I quit drinking coffee on the 5th of December 2021. It's been over 100 days since I quit now, and I'm experiencing a lot of benefits.
This video is for you if:
- you're also thinking of quitting coffee
- you've just quit coffee and need the motivation to get through withdrawals
- you've already quit coffee for a long time

Sleep improvement is the BEST result of quitting coffee... I'd recommend reading "Why We Sleep" book. Congrats on quitting the no 1 drug!

I've replaced my morning coffee with a cold shower, that'll give you a jolt! And it leaves the benefits of waking up slowly intact. I wouldn't have dreamed of meditating after my coffee, so I had my coffee after, but after a cold shower you're both awake and calm enough to start working or go for your walk as you prefer, in my experience.
@foodlogged8632
@foodlogged8632 2 года назад
I used to take cold showers for 5 years every morning. But then at a certain point I couldn't warm up again after them, and I would be cold the entire morning. Now I just keep them for summer.

Personally seeing someone high on coffee is not what I want to see when I'm on youtube. The person who thinks it's the perfect pre youtube video drink is just being motivated by the reward that the dopamine boost from the coffee gives them. As you observed, the only thing that really happens is you get more rambly. It might feel good inside, but it doesn't look good from the outside. Kind of like how coffee and any stimulants make you feel more productive and even like you're producing better work.. It's not true. You're just being rewarded by the dopamine which makes everything feel great.
@foodlogged8632

It's indeed funny to see people drink it in real life and then just start rambling about everything.

I can relate to this entire video! I had to stop drinking coffee because I had a bad ulcerative colitis flare. So much bleeding and weight loss. Was constantly going to the bathroom. So I stopped drinking coffee for a little over a month, and although I was sick, I started noticing that I stopped caring about small things. Then I remember I finally had a tiny sip of espresso and wow, I felt so alive! But just that one cup and maybe once on the weekend with family. That's the point where my colon started to heal. So I remember early this month, I drank one shot of espresso and holy moly I didn't realize how strong coffee really was! I was only drinking on the weekend at this point. But now currently, I'm not drinking at all and I feel very balanced, like you said, 80% through the whole day. I don't get bad anxiety like I used to, and I can brush off small problems quite easily. I feel pretty good like this. Exercise is what makes me feel good now, I feel happy after exercising. Before, the coffee would mask the benefits of exercising. Now I feel it! I never thought I could live without coffee, and here I am. But it helps with my colon so much. On the weekends that I did have coffee, it would speed up my colon and I think I need to keep healing before I can do coffee again occasionally. I think coffee is quite alright once in a while, but when it's a habit, that's where the problem is. But people don't see coffee that way, but the truth is that it's a drug plain and simple.
@foodlogged8632
@foodlogged8632 2 года назад

You’re the first youtuber who is explaining correctly what symptoms I have when I’m drinking coffee. Im although addicted to it lol and lot of people are. Coffee is a drug and a herbal plant as well.We shouldn’t drink it every day. It’s changing our consciousness the way we are addicted to it. I although would like to put it down because I have a negative feeling every day about it that my mood depending on something. And yes not talking about the sleep. Last month I did a three day water fast and it was so good just letting myself from the demon of the food society🥲

Thanks! While drinking coffee I also thought that I couldn't live without it, and that life would never be the same without coffee. Now that I've stopped drinking it, life is better and I don't even want to drink coffee anymore. My girlfriend had the same experience. Now your experience might differ, but I recommend you quit it for 30 days, and see if you like life better with or without it.

It's great that you mentioned the water fast. I use WARM WATER the whole day. It gives you a stuffed feeling. Even if you stop eating in the evening from the day before and don't eat till 5pm, you will stop the addiction to a lot of things, for example to candy, coffee etc. I often use this 1 day strategy to get rid of addictions for a long time. Besides coffee increases tension inside and makes nervous, that gives a feeling of anxiety. Even Yogis mention this and the negative effects on our consciousness (and I got this warm water trick from them :).

I have had some milk chocolate along the way, esp during christmas time when we got them as gifts but I don’t think that affected me as much. I want to hit 2 years and see how I feel after. I would only use caffeine as a tool, like if I were to do a long drive, I would get a coke only if I needed to stay awake. I quit coffee for 3,5 months, the withrawal symptoms were awful the first 3 weeks. I couldn't sleep, headache, no energy and felt sick it was horrible. After 3 weeks I felt fine and quickly realised I didn't need coffee to feel energic. The biggest difference was that I felt moderate energy throughout the days under these 3,5 months instead of the lows and highs I had when drinking coffee. I also didn't need to go to the toilet as often. My sleep didn't change at all, I slept just as well with coffee as without. After 3,5 months without any coffe or caffeine my depression and anxiety was getting really bad so I just decided to take a cup of coffe...It IMMEDIATLY made me feel really good and the anxiety went away, I went back to drinking 2-3 cups of coffee again and now I feel so much better. Pros of no coffe for me: More balance energy throughout the days, less toilet visits. Cons of no coffe for me: More anxiety and depression, no highs of energy or focus when needed, Can't enjoy my favorite drink. I don't regret quitting coffee to get the feel of how it is without it but I sure as hell will keep drinking it for the rest of my life because life is just better with it.
@chrdestruction

In 3 weeks without now and ye I feel depression increasing and no real energy alike that I'm used to. I'm wondering if quitting is the best thing to do for everyone or not. Sounds like the pros of quitting don't outweigh the cons for people with existing mental conditions. I have ADHD, so it's a stimulant that I've grown used to.

This was a great video!! Yes been about a month since I quit coffee and although I am drinking green tea and way less anxiety I have definitely noticed that I am making better decisions. I am shocked how much coffee clouded my decision making ability. Wow. I don't have a problem with green tea as the caffeine is significantly less but I think the acids of coffee and other stuff in it that was harming me. I had gotten up to 2-4 cups a day!! I definitely plan to continue this path I am already feeling better even though I have days of low productivity but I know it will keep getting better as my adrenals heal. One other thing I noticed.. when I decided to quit I have seemed to come join this no-coffee community of folks who have all recently quit in the last year or so it's kinda cool.. I was meditating and that is how I noticed my body started rejecting it, was totally weird. So here I am. My skin is looking better and yes deeper sleep. Congrats on your new house!!

I did and do wake up VERY tired and my sleep amount has not improved much but it does seem to be a deeper sleep. I think my teeth are a bit whiter. But I always used to rinse them with water after each coffee. So I don't see a big difference. Try doing this with a job where you have to stay awake a lot, and you didnt have much time to sleep before it. Let me guess, you dont live a lifestyle like that, so you can achieve this. I rarely drink energy drinks now, and coffee never. But sometimes there are nights when i couldn't sleep well, and i simply know i need caffein or something to survive the next day, or gg, i will asleep around 11:00 o clock.

If you strategically can use coffee to stay awake for your job instead of just drinking it out of habit like most people, that's great. In the end you want coffee to add more to your life than it takes. And in my case it was taking more than it gave back.
