Great vid, one quick item to add on shops: if the character talks to the vendor while level one it only takes 400G bribe to put them at 100% favorability. That cost goes up every character level. So if you are going to be doing a lot of buying/selling at a vendor, go to camp first, pay Withers 100g for a reset, leave camp and trade 400g to the vendor. Buy/sell at the best prices, and then check the vendor inventory refresh on each level up to see what shows up.

I knew about the container trick, but I NEVER knew clicking the scale button above barter would auto fill gold. I always did the math in my head, got it wrong, then added/removed gold again to make it even. @@dakquan

For pickpocketing with hold person, there is a caveat that people will become hostile if you cast it in notice range of others. But you can work around this by luring with find familiar cat. Some vendors are in convenient locations to isolate (e.g. golbin camo vendor), while for others, you can just lure the merchant and other npcs to an isolated location, have your character start talking to the merchant to keep them from moving, and wait for all the other npcs to walk away back to their original locations before you hold person).
Loving the throw build so far man, makes your character feel like a god. I actually really enjoy throwing weapons that may not return because they have a different flight trajectory. For example the returning pike might get path interuppted but dragon's grasp for example will make the difference, The weight difference is obviously considerable but just a nice bit of flavour & mechanics mixed together for a good time. I was just messing around with a throw warlock variation that I might end up throwing up on the channel. I literally beat the game yesterday yet had no idea there was a search bar in the inventory, I never knew you could balance the trade money with that button (yes I painstakingly tried to choose the exact money by splitting the coins every time), hell I never even knew about that summon cat spell, what the hell class can learn that? I appreciate it my man! The game is full of sooooo much stuff, I've played for so long and finding new things everyday honestly. I cast the cat spell from this video using find familiar off of the ranger class. You can get the spell through ritual caster feat, on wizard, and a bunch of other sources. Minor illusion works similarly but I've found to be a bit more clunky
After multiple hours i found some interesting mechanic that was absent from all youtube guides on surprise round. You can get a free bonus action on all party members: 1) select a party memeber and make a sneak attack (action should be done in enemy sight radius this way you gurantee surprise round not stealth check) 2) split other party memebers and activate hide 3) before attacking with other characters make sure to select turned based mode. It should result in action + bonus action for all party during surprise round.
To make things clear utilizing turned based mode allows for 2 actions + bonus action or 2 bonus actions + action during surprise round for everyone (assuming all party is level 1).
Minor illusion is a bit broken - does not trigger undead enemies like skeletons, some fights are scripted so you have to make them hostile first then disengage in order to make them react. You can also engage in battle with singe caracter and place lines of sight however you want with second character not engaged in battle.
I'll have to play around with the engage and disengaging, I never tried that portion out. Some quality info. I've noticed minor illusion not working a decent bit and found the cat more consistent
Great insights. It is easy to overlook small game mechanics as Larian doesn't explain everything and leaves it to players to figure out. I am slow walking BG3 even after playing all of EA. But after a long break before release it all seems totally new. You seem to have a knack for finding the layers hiding in plain sight. Thanks for spoiler-fre tips.

Oh no lol, I did try to look into ways to make the cat invulnerable. I'd be down to glitch so the cat can live. I've had cats forever as well. 9 lives op
I know you can restrict yourself in order to do a more hardcore run, but I truly wish we did not have vendor refresh in this game. There is no point of supplies, be it food, potions or arrows as long as it is there. Which again removes that stategical layer. Pathfinder WoTR did this really well in act 1, where you had a very limited supply of fire res potions etc. and had to use them just right in order to take on all the encounters (at least on hardest difficulty).
I feel ya, in EA I did a few solo runs with no consumables in battle and no long resting which was pretty fun. I think being able to do these things while also being able to self impose rule sets is the great thing about BG3. Right now I'm just doing solo tactician runs where I haven't super stocked up on resources through methods in the video but for some stuff on another run I'll probably mess around with it. I don't think Larian will introduce a mode that limits these interactions either if we use Divinity as a benchmark. Pathfinder is definitely a whole different beast. I did solo runs of Kingmaker on the hardest difficulty including slamming my head through the tutorial lmao
@@dakquan Yeah that's one of the beauties of this game you can play it how you want. Don't want to use shops don't have to. Only use white items on a solo play through with no healing spells on taction and must kill all mini and regular bosses take the challenge its on you 😊😊Love it the only thing I don't like is how powerful you become with the gear towards the end game it kind of trivialize the encounters because you are too strong.
We love a game with freedom! I feel ya on the endgame trivialization. I know there are games you don't end up feeling powerful towards the end which is a turn off for some. Remnant 2 did a great job of balancing feeling powerful for the smaller encounters while having to put in actual effort for the bosses when it comes to the hardest difficulty. Larian did something very similar with Divinity but that was even crazier lmao
I've never used Hold to pick pocket anyone so I don't know which is better, but I also like to use freeze time when I pickpocket so no one walks in on me.
I typically go with the freeze time pickpocket method as well. With the paralyze it takes a bit more set up but if you fail to steal something they can't react at all and you go right back to grabbing things

Always funny to see what you can do with the explosive barrels and stuff. Find it to tedious just like putting my weapon into a burning candle before fight, but thats the best part of the game. You can but you dont need to. You can make up your mind what you want to use and not use in the game in and out of combat and make it your own playthrough that probably no one has done in the same way.
You captured the experience of the game perfectly. The freedom of expression brings this game up a few levels for sure. Being able to do what you want to do and playing around in a well coded sandbox has been a lot of fun.
I'll have to check on more levers, I ended up casting the grease spell and it let me move the statue after the fail. This could be due to what you mentioned with anything hitting the statue working. i'm sure there's a collision event coded for it to work in some regard but figuring out if grease helps out at all vs grease just counting as something hitting the statue I'd have to datamine lmao. No numbers pop up with the spell of course
Hmmm... Brinna the halfling hireling does not have a background that gives her medicine for me. Does anyone know the reason for that? Did it come with an update? I don/t think one can change the background of hirelings.
I played a bunch of early access since it came out 3 years ago. I just checked the math and you would be correct with it not being possible to have 1000 hours without early access. It would be 984 hours total since release. With the Larian launcher my numbers are inflated a bit because having it open counts towards play time so I'm sure you can shave a good bit off. I believe it was from doing the ceremony in the githyanki creche where you put the 3 items on the stands. I think I got it before I picked up Blood of Lathander which is a little bit afterwards. It is one of the two and when I did a quick google search I didn't see confirmation unfortunately.
that's fair that some of these lean more towards being an exploit. Your comment brought up magic tricks in my mind and how they exploit the senses a bit to make it seem like something happened that didn't lol. Then of course there are skateboard tricks and what not so there's definitely a range

I think with most things people are reasonable and if there's enough information provided opinions can be changed and at the least understood. Of course this isn't always the case. Ultimately growth can come from sharing information which is always a good thing.
@@RefrigeratorDiaries For me getting the astral sword of plane with a disarming attack that is a top notch trick. Killing minthara while she is crossing the bridge with an arrow that's a top notch trick but holding a merchant npc and looting them goes more towards an exploit route. Like i can literally download a god mode stealth trainer and pickpocket him. Its the same thing for me.
