10 Things You Didn't Know About Encino Man 

A lot of people are angry because I pronounced Brendan Frasers' name incorrectly. This has happened before when I made a video about The Mummy, for some reason, I don't know why, but my brain, such as it is, just cant compute how to say his name, I actually tried really hard this time and still couldn't get it right, I know it sounds crazy and does make sense but for some dumb reason I just cant say it correctly. Maybe it's time for me to retire?? Do I have the right to make these videos if Im just annoying everyone?? Either way, as to not cause any more anger or offence, I won't be talking about any more Brendan Fraser movies in the future!

I love that Brendan Fraser and Ke Huy Quan share a scene together, and they both ended up winning an Oscar in the same year. Talk about comeback Kings!

The Cave Woman at the end was played by Sandra Hess, who also played Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat Annihilation.

Encino Man is extremely nostalgic for me. I saw it alot as a kid. It's such a time capsule of the early 90s. Plus, it's a "fish outta water" movie, which are always fun. Even when they're dumb.

Interesting fact: Brendan Frasier would reunite with Erick Avari (Raj--the convenience store clerk) in "The Mummy (1999).

My whole family loved this movie, that includes immediate, aunts, uncles, cousins even the grandparents. Mostly clean humor, upbeat, lots of fun and we could all quote the entire movie from start to finish. Time to watch it with my little ones now.

I fulfilled my lifelong dream over 20 years in the making of meeting Polly shore last year after one of his comedy shows. I noticed he didn’t wanna shake hands with anybody who did the meet and greet, but was willing to fist bump. So when I approached him, I didn’t put my hand out, but instead told him that this was the first film ever I saw of his when I was a kid and I’ve been dreaming about this moment for over 20 years to finally meet him and he smiled and stuck his hand out and said “WEEEAAAASSSAAALLLL” and I did the weasel with Pauly shore. I could’ve died right there and my life would’ve been complete.

It was called California man in the UK because we had no idea where Encino was

For me, I’m very glad you decided to put together an episode about Encino Man, Minty. As I was entering into my teenage years in 1993, it was one of three films Sean Astin appeared in that eloquently demonstrated that he was coming of age after the Goonies. You mentioned one of the others, Toy Soldiers; the other was Rudy. If memory serves, it was brought to my attention in almost exact tandem with School Ties, and so my image of Brendan Fraser was a combination of both films.

"Caveman" was a movie with Ringo Starr.

One crazy summer PLEASE, minty! This episode was gold. My daughter is basically nonverbal so honestly she reminds me of Link in some aspects. She totally wheezes the juice!

Thank you for this, Minty! This is one of my all time favorite movies growing up. I was about 8 or 9 and I remember my older cousin taking me to see it in theaters and it is one of my greatest memories as a kid. I absolutely love this film and have to watch it every time in plays on TV (i watch a lot of pluto streaming tv and it was just on bout 2 weeks ago). I'm one of those weird people who love Pauly Shore and wish audiences wouldnt have dumped him so fast. And I think Bredan Fraser is an ok actor but he was incredible in Encino Man- such a believable performance- truly brought that character to life.

I grew up in the midwestern United States & even I had no clue what the "Encino" in Encino Man meant until I watched the movie.

I’ll have to go back and look but I can almost guarantee that I requested “Encino Man” years ago when I found your channel.

Some of the filming locations of Encino Man were shot in other San Fernando Valley locations for instance, the high school scenes were shot at the Los Angeles Mission College in Sylmar CA. North east of the San Fernando Valley. How I know this is because I started attending community college there in 1997. At some point I watched Encino Man again and saw the the interior and exterior of the High school scenes and thought to myself WHOA that place looks familiar. Since watching it after, every time I went to my classes there at the college, I look at some of those filming spots and it just blows me away in AWWW & amazement. I enjoy your videos. keep up the good work.

You know, some videos, it seems Minty isn't feeling his best or most confident and you can kind of hear it in his voice, other times he can be very charismatic, whimsical, and charmingly funny. I remember when this came out in theaters. My brother and I were so excited to see it.

You're on the right track with the name of the movie. I don't think it's a play on "caveman" but more of a nod to "Cheddar Man" and other "missing link" bones found. They would often name the bones after the place they were found.

My high school baseball coach wasn't aware of my existence until I was a senior. He was convinced I had been packed in ice, and called me "Encino Man" the whole next year.
