I more surprised he didn't put The Rock v X Pac a match that happened twice once on RAW shortly after Survivor Series 1998 and the other at UK only pay per view Capital Carnage 2 weeks later .

Spike had so much respect that even Stone Cold had no problem wrestling him and letting him get in some offense in a time when characters like that didn’t get nothing from the top guy because it might “hurt their career”. And Austin is the top guy to end all other top guys lol.

The only reason Gillberg was "unlikely" was because all champions except HHH ducked him. And H ducked him for most of his career, but was forced to face him. Thank god for Shane, the only person with the balls to book that dream match.

I feel you missed a trick here by not including Skinner. Classic early 90's midcard heel getting a random title shot against Randy Savage despite no actual evidence of being qualified for such a shot. Although, considering the Billy Gunn match with HBK you did mention, there are probably dozens of such foregone conclusion matches in the archives.

How about pay per view worthy matches given away on TV like a career ending match between Ric Flair and Mr Perfect ? Just imagine that was at the Royal Rumble 1993 and either one lost the career ending match but won the Rumble later in the evening ? What a dilemma ? What drama ? Honestly for me Bret Hart had the best title reign/s. True champion, fought all comers, had good matches with all of them. CM Punk was similar in terms of matches but he didn’t put the belt on the line as much.
