Ryan Poehling delivered one of the most impressive NHL debuts in Canadiens history .The 20-year-old notched a hat trick and then added the shootout winner to lead the Canadiens to a 6-5 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs
11/1/1985. Buffalo Sabres Daren Puppa shutsout the Edmonton Oilers in his NHL debut. Being that Edmonton AVERAGED over 5 goals a game that season, I am not really sure how Puppa didn't make the list...?
As a sens fan I like Matthews, even funnier is that Andy asked him to autograph his goalie stick and he wrote "Thanks FOUR making my first game memorable" lol
it´s hertl, but youre fckin right. that was a debut like no one had ever seen. did you see how fast he made that move between his legs to score? gosh...
I wonder if some people realize not everyone wants to play in the NHL and would rather be in the the AHL. Not everyone has the tangibles to be an NHL player and they know it.
After getting Oly gold in 1980, Dave Christian scored 7 seconds into his first shift with the Jets. (NHL Record) Not a bad debut. Hanuu Jarvempa scored 4 in his first game as a Jet in 1986. Problem was it was the first ex game lol downhill NHL career after that.
Gretzky...mario.....crosby...bobby orr ...and their was 1 other player....all 5 combined did not record 4 goals 1st NHL game as mathews did it ottawa but their was defantly some luck and sens were not very strong at the time...no nhl player scored 60 goals in leafs history before mathews...he scored more goals (not points) this year then mcDavid(120) was sad to see them get eliminated last night, but i loved watch the david show afterwords trashed the king....it was a 1 team game...mcdavid and oilers were like 2 teams comming at the kings .. Mcdavid knew gretz was watching :)
