This was my fave back in the day, something about Linda Blair in contacts does something to you, she transforms into another person, she's a trooper to perform in a spoof of her own movie.
The disclaimer bit at the very start is hilarious! 😂 I remember finding Repossessed at a local video rental store back in the day. My best friend and I are fans of spoof movies, especially if Leslie Nielsen is in them, so we rented it. We thought it was comedy genius! Linda Blair gave a brilliant performance!
I met Linda Blair a few years back. She is a friend of someone I know. She is a really nice person, involved in many charities etc. Still to this day though the Exorcist is the scariest movie I have ever ever looked at. Never even got through the whole thing.
I like when Exorcist Style music was playing in the background but it was the priest with a tape recorder which he turns off when he steps into the room.
I saw the Exorcist a year or so before this and the Exorcist scared the heck out of me, so this was great therapy for me. I love this movie so much and laughed really hard.. great love for Leslie and Linda and thank you for the video❤
1 other fact... There is a disclaimer at the start of the movie saying this movie is no way connected in any way to The Exorcist. But, the fact Linda Blair is in both, there's a connection straight away. I own this on DVD, I love it.
Me and a friend got stoned and went to see The Exorcist, we were the only two in the theater laughing our butts off, the green pea vomit scene had us rolling. As for repossessed, I found it in a used video store about 10 or so years ago. I love anything with Leslie Nielsen in it, yeah it was a bit cheesy but it's great fun.
As an actor, I can relate with Linda on that cockroach scene. In one zombie movie, I had a scene where I had meal worms in my mouth. And wouldn't you know it, it got cut. In the theater, at the screening, I was so disappointed.
I feel like I'm one of only a few that actually got that Bob Ross reference. He used to say "beat the devil out of it" when cleaning his brushes for everyone else.
Surprisingly, I first saw Repossessed before I actually heard of or even saw The Exorcist. I had no idea that Repossessed was parodying what many people consider the scariest movie of all time.
I remember when I saw repossessed on tv as a kid and it always made an impression on me. I nearly forgot about it until a few years ago when I rediscovered it like oh yeah that’s the movie! I definitely think this movie deserves a cult following. It’s another one of Nielsen’s gems that deserves a lot more recognition.
It's not NEARLY as good as the movies it wants to be (Airplane/Naked Gun/even Hot Shots), but it has some funny bits and is far better than the likes of Disaster Movie, Date Movie, etc. 🤷♂👍👍👍
i loved this movie. it use to be on cinemax all the time back around 20 years ago. i use to love it when leslie neilson's priest character's heart monitor would beep around hot women & he would try to hide it. i also like the lines "father mayii" & leslie would respond with "yes you may"
I absolutely love this movie! A funny thing is, just before I watched this video, I watched an episode of Creepshow S2E1 called Public Television Of The Dead. It's basically Bob Ross vs. Evil Dead.😂😂😂
I love this movie just because it's like you said " cheesy funny". Also, a mention that Robert Fuller was in it too as Dr Hacket, a spoof in itself which he played Dr Bracket in tv sitcom "Emergency" in the 1970's.
I remember when Comedy Central used to run this all the time, I loved this movie, and yes, I had forgotten it. It may be sitting in my Amazon cart for when I get paid next Friday
This is one of the best videos you've done!!! You had me laughing all the way through!! Very well written! I saw this movie when it was released to cable. I absolutely loved it. I'm a big fan of spoof movies and the writers spoofed a LOT of what was popular in the 80s. I'm going to have to watch it again. Thanks again for the great video!! I really enjoyed it! I really like all of your videos. Thanks!
I missed this movie like a lot of those that came out when I was in the Gulf War and just never knew it was a a thing, I'm now planning on buying and watching the Exorcist movies and this one to round them off, thanks Minty!
"Young lady, would you please pull down your dress?" is the first and often only scene that comes to mind when thinking of this movie. Still, plenty of good one-liners to be had.
Minty, just an FYI- Patrick Mahomes said “I’m going to Disneyland” earlier this year after the super bowl. This tradition started in 1987 and is still going on to this day. 👍🏻
I don't wanna be repossessed!!! I love & own this movie!!! I don't remember the ads for it, though. I only found out about it, when i was researching old horror flicks, from the '80s & '90s, some years back. That being said, this is criminally underrated, in my opinion!! Certainly far far better than any of the more recent "parody" flicks, that were trying too hard to be funny!!
My wife had never seen The Exorcist, so we had gone to go see the theatrical release of "The Version You've Never Seen". Because she'd gotten really troubled by the movie, I went out and rented Repossessed after that to lighten the mood.
A girl I was taking out for the first time (now wife) came over to my house and saw a VHS copy of this movie on my shelf with all my DVDs and could not believe someone other than her had seen this movie. 20 years later we still joke about Repossessed bringing us together
@mspears_bobobuddytheseniorcat That's because most B movies like this are swept under the rug so to speak not long after they are released and are barly talked about or shown on tv and are forgotten. Amazon Woman Of the Moon was released in 1987 which also has allot of dark humor and classic satire and has an all star cast including a young David Alan Grier, Kelly Preston, Arsenio Hall, Michelle Pfeiffer, Rosana Arquette and Carrie Fisher to name a few. Yet it hasn't been shown on tv in many years!🤗🤔🎬🎥
Loved this, watched it a lot as a kid, recently showed it to a friend who had never seen it. The Silence of the Hams is also pretty good, one that not a lot of people know about these days.
I'm kinda surprised (but also happy, a new 10 things vid is an instant watch) you didn't wait for October for this one lol. 3:45 opposite for me... Wait there was a meatballs 4!? I saw what I thought was all 3, now I gotta hunt down the 4th
I really like this movie. When it 1st came out it only had limited release & I never heard of it. It wasn't until years later that I heard of it from a friend. I got to see it shortly thereafter & enjoyed it. Yes, some things are a little dated, like the Jim & Tammy Faye spoof as well as the nuns as the dancers in Robert Palmer's video, but it is still funny. Speaking of spoofs, another favorite of mine from 1994 is The Silence of the Hams (Italian: Il Silenzio dei Prosciutti). It starred Dom DeLuise as Dr. Animal Cannibal Pizza. Unfortunately, it isn't available in the US on DVD.
One I want to get hold of is BULLSHOT... A Parody of the old Written Stories of the Adventures of "Bulldog" Drummond ... Its brilliant in it's simplicity with "Bullshot" Crummond being a totally Inept but somehow successful World War One Officer... I don't think it was a big hit as it was a very British Comedy...
Yes this is Definitely a good spoof movie. Who'd Ever think that they would spoof a big time Horror movie!! Also has some good music in the film!! Leslie Nielsen will Be Missed!! Great job Mr. Minty!! 👏
This is a whole lot better than “ Dracula : dead and loving it “ . Plus I’ve always had a thing for Linda Blair . She was super hot in The Exorcist 2 , and that roller disco movie she did .
Commercials are still run, mainly with Super Bowl winners having them say that they’re either going to Disneyland or Walt Disney World. That’s still a pop culture thing.
I absolutely ADORE this movie!!! I used to rent it and now I OWN IT! Its on the reverse side of the vampire comedy you showed called 'My best Friend is a Vampire'. I used to rent that too. Minty, do that movie soon. The teens parents thought he was Gay and not a vampire. Hillarious.
I've always had a soft spot for this and still revisit it. It was actually released singly prior to the pack you had mentioned, along with those other "Lost Collection" titles which are also great. Slaughter High, Silent Night...you should totally due My Best Friends a Vampire. Great flick AND it's got David Warner in it!
8:16 I'm the same way when I see Ned! His portrayal of Otis, the assistant to Lex Luthor in the Superman movie, was so memorable! And that walk... plodding along. And the music! Dum dum da dum. Dum dum dum dum dum dum dummmm.
"Otisburg? Otisburg?!" (And while searching to make sure I was spelling it correctly, I discovered that Otisburg became a district in Gotham City in some video game.)
I was like 6 when i saw it on VHS in the 90s, i still have the quotes memorized. "YOUNG LADY, WILL YOU PULL DOWN YOUR DRESS." "SURE" [ BooiNG sfx ] "UP!" "OOooH"
I completely forgot or missed this one somehow growing up. I remember the Naked Guns, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, and I wanted to say every other spoof movie but I can't recall ever watching this. Will look it up, thanks!
