i have 2 tips for heating up leftovers, maybe people already know them but anyways if you want to heat up leftover pasta, boil some water and throw the pasta in for just a few seconds before taking it out again. the pasta will be as if it were just cooked if you want to heat up rice, put a little bit of water on it before placing it in the microwave and it won't turn out dry
@VanitysGunn
@VanitysGunn 5 лет назад
Tilda J. Even rice that has dried out can be brought back to life! I love my instant pot but it tends to dry out my rice if left inside. Put a few table spoons in the bottom of your bowl & stir your rice in so it's all wet. Cover loosely & microwave for about 2 minutes. If it's still a bit dry repeat. Works every time!

Ignore "sell by" and "best before" dates. "Use by" are a bit more important but still, foods don't carry a personal agenda with it and at the strike of midnight turn bad. Use common sense, if it looks or smells iffy dont use it, if it looks and smells fine prepare it properly and enjoy.
@shadows4419

If you want to go a step further with your lemon, you just throw an entire lemon into the blender, skin and all. Cut into manageable pieces for your blender and just blend it up (add a drop of water if needed). Then the same as you did in the video, freeze in an ice cube tray. You can also do this with kiwis (skin and all). It's great to flavour your water or smoothies. Also, for the stock scraps, you can include herb stalks, apple cores and skins, wilted salad leaves (the ones on the outside that always look unappetising), carrot tops, radish and beetroot leaves, garlic skins.

With dried out bread you can make croutons to top on salads and soups. Cut bread into cubes, fry with olive oil and spices (like whole cumin, rosemary) on low heat. Can also roast with seeds and nuts. Lately I have been using sunflower seeds with my homemade croutons- also good coupling with wilted salad to get crunch back!

I use lemon juice when making homemade strawberry jam. I cut the lemon in half and squeeze out the juice required for the recipe. When I'm done with the lemon I place it in a bowl with a small amount of water. I then place it in the microwave for 5 minutes on high. I take a damp cloth and wipe the microwave clean. Works like a charm. Then dump the lemon in liquid into the garbage disposal and grind it up to clean and deodorize.

I buy organic ginger and freeze the whole thing in the freezer skin and all. Then when I need ginger, I take a micro plain and grade it into my soups, etc. You can also freeze celery and put it into cooked dishes. I have a favorite place to hang herbs to let them dry too. Thanks for your video.....
