Game Over. am i the only one who understands the origins of Jigsaw aka John Kramer? He's like The Horror version of Dr Phil Mcgraw! YEAH AND OPRAH WINFREY WAS RESPONSIBLE! LOL.
My mom being a very avid fiction reader, she figured out that Jigsaw was laying there alive with them. I was caught completely off guard, and I loved it.
From Bolton england... Was in San Fran to la 2002 and saw this at Mans Chinese theatre on Hollywood blvd or sunset or whatever.. Stressed at beginning... by the end , nearly having a NERVOUS breakdown, and never saw it coming that the dead body in the middle of the floor was going to get up... Awesome triste ( for Me and My girlfriend ) But by the sounds othe the reaction of the rest of the audience, a surprise/shock ending too. Came out into the lobby and I was watching the audience coming out. Everyone had tge same expression ....... "what was that?????!!" Drove round fresco, golden gate park, sausalito, Santa Cruz, San José, Santa Cruz, monterrey, carmel, big sur , into las vegas and back to coast La. Awesome memories. And Saw is one of them ❤
@@penguinproductions8829 I don’t see it as such. It was an interesting occurrence but insignificant to the story, made even more so when you leave in the third film he was drugged the whole time, likely unaware of anything that was occurring in the room.
The later entries (3 and up) were definitely gruesome and violent, but I never understood what's so gruesome about the first 2 movies. They are pretty tame, especially compared to many other horror movies.
So wait, the guy asked himself what he would do if he had a limited time to live and...the idea came to him to chain people into a basement and make them try to escape by sawing off their limbs, or reversing a bear trap to rip open a woman's head like a watermelon is what he came up with‽ Bruh...are you alright...like...are you sure‽
I just love this movie - and it's sequels. Truly a one badass collection of movies - which I've been collecting all on DVD, of course. Absolutely wanna see the latest installment!
Sometimes with these low budget films they are lightning in a bottle. I often wonder what those other studios and actors who turned down this movie are thinking today. Both of these young men are talented and obviously those who turned them down, you have to say they got the last laugh. "Let's play a game". Good video Minty.
This was one of my favorite 2000s Horror movies. It was unique that this movie was filmed around building with little gore shown (at least compared to the sequels).
Saw this in theaters, was so unique and wild for a slasher flick and so enjoyed the twist. I did not like the sequels after John died. But this still holds that special place in my heart with "Screamers" and "The Thing"
@@omegarugal9283not really, you don’t see Paul’s body for very long and the only gore aside from that is the one shot of the guys guts in Amanda’s hands
The Thin Man from 1934 was shot in 2 weeks because Warner Bros didn't believe it would be good. It's budget was $213,000 (3.7 million today) and made 1.4 million (17.7 million today). Just goes to show a good movie can be done quickly with a limited budget. Chasing Amy was the same...with a budget of 750,000
Lol a truly good part of it being an australian production is that your pronounciation of the title is actually completely in line with how the creators had it in their minds 😄 another great show minty!
It's one of my favorite horror films. And like most horror franchises, the sequels get more over the top and less what made the original so special, yet still manage to entertain.
So...Wan was waiting in a doctor's office, wondering what he'd do if he was told he only had months to live, and he came up with SAW?! I hope I never piss off that dude!!
Yeah, I love horror but torture porn just doesn't work for me. Couldn't make it past 10 minutes of Saw since I thought it was both stupid and unnecessarily gruesome.
I'm sure the original actor turned down Jigsaw because the thought of playing a fake corpse for 99% of the movie didn't sound as exciting as having a bigger part. I'm sure he regrets it now that Jigsaw has become a horror icon thanks to the sequels. However, I can't imagine anyone other than Tobin Bell as Jigsaw honestly and credit him for a lot of the franchise's success.
I remember as a kid leaving a mediocre Anaconda sequel at the theater. I walked into the hallway and saw a poster, A terrified Shawnee Smith with this weird fucked up Contraption on her head. I then looked at the title, SAW. To this day I've never forgotten that brilliant piece of marketing. I knew the second I saw that poster that I had to see that movie, I didn't care what the premise was or any other details about it I just knew my eyes were going to watch that film.
Yes he does idiot. He locks and chains a person in and room without food or water......I pray you don't have kids....if so please remember to feed them.
I only watched these films because Shawnee Smith is super HOT! 🔥 Also, my cousin met her at a meet and greet and said she was really nice and very cool!
On Billy don't you mean pulled along with fishing line, it's pretty flimsy for pushing with. The actors obviously are made of stronger stuff, because quite a few made returns to the franchise.
The Saw series storyline is complicated, the timeline and character development is tough to follow particularly with parts 3 & 4 taking place simultaneously and all the flashbacks tend to throw people off as to who's doing what to whom and for what reasons, it starts becoming difficult to keep up. If you watched the whole series it makes sense but there are so many loose threads that connect say Part 2 to part 6 or part 3 to part 7, Saw X takes place a couple weeks after the first Saw and Spiral is a spinoff that takes place after Part 9, Jigsaw is a prequel, if you stopped watching halfway through it's probably because it got too confusing. Pay attention to the dates on things, that's about the best advice I can give.
I don't do horrors.. just because they're boring and predictable. However, when this movie came out and I saw it I was pretty blown away. It's a shame none of the others kept upto any standard but the first Saw was pretty amazing. Timeless classic in my opinion.
Exactly , the first has just the right amount of limits of torture and story telling to keep you engaged, it was the sequels that really just pushed the torture porn elements, I found myself switching off from the films, as they dropped the drama element
Such a iconic horror franchise.I especially love that texhnically there is no killer. Just a guy kidnapping people who puts people who he feels are not deserving of their lives land puts them in life or death situations. Just genious concept storytelling. No need for a masked killer or dream master killer. P0
@11:27 That almost happened to Star Trek: VI. All the Star Trek's received a pg-13 rating, however, in the scene of the 6th movie when the mass executions were occurring the Klingon's blood was originally red. But, in the scene the gravity aboard ship was out, and all the blood bubbles were floating around the ship, and this almost wound getting the film an R rating. So, the production crew went back, and changed the blood to pink, so yes the scene now looked like the attack of pepto bismol droplets. But, this did preserve and prevent the 6th movie from getting an R rating.
Part 8 explains how Jigsaw got his name, he carved a jigsaw puzzle shape out of his first group of victim's skin. He only did it in Part 8, the first half of the movie is a prequel that takes place before Saw which was named because of the hacksaw Lawrence used to cut off his foot.
That was explained way back in the first movie- I remember the detectives talking about the Jigsaw piece carved out of the guy in the barbed wire trap. We knew how Jigsaw got his name well before the 8th film.
@@doperagu8471 The barbed wire trap wasn't Jigsaw, neither were the ones that got Danny Glover and his partner, it was a copycat calling himself Pighead after Jigsaw's alter-ego, he copied Jigsaw's MO right down to carving the jigsaw shape out of their skin but John only did that to his first round of victims in Jigsaw.
@@doperagu8471 And that wasn't part 1, it was in Part 2 when John and Donnie Wahlberg were negotiating while Donnie's son was taking part in a game with Amanda. Mathews (Donnie) asked why John called himself Jigsaw and John explained that he didn't pick the name, it was given to him by the media when someone leaked information of the skin carvings to the press.
Great Job Minty, I Always Loved Saw 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, & 10 are my Favorites in the franchise & Some Of my Favorite Horror Films, Great Traps, Likable Characters, Solid Casts, Carry Elwes, Danny Glover, Monica Potter, Costas Mandylor, Tobin Bell, Angus McFadyen, Donnie Wahlberg, Dina Meyer, Shawnee Smith, & Sean Patrick Flanery do a Great Job in those Films, Well Written & Directed, & Great Tension Too, my Only Issue is that I don’t like that None them have Good Endings & Always End On a Sour Note, But I Still Love Those Movies Though
Yesss!!!! Thank you for making one for SAW!!!---I remember seeing this when it first came out with my friends and we were absolutely blown away in horror. Nobody had seen anything like this before and it was a throwback to the old slasher and serial killer movies from the 80s. It was fresh, new and exciting and for a low budget movie it was a BOX OFFICE SMASH!!! From that day forward, my sister and I would never miss a Saw movie no matter how campy they started getting. People only go to see the new contraptions they come up with...But we of the 2000s generation who just turned 18 will always have that beloved memory of Halloween season where we saw a movie that made us jump once again with movie horror long forgotten!!!
You know you repeat it four lies, so I'm sorry but I can no longer watch ever again they don't recommend you recommend your channel you never will I subscribe to your channel.
@@SumDumGy I know when watches the 4th one I think it was the one when the giant. Ice cube squash his head!? The cinema was nearly empty and people were feeling faint hilarious
@@morethanawheelchair2344 I don’t think I ever made it that far. I’m pretty sure I stopped at the third one but picked up the collection last week so I’m starting over.
Leigh Whannell would later Write & Direct the absolutely brilliant 2018 Sci-Fi/Mystery/Action film "Upgrade", itself with a much lower budget than you'd expect and an amazing finale.
i have loved horror thriller movies since childhood, but the saw series, hostile and similar i could never get into as its just TOO much, its a sub genre considered gore/torture pron. is just nasty. but, i do appreciate all the acting and effects that goes into these.
There you go again spouting off about another lie, the movie was not created based on a migraine or headache, I mean other people lie about movies but that doesn't mean you should, you need to dig deep into research. Because the more lies you repeat make you that much more of a liar. Does it matter if you know it's a lie or not. You shouldn't repeat it until you know the truth. So that's the second lie you repeated. So you have two strikes against you.
We need a Cryptkeeper v Billy showdown double-billing. A good lol campy horror movie followed by Saw 11/12/whenever lol. And I don't care what anyone says, creepiest doll goes to that long-armed freak of a clown in _Poltergeist._ Jus' sayin'.
Lie one it was not meant for straight to video release, wherever you got that information it's a lie, & and because you didn't do your research good enough & can you repeated the LIE well I need nothing no more about how that makes you look.
