He may not have achieved the highest number of grandslam titles but he had won 100+ career titles with incredible, effortless, artistic, exciting and magical performances in court. He's a dynamic and awesome player, artist and performer rolled into one. And another wonderful thing - he's a gorgeous and well-dressed gentleman. I still find #2 to be one of THE most astounding points every time I see it, and I've seen it many times. One thing I liked about Roddick was he had a sense of humour, something Agassi certainly didn't in #1, LOL. I don't care if Nadal and Djokovic get more grand slam titles, there has never been a better tennis player than Federer. He makes it look beautiful, he's like an artist, some of the shots are just almost impossible to even conceive. Most of the time I'm not too interested in watching tennis, but I could watch Federer play all day, he just has that special something, he is a maestro and in his prime he was just unplayable. Poor Andy Roddick came up against his very own kriptonite (Federer) time and time again and I think that in any other era of tennis he would have won atleast 5-10 additional grand slam titles.

If there’s one thing that makes people respect Federer so much its that he delivers pretty much all the time. When you watch him play, you are confident you’re going to see something special even if he loses. You know its pretty rare he loses without a fight or gets completely outclassed. Only maybe the last few years, his level has dropped a shade and given how much tennis has changed since he first came on the tour and how old he is. Most could forgive him...

Why Roger's play is exciting is because he takes risks on a regular basis and gets away with it because he alone has the talent. He plays the unexpected unorthodox shot - shots don't that don't even occur to other players, even the top ones. When he got a short ball, instead of driving it into one of the corners as Nadal or Djokovic would, he plays a very delicate drop shop that floats high in the air before falling just over the opponents side of the net. The flight of the ball was so unexpected Berdych could only stand there and wander what was going on. The between the legs shot, the drive volley, the look away dink, receiving from the service line, regularly using the drop shot - all popularised by Federer and used by young players today. .

As someone who just started following pro tennis, I miss not having watched peak Fed play. Videos like this really helps me understand just how amazing this man is and what he's done for the sport. Thank you.

Nole and Rafa will have more slams... but this guy technique is unmatchable. The way he hits the backhand... so beautiful.

Let it be known that Roger Federer was the reason why they slowed courts down because he was soooo good and dominating everyone that they feared he would ruin the game being so good.

Actually, Federer's play had little or nothing to do with the decision to slow the Wimbledon courts--almost all the pros at the time were in agreement that the courts were too fast for competitive, entertaining tennis.

Even by Federer's standards, the level he produced against Zverev in Shanghai last year at the end of the second set is absolutely unbelievable! I'm not sure even Federer was aware of that gear in his game!
