to go into the octogon/ring means no conditioning, no preparation... This is more humble than absolute novices thinking they can take on professional athletes.
T hat one actually got me a tad emotional as I've allowed kids with Mental health problems get Ws over me in my middle school and HS wrestling days its not quite the same as what happened here but it has its similarities
That night when Ivey and Fulton fought was great. It was honorable what Ivey did that night. Both guys are MMA legends and I think Fulton would have done the same if he was in that position. #MuchRespect
@@patsysadowski1546 who's the legend here the kiddy porn guy or the fat tatted guy? Gimme a break, I knew a few kids who got in tons of fights r they legends also?
Yes, but you also need to make sure he knows the consequences. A quit is going to be regarded poorly. Losing with heart can help a career. Quitting nope. However, the fighter's health is more important, and the coach shown, his fighter seemed to be just outclassed.
Funny story, when I first started training back in 2004, my gym hosted a seminar held by Maurice Smith. He was demonstrating a move and pointed to me as his instructional dummy. It should be noted that at the time, I was about 140 lbs, all skin and bone. He proceeded to demonstrate the mount while hooking his feet under my legs, , putting all his weight onto my torso. He cracked three of my ribs and forced a fart out of me, just with his body weight.
Very true, a lot of creators do this, and we don’t give a shit. Show content not your face. Face only matters if we’re watching for the RU-vidr not the content
i dont understand why MMAOnPoint feels the need to shove their guys faces into every video when they were doing just fine without for hundreds of videos but whatever. Please stop.
I feel like an honorable mention should be given to Kalib Starnes vs Kalib Starnes. It's quite quitting in the traditional sense. However he spent almost the entire fight running away from Quarry and refusing to do anything other than run away
I went to high school and wrestled with Max Rohskopf. He was the team captain my junior year. Dude was such a dick. He was always belittling the rest of our teammates. He once chocked out a freshman during practice. This was wrestling practice in high school, there was no choke holds. I hope he has gone through some changes. Btw, you are pronouncing his name wrong
I cornered a young guy once. Physical specimen... first round opponent got an arm bar and Ibyelled "stack him" . He thought I said slam him and one arm, picked up his opponent and slammed him and got out. He EASILY won rd 1. Between rounds he wanted to quit and I told him no way. Rd 2 he had double undertook, clearly in charge. Looked up at the ref and said I QUIT... .... staggered out of the ring, fell and started puking everywhere.
