While I have worn a aftershave since I started using Old Spice in the 1950s, I have survived four wives since then and the only gift that I remember ever having received regularly for Christmas was a bottle of Aramis. @@ah5721 During the first lockdown you were encouraged to walk in the street for daily exercise but not to gather in parks or at the beach. You were only allowed to leave the house for food shopping, or to travel to work. When that was lifted some people, mainly in the outer north west Suburban area of Melbourne effectively ignored the advice that the State Premier gave daily during a Television update. The other States of Australia were coping, but the problem in Victoria resulted in all the other States banning the entry of anyone who had been in Victoria, but because this was being ignored State borders were closed. Now the problem has become so bad in Melbourne it is considered likely that travel out of Melbourne to regional Victoria will be totally banned and the Premier is now using the members of the Australian Army to call on the residence of people who have failed the COVID 19 tests and who are legally required to self isolate for 14 days. But tens of thousands of them were refusing to answer telephone calls and half of the people who were given COVID 19 tests went straight to work instead of staying at home for the 2-3 wait for results. When they refused to give personal information, when requested, the other States started to put pressure on the Victorian Government, then the Prime Minister became involved and permitted the Army to directly assist. A lot of the problem in Melbourne is caused by Social attitudes, which would be very politically incorrect to state in writing. But the map of the prime affected areas is very telling. I don't know the current population figures, but in the 1970-80s period the giant computer company IBM used Australia for the testing of proposed computer networking and the release of new versions of mainframe computer operating system. That's because at that time there were only five cities in the USA that were larger than Melbourne or Sydney and the Telecommunications network in Australia is covering the same geographic area as Europe or continental United States. Now the people in Victoria, which has always been the port of entry into Australia and the heart of manufacturing may be thrown into financial turmoil, because some ignorant people didn't want to listen to any advice that wasn't originated by the Social Media gurus. It's hard for elderly people like me to understand this modern attitude when the pioneering grandparents of people like me, who were the first non-aboriginal residents came from all over the world, seeking a new life and achieved that by helping one another. @@ah5721 As an afterthought to my very long response to your straightforward question, I stated that like many Australian people of my age, that our grandparents were the first non-aboriginal settlers. Which touched on another major topic of the social media agitators carrying on about stolen land and social rights. Just for the record I would like to state that numerous people who claim aboriginal heritage, the oldest continuous heritage on earth, have names, like mine that come from Irish migrant grandparents. You only have to look at my face to tell. While I have pale Celtic skin and blonde Germanic hair, I have lived in beachside suburbs most of my life and with a typical Aussie tan, I look like I am from Tennants Creek, where my Father's young brother was the Parish Priest and also was responsible for the Mission, an other target for attack by people on social media who have never been there. While my aboriginal bloodline, is obvious and we'll accepted by my next door neighbour in South Melbourne, who is pure blood Australian Aboriginal descent, as are many who still live on the ancient tribal land, that is now the CBD of the City of South Melbourne. Many major Companies now publicly recognise that we now share the use of land in the Bayside City that has been inhabited for the last 40,000 years --- by my ancestors too. Phil.

@Omar Hassan. I support your suggestion. As I always wear a shirt and tie, often in industrial environments, I often unbutton the cuff and just fold it back one turn, because it won't be long before I put my coat back on. But 60 years ago, when I started working in a Bank, and had to physically count every note and coin, while not being permitted to remove my suit coat, while in public view, it was common practice to wear armbands, just like in the 1950s Western movies. That practice allowed you to pull your sleeve up, to protect it from being soiled by the often filthy notes and coins. I recently decided to renew that ancient practice, but I could not find any for sale, in any Menswear Store. Perhaps our OG could cover that in a video on keeping both plain and French cuffs presentable and fashionable, at the same time. Phil.

@Jermaine Winston. While you are seeking advice from the OG, that is a very simple question to answer. Like many older viewers, I consider that I already know how to dress well, which is not the same as dressing appropriately. Having in the past held the most senior Sales/Marketing positions in the World largest Computer and Telecommunications Industry Companies, being appropriately attired was not always the same as being well dressed, by either Social or Corporate standards. My suggestion is to follow a guideline from the Christian New Testament, where some where in those well read texts an Apostle on a mission was instructed ---- "When in Roman, do as the Romans do". In other words, dress to "Mirror" your peers at Work, at Church and in the local Shopping Mall. That's the advice that the "Fashion Police" will give you, because it's good sensible and practical advice. But it's not what I would do, because since the time my Mother made me iron my school uniform, every night, from the age of 12 and to wash and darn my own socks, I became used to being the "Best dressed man in the room", which later got me promotions to the highest level in the World in the current Computer and Telecommunications Industry. So --- You can either dress to please others --- Or dress to please your self. But as I have survived four marriages, I can't suggest that everyone would agree with my unsolicited comments. But, Fortune favours not only the brave, but those who dress for the role. So decide ---- Flipping a coin may help, but it's a lifetime, not a lifestyle decision.
