I must say that Mr. Allen was a joy to work with on set. I got to work on the Santa's workshop (shot in an old Colgate factory) scenes as a stand-in and was amazed at how humble and caring Tim was towards the cast and crew. He made us laugh, got us drinks and was an all round gentleman.
I worked on Home Improvement a few times, and I found him to be really playful, but sometimes, he would keep playing while everyone else was over it and wanted to get the scene done. He would hit the annoying level kind of a lot, in my times there, but he was not a jerk, just silly when we wanted to move on with the job.
@@RJLightning68 Not that I remember, but the guy truly loves to tease people in a fun way, but a way that would make it hard to get the job done too. He is not a mean teaser, but a silly one. At least he was way back when.
Yeah and? It's also used in the movie. Calvin reads it to Charlie from the book and then Charlie says "row-suchek-latter" instead of row such a clatter
@@Fanuc_Operator1990 AND he said in the video the name came from the noise on the roof in the movie, which isn't true. It came from the poem, which is 100,000,000,000 times more famous and relevant.
@@Fanuc_Operator1990 It's "Rose Suchak Ladder Company," but it's the way kids' minds work. A little kid I knew liked to sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" as he swung as high as he could on the swings. He later asked me, "What's a 'worldso'?"
Tim Allen as Santa was excellent preparation for his most indispensable role. After traversing an entire planet in an impossible single night's time, only one remaining epic journey remained: To Infinity, and BEYOND!
Yeah, I liked the sequels. They never quite captured the feel of the first movie, but I still enjoy watching them. Nice Bob Ross impression at the end. Loved it. 😁
I agree! I love the first one! It's a classic film I have to watch during the holidays. But the second is pretty good too. I'll even watch the third occasionally.
I always wondered why Scott didn't just shave in front of his ex wife to prove he wasn't doing this on purpose. She'd have a hard time explaining the beard that grew in in 5 seconds
The second movie was pretty good and made sense. Like when has there never been a Mrs. Claus? It makes sense to introduce her and made for a good story. The third movie seemed like a cash grab to me.
@@moviemaniac9034 True, but I remember being traumatized by a couple of 1930s-'40s so-called "kids'" movies, so I wonder who thought this would be a nifty plot twist? (Come to think of it, evil Jack Frost in the third movie was probably pretty scary to a lot of little kids, too!)
number3665 I completely disagree. The second movie is good yes and I love the fact that they bring in the idea of a mrs Clause. But other than that the second movie bores me to death. I love the 3rd one the best I think. Although I can admit that the whole Jack Frost thing was kinda....questionable 🤣🤣
*buzzsawgr81* I always hear her say _play_ boy, which is natural. I'll watch it with subtitles this time, just to be sure. (BTW, I never could figure out why the writers thought "Armand _Assante?!"_ was so funny.) *EDIT:* I switched on the subtitles and _you're right!_
The 2nd movie was half stupid half beautiful. The stuff with Mrs Clause was great. The stuff with the toy Santa was god awful, and those toy soldiers were the dumbest designs ever. Even as a kid I hated them. They had no elbows or knee, trip them!!
I remembered that line from the vhs. I never realized it had got took out and if Disney acquired the number and disconnected it, then I'd think it shouldn't matter anymore
@@Fanuc_Operator1990 Egg nog...out. Chocolate milk...out. Pie...out. Granted the kid did end up getting a bite at the north pole which was probably good. If Judy developed her cocoa that long imagine the cooks!
#9: Original Title is not just a reference to a scene from the movie, it is a line from " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas". "When out on the lawn there arose *such a clatter*…"
Anakin, I was referring to CC Moore's original 1822/23(?) poem "A Visit From St Nicholas/ 'Twas a Night Before Christmas" and in that poem, it is written "on the lawn".
yes, but in the movie they use that line as a pun, as the ladder that magically appears to go up to the roof is made by the "A. Rose Suchak Ladder Company"
I was eight years old when the original the Santa Claus movie came out. I saw it in movie theaters twice because I loved it so much. Then I got it on VHS for that following Christmas as a gift and I watched it countless times over and over again. I grew up absolutely adoring that movie. Made me believe in Santa Claus a little bit again even though I didn’t believe anymore when it came out. I went and saw the second one in 2002 with my father when I was a teenager and I loved it too. Yes, it’s got some more cheese than I would like but the overall story and feel of it sticks to the original for the most part. The third is basically just terrible but I still watch it anyway.
We are the same age! I saw the movie in theaters when I was 8, and then went to see the sequel as well. It’s always been my favorite Christmas movie- I think because I was the perfect age to see it new and still be moved by the magic. It will always be my favorite Christmas movie!!!!
I just watched this again three nights ago Minty! This movie came out just as I was transitioning from a child to a young adult, I loved this movie back in the day, it’s a blast from the past.
I love that you’ve included so many Christmas movies in your videos. After having more difficulty each year in finding my favorite holiday films in free streaming services, I’ve started actively collecting Christmas DVDs; if I have to pay to watch them regardless, I’d just as soon own them. And your insights have added to the enjoyment of this new hobby. I did own a few Christmas movies before I started this project, though, including this movie which I watch on DVD most years. But your comment regarding the deleted 1-800 phone number scene motivated me to pull out my old VHS to peek at the opening scenes - and sure enough, there it was! I was excited to find that, and if you hadn’t mentioned the pre-1997 VHS I likely wouldn’t have ever missed it in the DVD release. Yet, it sounded very familiar in the VHS when I learn it. Thanks for sharing your film research.
"1 800 spank me... I know that number"... Is one of my favorites parts in the movie. Again... Why is Disney responsible for making sure nobody's child calls the number?! Parent s are the ones who should be making sure of that... But no... Nobody actually wants to take the time to pay attention to their child... So adults lose that incredibly classic scene.😡 So aggravating/ unfair!!😡😡
Here’s a fun little fact for you if you ever do 10 things you didn’t know about the Santa Clause 2. Since the elves are played by little kids, some of the younger ones, like the cute little girl who asked Santa if he wanted a cookie, believed that he was the real Santa Claus. So for them, he would stay in character
I have to watch this every year. It's one of the movies that helps me get into the Christmas spirit. Plus, it helped me get into character when I played Santa Claus for work and for my family. Great movie!
Thanks Minty! I love how you go into depth, with the back stories, and extra video excerpts. I usually watch all three of these movies, around the Christmas season. THIS HELPS!!
LMAO!!!! Ur ending almost i was laughing so hard I got chest pains. And I also really enjoy ur videos. My friends and people at work always talk movies. Im always able to blow their minds with what I learn from ur videos. Your awesome!
@@aaronburratwood.6957 I wouldn't say he went crazy just unfortunate things happened I just read all about the show he was doing I think he's doing OK with that now
The part that always bugged me when the sequels came out was the Mrs. Claus, if we are to follow canon, then the Santa that fell off the roof had to have been married as well per the Mrs. Claus. So if that is true, what happened to the first Mrs Claus when the original Santa fell off the roof? Did she automatically die and disappear as well? It puts a new spin on it when you think Santa and Mrs Claus lives depend on him.
Amen. How about how they dont even blink an eye after Scott comes in as the new santa. But niw they work feverishly to keep him alive. Everyone tells him in the second one. He has been the best santa. Kind of sad really.
The Santa Clause: a movie where a divorced workaholic father tries to connect to his son, kills a mythical being only to be possessed by it and cursed to live in the deformed body of the being for the rest of his life and be taken to an ice world each year to live amongst elves. When he returns home, his family, friends, and employer cast him and his son out of society. When confronted by police, the elves assault a police officer, kidnap the son, and break the imprisoned father out of jail. For the father and son to prove their innocence, they must break into homes across the world once a year leaving valuable items behind indicating their presence... Still a great movie.
@@seeya205 I agree, but I had to throw in the quote (a tad altered) from 'the dad' when he saw Ralphie on the stairs...("...he looks like a deranged easter bunny...").☺
Yo, first! Bob Ross Rest in Peace 👊🏾 Legendary! Second, I'm a bigger fan now, Minty! Ya show/channel is one of my favorite things to get on RU-vid for! Keep doin ya thing, Bro! God Bless!
This episode sealed the deal! You transforming into Bob Ross made my absolute day! You have a Merry Christmas, or how they say it in other parts of the world Happy Christmas!
Not to be confused with Santa Claus The Movie (1985). This is one of my all time favorite Christmas movies, it makes you feel warm inside. Remember when I first watched it in (1994) when I was in high school, ahh great memories.
This movie was shot at my school when I was a kid. Local news showed Tim Allen playing in our playground. When I saw it in theatres, I could see our class art work in the background of the scenes shot inside the school.
I still remember watching this in the movie theatres when I was a kid. Minty, it's like you somehow know how to access my childhood memories! Thanks for this and happy holidays to you!
I first saw 'The Santa Clause' when I had to spend the early part of December in the hospital a couple of years ago. It was on cable, and I enjoyed it a lot. The second movie was pretty good too, the last one was a disaster. Before that I had no desire to see the original movie, but seeing this movie was the only part of my hospital stay that I enjoyed.
05:16 The hidden Mickey is there, and I'm surprised you didn't see it, as I saw it right away. It's not where you point, it's more to the middle and up a bit, and it's not a white blur, it's a grey blur.
Thank you minty. Once more you bring me a lot of joy during a hard time in my life. While I'm not a fan of Tim Allen now, this movie was a favorite of mine as a kid.
Mrs Doubtfire was originally meant to be a big screen movie version of Home Improvement where Tim and Jill were seperated. Tim Allen thought it was a horrible idea for the show. The idea was shopped around and rewritten for Robin Williams. Disney who owned Home Improvement still wanted to capitalize on the massive popularity of Allen. That's why Allen stars in The Santa Clause. In a way Tim Allen's The Santa Clause exists because of Mrs Doubtfire.
"The Santa Clause" was one of a series of low-budget but highly profitable movies Disney made in the late 80s and early 90s.Disney needed for it's live action movies to make money. While other studios were turning out fewer movies with bigger budgets, Disney put out more movies with smaller budget, typically around $20 million. If the movie lost money they weren't out too much but it was very easy for these movies to make money.
I always find it funny when a film recasts an actor for a sequel but to play another character. Like Peter Boyle playing Calvins boss in the first film and then Father Time in the sequel. Another example is Amy Yasbek in Problem Child 1 and 2
Love The Santa Clause, one of my favorite Christmas movies, fun seeing Tim Allen talk trash to his ex wife's husband and turn into Santa. The 3rd one is silly but im sorry Martin Short is hilarious as Jack Frost
Though not in this film, my favorite Santa Clause scene is from The Santa Clause 3, when Jack Frost is in search of Santa’s snow globe and opens a cabinet and then states “It’s just a bunch of beans. I know he can’t eat all of these beans.”
