Happy Easter Weekend! I'm Jturn and this is my silly gaming deep dives channel. Today we're going to take a walk through the world of queer video game easter eggs. They've got a long (tumultuous) history!
Like I mention in the video, this list definitely skews gay. If you've got a favourite non-gay easter egg, please feel free to share below because I'd love to put them into a future video!

"Male.. female… what's the difference?" as a bi man, I can really relate to that one. And I totally get the feeling on the Bioshock one. Seeing the LGBTQ+ represented as regular people, just being there together and not for any particular reason other than just existing as human beings in love is very effective, because, really, that's what we want to see.

Hahaha do you also crave power like Flea?? 😂 And yeah I love just seeing the small, ordinary representation. It REALLY hits different, and it has become much more common in recent years, especially as games get bigger and have more and more NPCs in them.

i really understand that feeling of being seen. more recently, i played the amazing game hades and i immediately noticed that all the characters referred to chaos with they/them pronouns and i was very touched because as a non-binary person i’ve seen 1 maybe 2 examples of representation in media so every piece of stuff like this really make me feel seen.

I LOVED Hades, and I HAD to include Chaos' they/them pronouns in my Queer Hades video because just like you I feel like I haven't seen that representation anywhere and it made my heart warm that they included it. Now it goes double to hear that a non-binary person really felt represented by it. Hades is SO GOOD!!!

It's so small and cute right?? The fact it was in there 8 years ago too, damn. Time just soars by doesn't it? I'm glad we're getting more proper representation that doesn't have to hide in Easter Eggs but it feels like the fact that in Last Of Us 2 queer characters can find queer easter eggs was just so fuckin NICE!

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, is a cute game that is based on a young girl who wants to make social change. So she gets to work on stopping developers turning her island into a massive tourist area with hotels, among recording local wildlife species and helping them out. Like unbeaching a dolphin etc. But at one point, you can look up among the apartments and see various Progressive Pride Flags. It was a stunning touch. The game also contributes to planting trees with proceeds from sales. I'm a fan.

It's a really fantastic project! I learned of it through a Netflix Documentary about video games and was reminded of it when I was researching this video. Many hours this week were spent reading pages of that site while I should have been working on this 😂

🥤🥤🥤 cheers! Whether you want to consider it a "queer" easter egg or not, my personal favorite is Super Mario RPG's. It's played as a light hearted joke, but at a certain portion of the game, a quick time event occurs where Mario can kiss Princess Peach, but if he misses he ends up kissing Bowser instead 😂

Ahh, there was a gay in the Digimon story: Cyber Sleuth. He received a bunch of pics of flowers so he ordered a sleuth to see into it, it turned out it was Lillymon taking selfies, so reporting back he said he didnt mind cause he is into boys only.

Flea might also be a trans man! I'm two years late, but that seems like the most likely, given he self identifies as a man (from the google search I did), and I'm also a trans guy with tig ole bitties still, so its very much possible
