Fun fact: the famous line in the film "Jaws" is actually "you're gonna need a bigger boat" not "we're". As people would quote the film to fit the situation they were in as a group, it made more sense in conversation to say "we're". Hence the common misconception. 🦈

EA has had a bad reputation for a very long time, even back in '03-'07 when I was in art school for my illustration degree at Ringling. EA was one of the recruiters that came to campus every year to hire graduating seniors, especially illustration majors, as concept artists. It was a well-known fact that _you did not go to work for EA unless you were DESPERATE for a job._ They were the absolute dirt last resort, even according to the faculty (who were required to be currently working in the industry in addition to teaching so they were "current" on trends and such). Even back then they were known for treating their employees like garbage, working them to the bone in endless crunch, and paying absolute ZERO in overtime because they were salary. If, by some unfortunate circumstances, you ended up taking a job with EA? You stayed no longer than two years to get the name on your resume before getting the hell out of there as fast as you could. What's truly amazing to me is that I told this story on another EA critical video and actually got bombarded with EA fanboys telling me I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about even though _I was there to live through it._ I still don't understand the need for some people to defend EA, especially with the track record they've garnered for themselves!

Honourable mention: forcing a shooter game engine on their oh yeah here we go sports time games. Destroyed the golf series, led to stagnation in the Fifa series and serious decline in the Madden series

Forcing BioWare to focus on Anthem at the expense of Mass Effect Andromeda is something I will never get over or forgive EA for.

Especially on how great Andromeda could have been if they had a better team working on it. Because it had some good ideas in it, just need a better team.

@@reygonzalez4719 They forced devs off of ME Andromeda onto Anthem until the game had a small fraction of people working on it. It had so much potential. The combat was actually great but everything else was seriously lacking.

@@themeanlesbeann ya I know. I would love nothing more than a Andromeda 2. But I highly doubt they ever will be a sequel given that BioWare is so eager to sweep it under the rug and many fans treated like the game itself killed their dog, I don't see it happening. Sadly.

I've been working in the games industry for 13 years already. My career started in EA Games. In the games industry, like any other, it is not rare to start with a temporary 1-2 years contract, kinda depends on the country were your are. In the two years that I worked for them, I had 12 contracts. Two years of constant work stability uncertainty that only ended when I went to work to another company. As far as I know, that is still the rule for a lot of people working for them.

the game i remember most from ea was medal of honor, medal of honour underground, amazing games shame ea really has become the villain these days and i remember they did command and conquer red alert! an amazing game. they have turned from the forces of good on the ps1 to the demonic being of ps4/5 era. its so sad lol

I know it prolly never gets mentioned by I'm still salty over how EA purchased the IP for the infamous PS1 game "Thrill Kill" only to shelf it and never allow it to surface. I'm a strong advocate for artistic expression so to deny all the hard work of everyone responsible for that IP is in my opinion just one of several reasons EA has lost me as a customer.

For me, it's always going to be the existence of C&C 4: Tiberian Twilight. And I'm one of those few people who prefer the EA LA-made C&C games (Generals, Red Alert 3) over the older Westwood games. That, and EA stepping away from developing for Nintendo consoles. Since then I've pretty much never played any EA-made game after that date.

1. Screwing over Dreamcast owners by refusing to put games on Sega's last system (The dollar we spend on a Dreamcast title is one less dollar spend on our online or PS2 marketing strategy - Former EA CEO John Riccitello) 2. Giving tons of games console exclusive content (more towards the Sony side,) thereby giving owners of competing systems a gimped edition of their games.

This is just my opinion. The worst thing they have done is buy Westwood Studios (makers of Command & Conquer) then shut them down. It’s not that the EA produced C&C games are bad (Tiberium Twilight being the exception) it’s that EA buys up incredibly talented studios, then gives them insane sales projections. If this title in C&C doesn’t sell 4 million copies we’re going to shutter the studio, retire the franchise and put the programmers to work on Madden or FIFA or lay them off.

Visceral Games wasn't acquired by EA. They were founded as EA Redwood Shores. Regardless still one of my favorite studios. Whether it be The Simpsons Game, The Godfather, Dante's Inferno or of course Dead Space. Very sad to see them gone.

EA burned me when they bought and closed the Gamestorm service, which was a monthly online service that cost $10 bucks a month for online play for a dozen or so games. This during the time when online play was usually charges hourly. All to direct subscribers to... Asherons Call. What a load of crap.

This culture is definitely not something specific to EA, especially larger corporations have a bad habbit of expecting the above and beyond as the norm, giving no praise or even acknowledgement when people do go above and beyond, but slamming and abusing people for doing what is supposed to be their job. EA is definitely an exaggeration of all these things though and it's disgusting, people (customers AND employees) deserve to be treated with respect regardless of who they are or who they work for.

It was the online pass when all publishers ran with it that was my final straw with consoles. After this I fully converted to pc. not only did you have to pay a charge to play online, if you bought a 2nd hand game you had to pay extra to play online despite already paying Microsoft and the ISP to play online. maybe its just that the prices in america are different.... but when i remember my teens,.. (1991 and up)... the aaa titles cost 120-130DM... toady they are on the shelf for 60-70€.... that the same price even ignoring inflation... so games got cheeper,.. but sadly the quality is now worse too

I know you probably won't, it'd probably get you blacklisted by them, but I'd love to see similar lists for other AAA devs/publishers. We can't let people forget stuff like Activision firing hundreds after making more money than ever, or the abuse and covering of such abuse by the higher ups at Ubisoft.

It startet at 1:00 but then it takes a long time to come to the point....jumping between games instead of staying at the actual point....switching between games and mechanics....try to not jump between everything and just say how it is.example - dungeon keeper....it has nothing to do with the original,pay to win.....short and quick,i think it would be much better than all these facts and own opinions. xD

Why EA waiting til end of times to do EA Replay 2 and the compilation must have all Strike games and Road Rash games is mental thinking coz only 1,000 people if that might survive after Workd War 3 then meteorites come crashing down and Sun & Moon collides and then Would flipped upside down so it makes common sense for em to release All classics now/today not after all them disasters happening same goes for SEGA and Nintendo holding back on releasing games for same reason as EA.. it's stupid innit coz wit the tax money they make it could go on more rockets to be able to go war with meteorites and Sun & Moon and other planets that pose a threat to planet Earth
