More so Vince, you gotta respect what he’s done for the business but I think it’s time for him to step aside. I really believe WWE is going to be phenomenal under Triple H.
Andre Bryant NXT is past its prime already. Vince called up a bunch of people who either weren’t ready or should have just come to main roster. Ruining any momentum they ever had in NXT. Look at the Ascension, Revival, and Sanity. Also don’t even compare TNA and WWE. They aren’t even comparable.
@Andre Bryant you aren't wrong partially with saying it hasnt made too many "superstars" but you couldnt be more wrong with down talkiing nxt wresters. NXT has allowed for some of the greatest wrestlers in the world today to compete in wwe. Ciampa,Gargano, black, Cole, Joe, Shinsuke, Sami, Owens, Ricochet, Balor, Roode, Neville, Dream, Andrade,and Rollins to name some are fantastic Wrestlers in all of wrestling and all could main event any show and put on a fantastic match
Well, it's very hard for people to remember that one when it had to share the night with Triple H vs Taker (HIAC) and Rock vs Cena 1. But yes, I believe strongly that Punk vs Jericho was the second best match of the night. Even Jericho talks about it being underrated. Punk and Jericho had great chemistry, and an overall phenomenal feud.

HockeyDood 33 That was one of those feuds that got me back into wrestling. I remember seeing Jericho smashing a bottle of alcohol over Punk’s head in the build up for that match
I don't think Angle/Benoit from WM17 gets overlooked. Surprisingly, the match that gets overlooked the most on WM17 is Triple H vs. Undertaker. It gets lost in the shuffle of the main event, the TLC match, the Shane/Vince street fight, and Angle/Benoit.
Angle vs Benoit vs Jericho two fall triple threat for the Intercontinental and European Championships at Wrestlemania 2000. Obviously the Benoit factor means it's always going to be overlooked by WWE, but even in fan circles it gets overlooked in favour of the singles match with Angle at X-Seven and the main event at XX. It's comfortably the best match of Wrestlemania 2000.
@@tomytatopom5283 I like the ladder match a lot but with hindsight it's a dry run for TLC. Some great spots, although Jeff nearly missing Bubba with the swanton still makes me wince. The triple threat is just a really good wrestling match that tells a really good story, something that show was sorely lacking in.
I haven't watched wrestling for years so i don't really remember much. Was that the IC title match where they both sort of tease turning heel? Piper giving promos about Brett's making sandwiches?
Did you just call Big show vs Floyd Mayweather Atrocious!? I personally think it is one of best celebrity matches. But I might be biased for Wrestlemania XXIV
Agreed. It didn't have much action, but it had match psychology and a story. Floyd did good heel work and the crowd went nuts whenever Show was able to get his hands on him.
WhatCulture the main events around a year ago while Cultaholic ranked the overall Wrestlemanias. The two seem to try not to copy each other's material too much.
Taker and Nash at WM12 had the most underrated WM build ever, too. A lot of the supernatural mind games we associate with Taker today started here. Shame it gets overlooked.
MVP vs. Chris Benoit from WM 23. Shame such a good much and career performance from MVP had to be glossed over thanks to what happened a few months later. Also it feels like people have already forgotten about Becky vs. Charlotte vs. Sasha from WM 32. Y'know, the one to crown the first ever women's champion in nearly a decade?
@@SolidLies07 Hasn't felt like it. I mean at the time it was a big deal. The best match on a lackluster Mania. But it's sorta faded with Sasha falling down the ranks, Ronda claiming the spotlight, and Becky reinventing herself since. Kind of a then and now situation.
Another classic from Mania 25, Jericho vs Steamboat, Piper and Snuka. Jericho was the perfect character for something like this, and while Snuka and Piper didn't provide any athleticism, the Steamboat portion was just fantastic. It showed that he still had it after what, like 15 years away from the ring, and had the crowd in the palm of his hand.
There were a couple of matches that came to mind before I watched and I am surprised at least one of them was not on this list. That match being Roddy Piper vs Bret Hart for the IC title at Mania 8. Everything about that match was great and knowing now that apparently that was the first time that Piper was pinned, makes it even more special. Another match that I don't think anyone even remembers is an upstart in the company Mr. Perfect vs The Blue Blazer at Mania 5. Perfect was so good and watching Owen do what he was doing in 1989 shows that he was so ahead of his time. I know it was a World title match but Eddie vs Kurt Angle at Mania 20 was great. Another match that popped into my head was Shawn vs El Matatdor at Mania 8, also from Mania 8 the match right after Jake vs Undertaker. After the mess that taker had the year before with Snuka, this was pretty good!
One that certainly gets overlooked is TAKA Michinoku vs. Aguila for the WWE Light Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 14. Puroesu vs. Lucha Libre at the "Showcase of the Immortals." Beautiful back and forth action. So thrilling to watch those two work.
Wrestlemania VIII, Intercontinental Championship, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper vs. Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Shockingly great match, tons of technical wrestling, and the synergy between Piper and Hart was top-notch. I'm honestly surprised this one isn't talked about more.
For a few years there, The Steiner Brothers were the best tag-team on the planet. Watch any WWF match of theirs, they're light years ahead of their competition.
My top for the overlooked matches Wrestlemania 16: Benoit vs Angle vs Jericho Wrestlemania 17: Angle vs Benoit Wrestlemania 19: Michaels vs Jericho Wrestlwmania 21 : Taker vs Orton/ Michaels vs Angle.
Seth Rollins vs Randy Orton at WM31 was a real hidden gem in one of the decades stronger mania cards. Fantastic storytelling after almost a year long build up & finishing with the coolest RKO ever. One of the few times I’ve enjoyed Orton as a babyface
If you’re talking WM25, I expected the Ricky Steamboat vs Jericho portion of the Legend’s elimination match. The Hardyz match was good, but Steamboat absolutely killed it in this match, and while it got praise in the immediate aftermath, it’s been largely forgotten in the long run.
Saw Christian v. Jericho in person. Someone else finally said it. While this match may have been buried in the midcard, it was beautiful to see. Glad that someone else appreciates what a hidden gem it was.
Good list I'd would have had flair taker in there and probably take rude warrior out for Finley vs jbl I remember really enjoying Benoit vs MVP at 23 too
Orton's clashes with Taker and Rollins deserve a mention. Plus i don't know if they fill in this category but i think the world title matches from WM 23 maybe are good honorable mentions because they are forgotten in the years.
matt hardy vs rey mysterio wrestlemania 19. It is quite Epic for Classic Good Crusierwieght high flyer vs Dirty Champ with sidekick. Matt and Shannon did everything to sell out for making Rey look awesome and bring the audience to cheer up Rey. Less than 10 minutes match for undercard, but epic reception from audience
Piper VS Brett, WM 8. The prematch promo between the two is hilarious plus the fact its face against face with Piper reverting to heelish tactics and the first showing of the Bret sleeper reversal pin using the corner post. Plus there is the effective use of colour at a time when that just didn't happen in WWF.
One match I feel is completely overlooked is The Steiner Brothers Vs. The Headshrinkers from WrestleMania IX. It's a damn good tag team match, and easily the best match at WrestleMania IX.
20 seconds in and Mayweather vs. Big Show is referred to as "atrocious and ridiculous"... what the hell? That match was tons of fun, one of the best celeb matches in WWE history.
I think the first Kane vs. Undertaker match (the one from WMXIV) was very underrated and usually gets overlooked in favor of UT's later matches. In fact, I think a lot of matches on WMXIV are overlooked because the main event was so important. The New Age Outlaws had a very entertaining dumpster match with Cactus Jack and Terry Funk. HHH and Owen Hart had a good match as well.
#11 - The Rockers vs The Twin Towers: Wrestlemania 5. If the brutes vs. the high flyers was a winning formula for WM7, then this is the match that set the mold but wasn't quite as good. Featuring the athleticism that you'd come to expect from the Rockers and the high impact moves you'd expect from BossMan and One Man Gang (including a very devastating power bomb before those were a huge thing), this one is a classic that I'll always love
I was there at 27 and cody and rey were just great. There's a point where cody has rey up for a suplex and you can just see everyone taking pictures of it. It felt like he had him in the air forever
Both Multi Man Ladder matches for the Intercontinental Championship could somewhat count as underrated since it could of been perfect for Wrestlemania signature match
I loved Undertaker vs Kane at XIV. It was their first ever meeting and the story was so epic, it overcame the fact they had shaky ring chemistry at that point. Also, Charlotte vs Asuka last year.
Random point but the picture you used for rude and warrier at summerslam was actually from their world title match over a year later in 90, not their Ic title rematch st summerslam 89.
Rude vs Warrior was absolutely brilliant. Even though i am not a fan of Hellwig, these two's chemistry was second only by Sting and Warrior, back in AWA .. Rude was a fantastic worker and Warrior's only talent besides running and shaking the ropes was storytelling. And boy did they used that in the ring! In fact, i'm going to fire up WM5 to watch this match again.. :)
How in the world did Roddy Piper vs Adrian Adonis from WrestleMania 3 not make this list? You had the drama of Piper's "retirement", Adonis was absolutely brilliant, and Jimmy Hart was never better outside of Memphis than he was in that match. I genuinely enjoy rewatching that one more than I do Savage vs Steamboat. Obviously, the latter is the show stealer, but the ending of that one kills it for me, whereas the ending of Piper vs Adonis launched Brutus Beefcake's career as The Barber.
Bret Hart vs Owen Hart Wrestlemania X is one of the most overlooked matches since when ever someone talks about WM10 they always talk about Shawn vs Razor's ladder match. Also Bret v Owen doesn't get shown what much since most of Owen's matches are not shown in video packages due his death and unease or lack of relationship between Owen's wife and WWE
WM 3: Hart Foundation & Danny Davis v. British Bulldogs & Tito Santana: Obviously, with Hogan v. Andre and Steamboat v. Savage, just about everything else on the card was going to pale by comparison, but this was a fun six-man tag that told a great story of the faces wanting to beat the shit out of the former ref, only to have it cost them in the end. WM14: Cactus Jack & Chainsaw Charlie v. New Age Outlaws--Dumpster Match: This is an overlooked gem in the Mick Foley collection, as both he and Terry Funk bump their asses off to make the Outlaws look golden. WM 17: Kane v. Big Show v. Raven--Hardcore Match: WM17 is most known for McMahon v. McMahon, TLC2 and the classic Rock/Austin main event. But early in the card, Kane, Big Show and Raven had a very entertaining hardcore match that went all over the place backstage. It may have gotten silly at times, but it was good fun. WM 22: Cena v. HHH: With a show that included Edge spearing Foley through flames, Mysterio exploiting Eddie Guerrero's legacy to win the World Heavyweight Championship and Mickie hinting at cunnilingus, it's easy to see why the main event bot a bit overlooked, but it's a very good one, thanks largely to the Chicago crowd (of which I was one) displaying a genuine backlash against SuperCena, However, Cena earned my respect that night, as this was the first match in which he truly appeared to belong in the main event. WM 31: Seth Rollins v. Randy Orton: This match was overshadowed by Rollins going on to win the WWE title through a Mitb cash-in during the main event, but in and of itself it was a very good match, highlighted by Orton's reversal of the Head Stomp into an RKO.
Nobody overlooks that. Who have you been listening to/watching? Its pretty much generally considered a 4.5-5 star match and if its not in everyone's top 10 it's definitely in their top 20 Mania matches. That match totally doesn't fit the "forgotten, 3-3.5 star matches" criteria that the video follows.
That match isnt really overlooked, it might not be quite in the same area of popularity as micheals taker or savage steamboat but it certainly isnt underrated
From my POV, when people talk about WM19 they Rock v Austin III, Lesnar's botch or Hogan vs McMahon. I understand both guys have had better matches in their careers but, when people talk about the Michaels v Jericho feud their 2008 reignition (great ladder match) gets the glory while the classics in 2003 WM19 and the RAW rematch hardly get discussed.
@@chrismcsweeney553 damn, again I'm curious where you get your news from. People talk about Rock, Austin, Hogan and Lesnar a lot, so when independent discussing particular wrestlers sure it comes up. But from where I stand all I see is "match the night" praise. Thanks in large part to the deteriorating condition of Austin, the age limitations of Hogan-Vince, and Lesnar's botch in really doesn't have any competition. The feud in '08 was legendary. So good. But it's because of where Jericho was - the absolute peak of his career. Michaels' comeback year, particularly the run from Summerslam '02 to Mania 19, is well documented. I promise you, everyone knows it's a top tier Mania match.
