Seeeeee, you can’t stop corrections. It’s our inside joke and even YOU love it. 100 isn’t enough Seth! It helps everyone feel like a part of your crew, and love you even more..
Oh man! How did I miss that? Was waiting at nine pm like a kid with a deadbeat dad just hitting refresh, refresh, refresh, he’ll be here soon, refresh …..
It makes me so emotional to know Seth was as changed by the pandemic as we were and he loves Corrections and his RU-vid commenters as much as we love him. ❤🥺
Seth is an empathetic, curious, kind, funny, well-spoken person who is truly at his best when he is laughing kind of at someone or something and somehow everyone is ok with it and in ok the joke. It’s some sort of kindness-magic effect he has put in this whole production. I’ve seen normally super shy stars truly enjoying themselves and also the Nathan Lanes and Martin Shorts of the world having a fabulous stage for their huge personalities simply in seth’s interview. Seth: no notes.
On March 31 2020 I tweeted to the Seth Meyers account the fact that the attic bookshelf prominently included a copy of the Thorn Birds in hardcover. It seemed so unlikely to me -- that he would have read and kept a copy of that 1970s book -- that I had to comment. I don't know if that tweet of mine was the impetus for the whole Thorn Birds craziness that followed, but just hoping/thinking that it might be was honestly one of the things that helped get me through the early stages of the pandemic. So I don't know if I can factually take credit (or blame), but thinking it might be true is a lot of fun for me. The weird community that developed during that time was a godsend. And of course, go Corrections!
@@JeffRLord I am sure that Seth took note of your comment, decided to run with it by bringing in an ever-increasing number of copies, and then that inspired him to use the stuff around his in-laws' home, which brought us the Sea Captain, and the rest is history! Jeff, you are one of our nation's (The Jackal nation) heroes!
I don't think there was any indication he went there as a child. My understanding is that they must have shipped him off to impressions camp when they realized this dud couldn't do impressions. Now he's a well honed machine.
Seth is the only celebrity I feel like I know. He has such a kind energy at the same time as being THE funniest person on TV, and it’s broken down my barriers to parasocial connections. I love closer looks, I enjoy the guest interviews, and I treasure the comedy genius of corrections, which feels to me like the most hilarious and cosy piece of art on the internet. Through the pandemic, Seth maintained his warm connection with his audience like no other late night host. In times of great personal stress and anxiety, Seth was the friend I could call who would make me feel better. I’ve seen corrections straight through at least 5 times. Sitting with a family member in great physical and emotional pain, after talking them down from a ledge and singing them to sleep, I recently turned on a random corrections episode to calm down. It made me feel like a person again, and reminded me that the world has a lot of good in it, in a way that saccharine and trite inspiration porn or religious works have never done. You don’t know me, but if you’re reading this, thanks for being a friend.
Kudos to you for that. Finding hope and good in the world is so important for us all, as well as friends and family willing to talk others down from a ledge.
I used to this show to fill a void for late night comedy …but now I have become a regular RU-vid listener(corrections used to be the first thing I listen to every Friday morning on my way to work as a teacher )and the show helped me get through a lot of hard times in my life and I’m very appreciative for this show
Oh, ok I also used to listen to corrections and then I wised up and started sitting down to watch it. It’s mostly sight gags and Seth’s exasperated looks that make me laugh… but imagine now you have 100 episodes to watch!!
@@canadianhappyinitalytruest6556 the crazy thing is corrections. I’m caught up on because I stay consistently watching and waiting for corrections but when it comes to the regular show for me I wait till like 8 PM when it first popped up on RU-vid and catch it then.
I love this show so much. Watching this through the pandemic was one of the things that felt like an anchor in a storm. During the pandemic I was hit by a car and spent an inordinate amount of time doing monotonous physical therapy to rebuild my strength, and watching/listening to this show during my morning PT was my way of feeling a sense of normalcy in a very abnormal world.
I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate Seth. Closer Look helped get me through the pandemic and so much more. He's so funny and so cool to his jackals. The episodes where there was no crowd were my favorite, but all of it is good. Thank you Seth and the people who do this site. I've probably listened to every Closer Look at least 5 times each in the last 4 years.
I started watching Seth near the beginning of A Closer Look and would typically just watch that on YT the next day. Then the pandemic hit and his authenticity and general craziness shown through so much that I watched everything he put up on YT since. Especially Corrections. Especially especially Corrections. I'm an unashamed Jackal and each week of hiatus/vacation that Seth takes pains me since I'll miss so much joy throughout the week. Thank you so much for a quality show. Seth and his entire crew are the best!
For me that was Amber Ruffin, but I go through withdrawals if I don't get my closer look every week. I also look forward to the opening monologue, except for the very last bit where he explains that that was the monologue, he shouldn't have kept saying that every time. I watch John Oliver's main story too most weeks, and he's just as funny, but I've never seen a full episode. Even with SNL I only watch Weekend Update.
Seth, I'm 67, my daughter's are 27& 23, we are big fans, also fans of SNL. Me, an SNL fan from the beginning, I was 18, my girls have been raised with SNL and watch when it's on. As for Late Night, every damn show!! We love you Seth. Now, where's the Captain!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
Corrections has been on for 3 years. I can't believe it 😢 😲. Corrections has become a crucial part of the show. I don't know where I would be without it
“The amount of A-listers who wanna drink right now and the only thing stopping them is my liver.” 😂 I believe it! It’s both troubling and also CLASSIC comedy.
Another European who watches Seth first thing in the morning here, genuinely get most of my US news from the show and love how it’s sincere when it needs to be and silly when that’s needed too. I do hope shows like this continue to evolve in the streaming era, I pay for RU-vid Premium and a lot of the attraction is getting to see the best bits of this show every weekday morning. I would love if you did an uncensored version for us though!
Totally worth going to find pt. 2 of this (on the Late Night podcast). No pictures, but the voices are enough-and mesh well with the images in this video/doc. You'll get to hear from: Scollins, the pair of security guards...even Wally ! This helps me get through the sad jackal time until we get a new ep. of Late Night Seth.
This is so great! I love this show in general and I pretty much only see it on RU-vid. I'm an OTR trucker and I have very early mornings, so I always TOTALLY look forward to watching the previous night's "A Closer Look" (and all other segments) when I'm winding down after very long days of work. I even sing the theme song to myself in my truck!😅This whole team is amazing, thank you for all your hard work to make these insane times more tolerable!!
Congrats on 10 great years from Bogotá, Colombia! I’ve been watching since day one; it’s the first thing I watch every morning. Makes me happy and keeps me up to date. What more could you ask for? Thank you!
Congratulations on 10 years of Excellence! I toast you with my Jackals mug!! The full 35 seconds of Seth in the Rudy-glasses and teeth perfectly illustrates the shows willingness to do call-back after call-back on jokes that should die, but no. Every time the show goes on hiatus I feel like Frisbee with separation anxiety, waiting to see and hear a friend return. Black vs Lesbian... thanks for that, Fonzzy.
It might be predictable but here goes. You have a devoted fanbase, i am one of them and add my voice to that chorus. You are the best presenter, interviewer on late night, love the fact that you are intellectually very strong, a good person, funny both by skill and instinct and that makes your show better and always you share the limelight with your writers which meant that they are loved as you are. Thank you to you and your whole team for the program you bring. May you and your family as well as every single person on your team flourish and go from strength to strength. You all bring goodness in our homes. Thank you very much and best wishes.
I like how Shoemaker refers to Seth’s Jackals as “a certain contingent of fans”. We all really felt the same as Seth did about the show going back to a studio audience. I love what ACL has become with the help of Corrections. The circle created between Seth, his shows and his Jackals is making for something truly unique, amazing and incredibly entertaining to watch and really be a part of.
I live in Australia and Seth makes my day! First thing in the morning, youtube search and clutch a coffee while watching Seth. Thankyou for all the effort you and the team put in to produce this show. BTW if Seth needs a hand with his Australian accent let me know, it is currently fucking horrible mate!
Seth is a great story teller. He makes me laugh out loud instead of pulling my hair out over the insanity in our world today. Thank you Seth and to all who are involved with making the show.
Thanks for this behind-the-scenes history - totally supports my feeling that this group of people really like each other, and this is a real team of friends. Love the show and all you guys do!
Ever since I turned 40 many years ago I would DVR anything after 9pm. Weird sleep thing. It started with breaking bad coming on at 11 on a Sunday night. 🤦♂️ Now I wake up and watch LN, and a few others, in their entirety (the comedy bits for sure) as I make coffee/breakfast and it helps me start my day. And I started watching corrections about halfway through and don't feel like I've really missed out. Interacting with snarky internet people/trolls can be quite hilarious. 😂 Love you guys! Cheers! 🥂
This was great and I’d love to see more. Like a series of retrospective videos focusing on all the recurring segments on LNSM. Exploring how they were developed, revisiting major moments in the histories of segments, etc. Really get a chance to dig into the craft that Seth, the writers and crew all put into the show.
Seth is an amazing human being and it’s such a pleasure to watch him given a chance to do what he loves to do with this amazing team ❤ I can’t wait to see him and John Oliver in New York next month ❤❤❤
I missed not seeing the evolution of Seth doing the monologue from his desk. Forgot it was on a Thursday but I will never forget that that Thursday with Craig Ferguson telling him to do what makes him comfortable was like Craig passing the baton to be his best original self for the late night audience that has always been up for the late shows. That is when I said “oh, ya. Seth will be fine now. Bring it on”. Is a possible Ferguson guest appearance soon also in the works?
This was such a great listen. Been a longtime fan of the Late Night franchise since Conan and it's been awesome getting to watch the evolution of Seth's show over the years. He and the team have carried the mantle admirably.
I discovered the show on RU-vid during Pandemic. I have to go to bed at night because I have a job and start work 7:30 AM. So I rarely watched late night shows. So glad I started. Yeah, love that Sea Captain & all!
I'm very glad you produced this, we always know there is more people in the background then Seth's face and smile that make the show. I've watched this show because it's not an AsshXle type Late night show. It always seemed about making everyone at ease, no mater our differences. I'm also glad of the work environment. because again it goes to show with the right management everyone can do their job and LOVE it too. Here's to another 10 years of you all loving what you are doing, CHEERS everyone!!!
Late Night With Seth Meyers has been a great format for Seth, who has whatever "it" is, that unquantifiable quality that connects through a screen, across an audience. Congratulations, Felicitations, and many thanks for the dedication to the work.
OMG it's been 10 years? I don't know what I would have done if you weren't there to laugh at the absurdities of life with me. Thanks for always being there helping me hold it together. 💜
I love this so much! Thank you all for your work, and for putting this together. It explains so much about why this really is the best version of a Late Night show in the history of late night shows! Here's to 10 more!
I never thought I would sit through a "brief" (Fifty minutes?! NOT!!) oral history of Late Night with Seth Meyers. The Late Nighters talking over a series of still photos? Ho-hum. But I did and it was really fun! Happy 10, Seth and peeps!
This is so interesting. thank you so much! I'm listening to this while I'm making dinner and I just happened to look up at the screen and saw Seth with the glasses and teeth and just burst out laughing. We are so lucky to have Seth ❤❤❤
Possibly the “best” late-night band working since Max Weinberg or maybe Jon Batiste…and the Late Night (Meyers) theme music from the end credits is an absolutely lovely piece.
I know she's no longer with the show, but I loved the hell out of Michelle Wolf as adult Orphan Annie. That was gold. And Corrections is absolute genius. I'm only an honorary jackal though.
