Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0, Resi 7, Nier Automata, Persona 5, Tokyo Xanadu, Yakuza Kiwami, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, Middle Earth: Shadow of War, A Hat in Time, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Tokyo Xanadu eX+ and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, so that year alone does not deserve to be on this list. 2003 other than Jak II, The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King and Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, yep I agree. Weak year. 1999 - not a weak year off the strength of Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Stadium 2, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, Pokemon Pinball, Soulcaliber, Crash Team Racing, Dead or Alive 2, Pokemon Yellow, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, Gran Turismo 2. Though I understand why it was classified as a bad year. 2015 - one of the weakest years ever. Other than a few remasters (big deal), Fallout 4 (also remarkably mediocre) The Witcher 3, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel and Bloodbourne there weren't any good games. 2021 - Nope don't agree. It has been a great year for games. Scott Pilgrim vs The World re-release, Atelier Ryza 2, Disgaea 6, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, Little Nightmares II, Persona 5 Strikers, Bravely Default II, It Takes Two, Oddworld Soulstorm, Nier Replicant remake, New Pokemon Snap, Returnal, Resident Evil 8, Shin Megami Tensei III Remastered, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Scarlet Nexus, Life is Strange: True Colours, Lost Judgement, The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki and Tales of Arise. That alone makes it a very deep year in gaming. 2011 - Little Big Planet 2, Mass Effect 2, Ys I & II Chronicles, Yakuza 4, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in The Sky, InFamous 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, Atelier Totori, Batman: Arkham City, Ratchet & Clank: All-4-One, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3. Definitely not a bad year. 1976 - yep agreed, weak year. 2014 - Bravely Default, The Last of Us: Remastered, Conception II: Children of The Seven Stars, Oddworld: New 'N Tasty, Tales of Xillia 2, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Bayonetta 2, Tales of Hearts R, Pokemon Omega Ruby & Sapphire. Not a great year or a bad year. Just average. 2020 - It was a shit year for everyone. But it wasn't a weak year for gaming by any means. Yakuza: Like A Dragon, Bayonetta Remastered, Vanquished Remastered, Langrisser I & II remastered, Ori & The Will of The Wisps, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III (Windows release), Persona 5 Royal, Resident Evil 3, Sakura Wars, Phantasy Star Online 2, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Persona 4 Golden (PC), Catherine Full Body, Ghost of Tsushima, Cuphead (PS4), Destroy All Humans! Remake, The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki (Japan), Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 Remake, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV, Astrobot's Playroom, Bugsnax, Demon's Souls, Sackboy A Bid Adventure, Katamari Damacy Reroll, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Off the catalogue alone this is a deep year. 1982 - yep agreed. Overall though? It feels like whoever wrote this script didn't do enough research.

Those “video game crashes” mentioned in these kinds of videos fail to mention that they only affected America and were solely localised to North America. Europe and Asia were churning out games consoles and games like usual throughout those periods, and those “crashes” certainly did not have the potential to “ending the video games industry forever.”

2017: BoTW, Persona 5, DoS2, Automata, Nioh, Mario Odyssey, Horizon, Cuphead, Sonic Mania, Resi 7, Prey 2020: TLOU2, GoT, FF7 remake, THPS 1+2, Crash 4, SoR4, Hades, Doom Eternal, Wasteland 3, Yakuza Like A Dragon, Demons Souls remake,. Yeah, no way are they two of the worst years.

1999?!?! That's absurd, we got Soul Calibur, Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, Final Fantasy VIII, Sonic Adventure, Donkey Kong 64, the original 2k sports games, the list goes on and on, '99 is one of the best years ever not one of the worst.

2020 gave us amazing indie stuff. Risk of Rain 2 got launched, for one, and that's one of the best games ever made

I'm sure someone has already mentioned it, but Super Mario Bros. only came out in 1985 even in Japan - it wasn't a launch title there, it came out over 2 years after the system came out. The original Mario Bros. arcade game did come out in 83, but that's a completely different game.

To be honest, the issue with this list is that every year pre 2014 is good by comparison. With the exception of 2018.

Here in the UK, not only did we negate the effects of the crash, but the gaming industry actually thrived in 1982 and 1983. 1982 saw the release of the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64, bringing with them an affordable way for people to learn to code their own games from the comfort of their bedrooms, with enough power and memory to make truly remarkable titles that stood toe to toe with games made from professional game devs.

2015 was the being of dark times

I mean, in that year alone we got Resident Evil 3, Final Fantasy VIII, Chrono Cross, Shenmue, Harvest Moon 64, Crazy Taxi, Everquest, Dino Crisis, Street Fighter III, Ape Escape, Jet Force Gemini, Syphon Filter, the original Medal of Honor, the original Super Smash Bros, Silent Hill and Donkey Kong 64! There really were quite a few good games released that year, no matter what genre you were a fan of.

With that port of the original Tomb Raider game on the N-Gage for 2003, I'm slightly surprised you didn't mention the repeatedly-delayed-but-still-rushed Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, which was such a flop that it actually killed the company who created Tomb Raider and Lara Croft, Core Design.

Sidenote about 2020 but many people in the FGC/SBC(Fighting Game Community/ Smash Bros Community) were outed as sexual predators & one of our most prominent tournament series was tainted and cancelled as a result. Leffen brought up a good point about how that helped clean up our communities of nefarious elements but the stink revelation of such things lingering in said communities was a heavy blow in a heavy year. 2021 is, imo, saved by Halo Infinite. It has a lot of little issues, but I hadn't had so much fun playing almost anything online in many years

I was expecting the year I was born - 1984 - to come first. And it wasn't even listed! That was the limbo year between the '83 Crash and the NES American release in '85. Even though Famicom was doing well in Japan and ZX Spectrum in the UK, one can't name a single remarkable console game from that year. Excitebike and Golf are not Super Mario Bros, Metroid or Zelda. Even if you strecht that including computer games, you'll only find niche classics, such as Elite, MULE, Seven Cities of Gold or Jet Set Willy.

2015 was also the year Nvidia was first slapped with class-action lawsuit over GTX 970 memory issues. Advertising 4 GB cards with only 3.5 GB of usable fast ram that took a significant performance hit once the remaining 0.5 GB of slow memory over the 3.5 GB limit were put into use. And the year the terrible games Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, Alone in the Dark: Illumination and Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival/Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer were released.

2022 is the worst for me

I don't care how much you hate microtransactions, but 2011 is one of the best years in all of gaming. How are you going to say a year that had Batman Arkham City, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Mario Kart 7, Zelda Skyward Sword, Mario 3D World, Saints Row 3, Portal 2, Modern Warfare 3, Rayman Origins, Deus Ex HR, Little Big Planet 3, Infamous 2, Resistance 3, Dead Space 2, Witcher 2, Mortal Kombat and more one of the worst years in gaming.
