That's my big problem with Batman, he doesn't come across as relatable. He has virtually infinite willpower, smarts, and he always comes out on top. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but I get a good laugh when I hear people complain about Superman's lack of relatability while praising Batman in the same breath.
Although not always relatable, I like to view Batman as the embodiment of human determination and will. It's his willpower that pushed him to improve himself physically and mentally. And I think he is meant to show how much a determined person can achieve through hard work and dedication. I think most of us had faced situations, where we underestimated ourselves and our abilities in handling certain situations, only to miraculously pull through and be stronger and better people because of it. Even though we may never be as strong, smart and knowledgeable as Batman, just trying to match him can be enough to be better versions of ourselves.
This is spot on. Batman was originally intended to be a human detective vigilante dealing with crime infested Gotham. He does have very high willpower, intelligence, pain tolerance and reflexes but is never superhuman. I never even understood why Batman is called a superhero without superpowers. It all happened just because he became massively popular, making his entry in the Justice League financially necessary. So the JL Batman is now capable of getting thrown around by beings like Superman and Darkseid and come off without so much as a broken bone. The power scaling for this beloved character is stretched so much that he is now capable of being a god himself while somehow still being human. IMO Justice League totally ruined Batman. Although I hate the BvS movie, it did get one thing right. Bruce plays a role in scouting and gathering metahumans as a team, effectively making him the founder of the league along with Diana, but takes on a more bureaucratic role in the league than on the front lines. The fights with Superman and Doomsday were just infinitely stretched to allow Batman to survive or even win.
Favorite Batman outsmarted everyone moment. That time Harley Quinn almost killed him, so Batman tricked the Joker into saving him because he knew the Joker's ego wouldn't allow anyone else to kill Batman.
"If you can't see the danger of an out of control Justice League, I don't need to wait for a vote, I don't belong here." - Batman in the Legion of Doom DC movie.
Thats actually one of his bad moments. He says that while he already assumed that they wouldnt see the danger and so he went behind their backs to make the plans instead of discussing the need for them with his team first. Superman would gladly hand him kryptonite in case there ever comes a need and hell, the plan counted on Supes being a nice and trusting guy to get the kryptonite close enough in first place. Bruce has a hard time admitting fault and apologizing
@@nolongerbleach Not really, John Wick is more free-flow. He kinda just observes his surroundings and uses that against his enemies for the most part. Unless he has a contract or something and has prep time.
It's not true that Batman trusts noone but himself. He doesn't trust himself. He even has a failsafe plan to take himself down in case he turns bad. The only person he trusts is Alfred.
The fact that he defeated Prometheus like that tells me that the writers couldn't come up with any other way for him to win... or they just thought that would be cool somehow
A mind can be trained, just as a sword can be sharpened. but, when you sharpen a sword, you diminish its mass. the mind only increases, and anyone can learn. the strongest, the fastest, the kindest weapon it may not be, but the danger it possesses and proposes is undeniable.
Once he was tied up by the lasso of truth and when asked his identity, he answered "Batman" instead of Bruce Wayne. Because he conditioned his brain to change his personality whenever he wears the cowl. I thought that was pretty cool.
Bane also outsmarts him on multiple occasions. Prometheus caught him by surprise once. Hush kinda spooked him. Clayface reallllllly fooled him in Arkham City, though.
@@galaxycraftings No tbh i think Luther is the smartest man but batman is more like an universal. He knows everything. Didnt Lex solve an equation at the source wall? Not every one in the universe can do it..Batman is clever but not smarter than Lex
Honestly, there is only a few heroes completely original out there. Batman is one. There is just no other hero like him, and that is why he is so iconic.
jj62024 just because he’s inspired by another character, doesn’t exactly mean he’s not original. If that were the case that there wouldn’t be very much that is “original” in the world. I don’t know much about zorro, but the only apparent similarities are aesthetic. Batman adds enough to zorro aesthetic to be considered his own original character
It might come off as an arrogance that it needs a whole team with super human capabilities to contain him, it could also be said that he trusts them in a way, considering that despite him having contingencies against other members, he still believes that they could control or defeat him.
Dr.Destiny was seriously nerfed in the show. In the comics Batman has never defeated him, nor did he have a plan for him. In one of the stories it was The Atom who hid himself in the dream stone while Destiny defeated the rest of the JLA, and The Atom was able to surprise him with a counter-attack.
Honestly, my favorite Batman story was when Bruce Wayne got a jury to not just trust Batman because he is Batman, because he knew he made a mistake as Batman.
When he realized Mr. Freeze didn't commit a series of murders, right? He really should have known better, Mr. Freeze (by that point in main-line comics) was solely focused on curing his wife, those murders had nothing that could help that cause...
I once read that Batman's list of how to take out the League was in fact a 'false flag'. Bats never weakens his position; sharing tactics would do do. The list was just rejected ideas, speculations and 'doodles'. His true plans stayed secret.
Planet Jadarius creating plans to destroy your friends on a whim, and hiding them in secret is kinda dishonorable in my opinion, but hey, it made for a kickass comic so I don’t care
Planet Jadarius wasn’t trying to attack, but you’re right in the sense that he has a code that he lives by. His persona doesn’t really permit him to have an overwhelming since of honor. He’s at an inherit disadvantage, so he has to try and make things unfair for his opponents so he can win any battle
In the Knight’s End volume of Knightfall, Batman beats Azrael by crawling through small areas and making Azrael remove parts of his armor. Batman beats him when almost all of the armor is gone from Azrael’s suit.
That was indeed quite clever. I remember some of the criticism around Azrael's armor, but it seems that the writers took that criticism and used it as a crucial plot point that allowed Batman to take him down - getting him to intentionally remove his large, unweildy armor.
@@timburtonsuncle if you read the books, he knows martial arts, and he is high middle class at best in terms of wealth, that and he is a master of disguise
@@timburtonsuncle So many dense observations in this video's comments section as to quickly dismiss Sherlock's martial prowess. Does anyone ever read Doyle's novels anymore? Or at least watched the Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr?
One of my favorite parts of the New 52 is when the Justice League has built the Hellbat suit for Batman that is secured by individual passwords from the other members, when Bruce decides to steal it to bring back Damian's body from Apokolips he already has an override in place to bypass the security meant to make it a team decision if he should use it.
I remember in justice league unlimited i believe him and superman were talking about batman and all his plans, he asks batman, "you have all these plans to take us out should we turn evil, but what about you." Batman does his smirks and replies "that's what the justice league is for"
All Star Batman where his identity was revealed and the GCPD smashed into the secret entrance behind the clock...but he already had a built in mechanism that led them to a little man cave instead of the real Batcave.
When you outsmart someone who is one of the most intelligent beings in your universe who is also coincidentally a God, specifically a God of Knowledge who has a chair that can tell him the answer to all of the questions in the universe but one, you know you're damn smart.
@@Nanocide_9 I thought Batman asked the chair that question and it told him there were 3 Jokers, which is kind of an answer but really also points out that Batman's question needs to be more specific.
@Letitia Kongue Darkseid is basically a so called "New God" and since Batman outsmarted Darkseid, that technically means that he actually has outsmarted a God I guess
How about in Infinte Crisis, he assembles a team and infiltrates Brother Eye, and while there he outsmarted a freaking A.I. enhanced by Alexander Luthor tech, making it believe that he was trying to turn it off while all the time he was just the bait, and distracting it while Mr. Terrific was doing all the damage.
@@amanpreetgill7564 a meteorite was going to destroy the earth and Brainiac estimated the time of arrival but it wasn't too accurate it was within a few days and Batman ended up calculating the exact date and time, like a beast
@@amanpreetgill7564 well Batman is the smartest person in DC comics, he outsmarted a 6th Dimensional being and made a suit that can rewrite a person molecule my molecule
That's the beauty of Batman and Superman. Superman represents talent, as in, extraordinary skills come to him without effort. Sort of like how Salieri was jealous of Mozart (in the movie Amadeus).. Batman felt he was set on his path at a young age and he had ample resources to pave his way towards his end goal. To be physically, intellectually, and psychologically the bane of all that is unjust. He spent his life working towards that ideal.
The main reason batman is so iconic and praised is because all of his virtues are the mere result of his hard work and discipline. Rest of the superheroes got their powers kinda in a platter. But batsy earned them the hard way...
I think that one was more survival than actually outsmarting anyone. I still don't know how Batman while starved, dehydrated, and drugged, with a gaping hole in his chest managed to swim through sewer water and survive without getting infected to hell and back.
Thanos snaps and batman doesn't die Thanos: Nani? Batman: I AM BATMAN Why doesn't anyone get this joke? For the idiots, let me explain. Batman won't die because he's BATMAN. He owns the most powerful weapon in all of comics. It's not his brains or any of his suits. It's called plot armour...The only person that can beat it is perhaps Alferd.
One of my favorite outsmarted moments came from the animated series when The Riddler thought he'd created the perfect trap and Batman died in it. When Batman showed up later, Riddler was desperate to know how he escaped. He offered up information on his plot in exchange for the answer, but Batman refused to tell him, sending him back to Arkham in a hysterical fit.
So... could the Dark Knight beat Captain America? batsy beat him once in the dc/marvel 1996 crossover. Batman is by far my favourite character ever, cap is my favourite marvel character.
Batman though smart strong and his technical advancements captain America is a super soldier and has those and more with his healing ability and slowed age so in my opinion probably captain America
@@Dragonpit Exactly! Cap would have advantage during initial encounter, but more time fight goes, more tactical advantage Batman would get, as he is simply smarter.
@@Dragonpit i dont say batman cant beat cap. but deathbattle finish that fight like stupid. cap is also very good tactician there is no fucking way for his being that ignorant and careless to throw his shield into the fog so randomly
Batman is so scary that if he ever were to T-Pose to assert dominance, everyone would panic because they wouldn't know what Batman has done to them and just pass out from panic. Not knowing that it was part of Batman's plan.
In the End I think he will Win what ever he setts his Mind to Do. Any enemy any situation. No matter the Cost. I think he even has a plan for end of Days.
