Solar panels generate even more power on high sun planets like Calidor. You can often find intact solar panels on Calidor. Wind turbines don't generate more power at any given time, but the do so more often on high wind planets. There also medium and small horns that you can only find, not build. You can research small gas canisters.
With QT-RTG and regular RTG, I await larger RTGs. As for power wirh turbine: spread them out, and not just along your base. I've been using the rails as connections along the surface as a combination tether, cable, and small platform with two slots. Use one turbine and one solar along the path, optimally. Or cheaper, all small turbine along the path. You can have a train of soil centrifuge and smelter and make clay/ceramic all day adding turbines. Thr only stuff you need to mine is aluminum and resin once the train is built. Then as the wind move all over the planet, your turbines pick up from wherever and all connected, delivers a stream into batteries. Sometimes I don't both with lithium if I find enough zinc for a small battery collection. Sure, not efficient use of resources, but the challenge of more power early game is fun. Especially when you use zinc for the proximity and delay repeaters from the research point plants.
A larger RTG would be pretty epic, indeed, but the normal one is nanocarbon alloy already, so they might need to add something more expensive in order to have a crafting recipe for one.
3:28 I also found it accidently but since you can't interact with anything that requires your cursor (which is like, everything) then its not of much use. Maybe if you are making a theater trail and you want to teleport to your base faster? (but then ig you could just respawn?)
Tip: rails are much better than vheicles early game, as they are faster, you can build them like tethers, and there is extremely liw risk of losing stuff due to falling in holes far away
Glowsitcks actually helped me to discover some caves because I don't need power and oxygen to see them AND you can actually use them in a buggy with your context keys. Next time you will try to examine new cave layer, put 50 of them in one slot of your buggy and don't worry if you lost in cave.
Alright... I'll admit it I hadn't expected such a succinct take after that in depth analysis and contrast of wind turbines so... I paused to write this comment because... I was mid-drink when #4 came through at 3:25 and may or may not have needed to clean-up after myself. 😅
5:45 used it once its so annoying to 1. dig it out 2. align it the right way 3. connect it to the system... sigh haven't played the game in like a year.
You can actually get QUADRUPLE the bytes from Glacio research samples by taking them out just before they finish scanning and then researching them manually.
Trying to min/max in Astroneer seems to be completely against the spirit of the game, but of course people can play it however they want (which is kind of the idea).
@@worldclassjerk-epicgamer hey I have a problem and I looked everywhere else and I can’t find it so I am asking you for the new mission “help” I can’t get it I have completed all together now but “help” isn’t showing on my log it might be that I haven’t completed all of the missions but on the wiki it said that I just have to do the final entry mission
I have a skybase near the second sky limit. If you go to the second limit your carecter just floats and you can't move. But all the items start to float before the player starts to float whoch is cool. Which is pretty coal when building a base everything just floats. But bevare you can accidentally knock items far into space because they just keep their momentum at least for while. And also the second sky limit is above where the rockets fly in orbit so it looks stupid when in flight.
I haven't dealt much with far outer space. The most I've done is drive a rover into space using thrusters so as to try to land on another planet. I failed and had to restart at the main planet, but it's still out there somewhere.
@@worldclassjerk-epicgamer yeah I've seen videos of people trying that but it's actually impossible because the other planets aren't loaded when you're not on them.
@@viktoranderas9541 That's a big fat oof. I'm pretty sure I heard that you can relog, though, and the nearest one is the one that renders. Might be wrong, though.
24 Small Wind Turbines on a Medium Silo cranks out a metric tonne of power on a very small footprint for little or no cost. SWTs can be gathered for free from wreckage and when the Silo is placed on top of a Tall Platform it even looks good - light and power in one small bundle
"Yee Haw. That's all. That's my description. You'll have to figure the rest out." Let me guess, You're exploring the planet Calidor in the mantle layer trying to mine some Wolframite for those Medium Generators in a wild way!
i think the extra cost of the large/XL wind turbines/solar panels is negligible compared to the overall output, tho i think with the right amount of investment they could be equal.
It's certainly not hard to get them in the late game. My main was just that you can get the same output using only smalls in the first 15 minutes of the game which is much more efficient cost-wise.
This also happened to me over a year ago, lol. I made a whole tutorial then someone in the comments had to inform me that I missed the best part. It was a shame. That's how I learned it, though.
