People have been obsessed over Nintendo games for decades. Whether it was Zelda, Mario, or Pokemon, people love to hear stories, rumors, and anticipate the next big game release. Through the years, a number of those stories have ended up being lies or things that just were not true. For example, people have been waiting a long time to see the Legend of Zelda get adapted into a live-action movie or TV series. News broke of a Netflix series release, but that quickly proved to be false as Nintendo decided to focus on classic gaming instead. Super Mario 3 was a hugely anticipated game for players, but many became frustrated when they couldn’t access a level that featured on the gaming box!
Everyone loves the rosters available in the Super Smash Bros. games, but release of Melee showcased a couple of open slots that players assumed were for hidden characters like Toad or Sonic the Hedgehog. Along with the release of the Nintendo 64, many players expected to get the add-on console known as the 64DD. People spent hours playing Super Mario 64, not just to beat the game, but to try and unlock Luigi. Something that never happened. Super Smash Bros. DLC was announced multiple times, but players didn’t actually get the characters that they intended. For months, hype surrounding The Legend of Zelda: Twilght Princess showcased a magic meter that never ended up appearing in the game. Other lies include Mew hidden under a truck in Pokemon, an unreleased Mario game that was showcased, and a secret chocolate level in the original Super Mario Bros.

Rayman, Young Link, Shovel Knight, Dixie Kong, and especially Ridley were never announced officially or otherwise as dlc for smash 4. Rayman was a prank everything else likely came from the character poll. Also Nintendo advertised that those who get both 3ds and Wiiu versions of smash 4 they get Mewtwo for free

Moosemarsh as someone who didn't pay for Mewtwo, it was a real thing. Everyone who bought the two games also got Mewtwo before the paid DLC was announced (had a friend surprised that I had the character so early)

There is also speculation that you can acquire purple yoshi in Yoshi's Story. I think you had to collect all coins in every level or eat only melons. I don't know if it was debunked or not, but that was a story I remember as a kid

Luigi is a part of Mario 64's code but he got removed due to hardware limitations. Later he was planned to appear in Super Mario 64 2 for the N64DD but it got scrapped.

Dennis Fluttershy it was because of limitations. Mario party has very simple terrain. Mario 64 has very complex terrain. The complex terrain in SM64 is the reason why Luigi isn't in the game. Removing the complex terrain would make the game boring as levels like fall fall off every 5 seconds mou- I mean tall tall mountain would most likely not exist. Now there is a mod for Co-op but last time I checked that is for computers and not the N64

Not true. Kaze found that there were 2ed controller input on SM64. So a Rom hack called SMM64. And I've tested the Rom hack on real hardware and it works fine. But it's not split screen. That's were the limitations mite happen. But with 64DD would of worked with split screen.

You forgot rumors about finding the Triforce in Ocarina of Time. There was a Colombian gamer named Ariana Almandoz who used screenshots and vague hints to troll the Zelda fans into a wild goose chase. My 12-year-old mind at the time knew it was fake but I wanted there to be some hidden code revealing a Triforce that one could access via GameShark/Action Replay codes. I do remember some development footage where Link obtained the Triforce, suggesting that Nintendo had considered putting it in the game but nixed it later in development.

Yes.. a "magic flute" ... Him and his "never-ending quest to save his girlfriend".. Played a lot of that flute Link did.. Not a lot of saving the princess though. He was also a bit obsessed with another thing. His special move he called the "reach around". ( If you guys still somehow do not get this one.. Watch a animation called Drawn Together XD )

Any one else heard about the sky temple in ocarina of time? You were supposed to be able to get all the pieces of the triforce there and for a long time I tought it was true since I once rented a hacked cartridge and the three piece of the triforce were glowing in the item menu. There were reedead and skeleton at night as well while playing adult link, I wish I bought that cartridge back then...

When I was 4 years old playing Donkey Kong Country my brother liex to me that the small picture of a boat with a moving fish on it that was on the top left of the screen inside DK's tree house contained a secret level which could be accessed by bouncing off the tire and ianding into it just right. I fell for it and spent my video game time hour for about a month trying to get into play the so called hidden level.

The reason why Super Mario 128 never came out I'd because they scraped it after a while because it gave them an idea for a newer game with a similar function, they titled it "Pikmin". And in tribute to Super Mario 128 the main characters name is Olimar, in Japanese, it translated to Oiram, which is Mario backwords

To get Bowser in the original smash bros you choose Bowser as your character in Mario kart 64 then in the first moment the race starts you press pause and you have about half a second to switch cartridges from kart to smash and if done correctly Bowser will appear as a character in your fighting roster.

In the Pokemon games Red, Blue, and Yellow.. Finding the Mew character was only available via a special download or by special cheat code. There is no other way of finding the elusive Pokemon in the game. Most of the gamers who found Mew either did so by special download or by cheat code. As I seem to recall, at the time of the release of these games, there was a special event that Pokemon gamers could attend where they could get the special download via transfer from Nintendo. But that was really the only way to find the special Pokemon. Despite what some gamers will tell you that Mew is discoverable in the game itself.. This is a lie.

I hunted for Luigi in Super Mario 64 FOR YEARS as a child. That had to have been the biggest lie. I didn't even read about it online, or hear about it from friends. I tried to read the sign, and guessed that was what it meant.

well about the luigi rumors there true because there is official models of him in the game and using a toads tool easter egg you can switch mario's model with luigi's on a rom file plus there is animation for luigi because he was a mario model with stretched parts and disparted joints

It really was possible to jump over the flag pole in Super-Mario Bros. I did it 1ce and only 1ce. You end up w/an unending castle wall, and die by running out of time. No matter how hard I tried, I never did it again. Can't figure out how I did it that 1 time.

Next to the truck in pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow I think the biggest hoax was getting Pikablue (what we called Maril at the time). I did so many goofy things in the game because I believed that that Pokemon was actually in the game :P.

I love how Mew used to be such a big thing. In 2013, I was playing on my DS (Or was it 2014..? I'unno. It was not long after Pokemon Pearl had come out. ). I had a level 43 pokemon and this kid walks up to me that looks about my age and goes " Whoa, cool Machamp! Wow... geez... I can never bring myself to level a fighting type past the twenty to forty curve. Trade you a Mew for it? " I immediately am like " ... You know how rare Mew is, right!? " He's like " Yeah? So? I have Mew and Mewtwo. You can have my Mew if you promise to put him in your lineup and train him like you did your Machamp. I want it to go some place it'll get used instead of sit in my PC. " So the kid just gives me a Mew... for a lousy Machamp. Making my mains Empereon, Palkia, Mew and Lucario.
