@@tspawn35 Because it wasnt just her coach, everybody in the media was selling this idea,Dana Hyped her like she was the best fighter in the entire sport and Rogan said she could even outbox male fighters. Her coach gets a lot of shit for creating this bollocks and he deserves it but lets not forget all the pundits that bought it and tried to sell it.
Her naive loyalty to her flawed and sub-par coach (Edmund) proved to be her fatal undoing. Compound that with her fragile ego and personality and you have a person who simply can not overcome defeat.
@@NuageRouge123 She believed in her coach, and the coach was the guy creating that hype. He was the one telling everyone she could be a top-level boxer, etc. The guy is a moron. Edmund favored standup fighting, and it wasn't good enough for him to have a champion in his gym. That champion had to be a great boxer, because he knew everyone would just say that she was already great (Olympic judo) when she came into his gym. He wanted people to believe it was his training that made her great. It wasn't.
Cheal dumb ass couldn't resist crotch sniffing Anderson Silva long enough to Win the last round and fight. Smh. He lost me after that one. It was idiotic.
I love Mark Kerr. I remember the night I watched "The Smashing Machine " for the first time. It was late night on HBO. It was crazy because Pride was ongoing and I never knew what went behind the scenes before that documentary.
Shane Carwin is a legend. He would always come into a small bar I used to work at near my house, usually with the company he worked for. Really really nice dude, he’s fucking huge lol. I still see him every now and then if I go up there for a visit.
Cat Zingano will be forever the favorite :) Loosing to RR did not broke her. What broke her was that the UFC never realy gave her a chance. Look at the shedules when her fights where booked. She was a half year out of fighting before this bout and she is no RR ... its hard to stay fit trough this times when you have a family to support. She lost the next 3 matches and won the 4th. Alphacat is the champiom of my Heart but the times are over now... Getting older doesnt help in this sport as Holm also recogniced :D
Shane carwin will forever be my favorite heavyweight fighter of all time the man was an absolute Kodiak bear of a human being it was scary how much power he had and to be honest I think if the fight were to be done again today and played out exactly how it played out back then with any other referee including the retarded Mario yamasaki then the fight would have been stopped somewhere in the first round because it should have been stopped in the first round Brock was turtled up not defending himself at all but it didn't end in the first like I should have he survived and Shane had nothing left in the tank
@@rustyshackleford7265 u really gonna be a grammar nazi? Bro it's a comment on RU-vid for fuck sake lol also I was using talk to text cause that is how little I care lol. And as much as I love the King of the Hill reference your rockin right now come on man
Carwin was an obvious PED user who had clearly stopped using them prior to his fight with JDS. As a result, he was noticeably smaller and far less intimidating. He likely realized he wasn't going to be very effective in the cage without them, and thus, decided to leave the sport...
Ya and also she said on Joe Rogan that after the Amanda win she was suffering from serious brain trauma and suffering memory issues for many years. Ever since that interview i flinch when i watch fighters take straight punches on the head!!
Dont get me wrong like any 2000's MMA fighter could probably beat the shit outta me (well aside from BJ) and you can never take away from Arlovski thats hes basically one of the greatest Slav fighter in history. Its just not fun to see a 40 yo man losing by KO only to win his last matches by decision.... you dont wanna become like Andersson Silva
Fun Fact: Paulo Filho mailed the belt after Chael beat him (since the promotion didn't sanction the title fight) and Chael still has the belt today hanging on his wall.
@@emilegriffith1473 Bro. Liddell carried the UFC on his back through all if those viscous fights with the pride guys. Young 'Reem, Rampage Jackson, eventually Wanderlei... Didn't Baba Sobral come from pride too? Can't remember but Chuck was my favorite fighter for my first 5 years of the sport
@@DreadYgKuma nope again. Maybe at lightheavy weight rampage was the biggest puncher but carwin was definitely a bigger puncher. He could knock people out with normal punches that he barely put any body weight behind. Plus unlike rampage literally every win of his was a first round ko
I agree .... loosing your husband in such a horrible way is going to take your focus away from any job especially if that job involves getting punched in the fucking face
Honourable mention: Renan Barao *Technically he DID lose his MMA debut... but that was in 2005, and he was only 18 years old at the time. He then went undefeated until 2014, racking up 32 straight wins and becoming one of the sports top P4P fighters. After he got dismantled twice by TJ, he was never the same. He's gone 2 wins - 8 losses since.
What happened afterwards? :) I know her husband passed away, but that was a year before the Rousey fight and she fought Nunes in the same year that he passed.
@@ThomMJMoore sorry you're right - leading up to the biggest fight of her career she had a lot of shit happen in her life. She was the best version of herself as an MMA fighter when she fought Meisha Tate, and then her life spiralled out of control. Husband/jiu-jitsu coach passed away, injury bug, being an only parent??? A bit unfair, in my opinion
Honestly i felt he should have won by stoppage... Brock was done wasn’t even fighting back nor defending himself... Shane went for the KO and got gassed.... Th ref should have called it
@@makavelimob1 carwin was slowing down and not completly taking control over brock.brock was back in his feet before bell rang and he attempted for a takedown. It was a wise decision by the ref not to stop the fight
Number 1 HAS to be Renan Barao: he was one of the truly greats of the sport until Sniper Dillashaw beat him. That is sad, considering how good he was...
She won me over after the Bus incident with McGregor. Where as “Thug” rose was traumatized and needed therapy and didn’t leave her house for weeks, Karolina shrugged it off and was like “ehh worse stuff happens in Poland” 🤣🤣
@@nicholasroberts7891 eh, he is not bad. I don't see him delivering a groundbreaking emotional performance, but he has decent range when he isn't basically playing himself. Pain and Gain is a good example. That's a legit good performance. And besides that he has really good comedic timing which is so underrated in general. Acting funny is arguably harder than acting sad.
Some of the old school guys were juiced up so much when they come off you can see the huge difference in their body composition . That’s when they started taking L’s
I feel like even th li ugh he went from the top down fast, he was already done before it happened anyway. He was aged out and partied way too hard. Watching that morning show recording and not knowing he was done would be insane.
Ronda, dana, joe rogan & millions of delusional McGregor..oops I meant Ronda gans actually thought she could actually beat Mayweather and half the UFC roster....mma fans are more delusional then the people who believe in more then 2 genders 😂🤣
@@chaboi7 mma fans are not delusional in that situation, just Dana White and Joe. they pump her head up just for her head to be kicked like a football😒
How can u distinguish when someone is deteriorating as an athlete, then gets their first loss (and by consequence more losses afterward due to deterioration) vs. someone's first loss causing them to deteriorate.
@@johnperez1008 the whole point of the video was people who didnt recover from there first ever loss. After baraos first loss he went on a giant winning streak and got a ufc title
He didn't say Max looked worse. He literally showed Max while saying "a loss can make you as you double down on your efforts to improve". Comprehension buddy.
Mark Kerr's girlfriend was also a psycho chick which, by him staying with her, also helped him further derail his career. He was his own worst enemy though. Good fighter but weak character so he self destructed.
Greg Larsen in all fairness the women’s division was in its beginning phase. And Tate is no scrub! Those women are skilled! They wouldn’t put untrained women in a cage
@@williamfuller3346 bj penn lost so many times I don’t think it’s fair to say he was never the same after his first loss. Hendricks had a loss early in his career. He was never the same after loss 2 which was gsp Fedor belongs on this list. Clearly rousey and barao also
I'm surprised Renan Barao wasnt on this list he was the p4p best at one point and dominated the bantamweight division for a long time but never could never get back to that status after loosing the belt to tj dillashaw
Not undefeated, but Renan Barao comes to mind. He was on a 32 fight win streak before losing to Dillashaw, and he went on to lose 7 of his next 9 fights before being released by the UFC. Sad way to end an amazing career
Mike Tyson summarised this phenomena in his book "Undisputed Truth". He said that Cus always taught him that fighting was something he did, not who he was. Which was why Tyson said; that even though he was disappointed to lose the heavyweight championship, he wasn't crushed, and that he knew he would never come back after retirement. Fighters who are never the same after a loss, are the ones who peg their whole identity to fighting and being the best, therefore once they lose a fight, they lose their identity.
Um, maybe because after his first loss to Lyoto he went on a 4 fight win streak beating Thiago Silva, Rampage Jackson, Tito Ortiz and Phil Davis which earned him a LHW title shot against Jon Jones? Pretty sure that's a GOOD recovery of your career after your first loss.
Love how in all their vids they try plugging the guy who makes the music by trying to make it sound like it's not just a few forgettable strings which opens up all of their vids. Every time I hear them plug it as if dude's the second coming of Jimmy Page I always have to rewind to the beginning cuz I can never remember what it even sounded like... And I'm disappointed every time. I'm convinced you guys are trolling at this point. Maybe switch it up if you wanna get the guy over? - that said, still a huge fan of the channel
To be fair Andrade has no business fighting in straw-weight and is yet more proof the UFC division system is fucking broken. When someone her size can get in the same ring as Karolina or Rose, that’s a fucked up system. If she can fight at 115 pounds then so can I.
I think its a little unfair that you didnt mention the Cat Ziganos husband commited suicide leading up to her title fight and it clearly affected her ability to fight after that.
