Bolt running 9.77 into a headwind of -1.7m/s under atrocious conditions and with a reaction time of .223s is probably the greatest feat ever achieved in 100m history. He could have easily gone under 9.6 with an average reaction time of .150 and a positive tailwind of +1.2m/s
*This is the fastest 100m of all time.* If you adjust this race to 0.1 seconds reaction time for Bolt, he runs 9.647. If you then change the wind to 0.0m/s, he runs a time of 9.58. If you do the same thing to his ACTUAL 9.58 performance from Berlin, 2009 (going from +0.9m/s wind to 0.0m/s, and changing his reaction time from 0.146 seconds to 0.1 seconds), you ALSO get 9.58. So this race is AS fast as his 9.58 run, and it was also run in HORRIBLE conditions; the track was really wet. Obviously there's no way to convert the times run on a wet track to a dry track, but it's safe to say that he would've run faster than 9.58 if it WERE a dry track.
Your maths is failing you my guy, wind speed is not the speed of the sprinter. It doesn't have that big an impact. Besides, 0.1 seconds reaction is ridiculous, 0.13 would already be amazing.
@@razor_ramon_ Yeah and also Fred Kerley didn't stumble, had a better reaction time still, no rain, very warm, 1.8 tailwind. If Fred ran with these conditions and with such RT, he would struggle to crack 10 seconds and so would the top sprinters right now. Bolt, Powell, Gay, Gatlin, Blake were on another level and even Coleman cause this man ran 9.79 -0.3 0.165 RT after some injuries in 2018.
@@BreezyVisualEffects even if the wind by itself was +2, itd already be faster than 9.65, not to mention good weather and a better reaction time with no stumble
Don’t think these nowadays athletes can pack stadiums like this anymore, simply amazing! The man almost fell and still won easing up at the line SMDH what an athlete!!
@shanegill5091 if Asafa Powell had even the confidence of Justin Gatlin, he would have been challenging Bolt at every major championship. Possibly winning some as well.
Powell is being ripped in the comments here but he ran an UNREAL time and race. Bolt won and does have the world record true, he’s the best hands down, but Powell is literally right there with him. He’s run sun 10 seconds over a hundred times, carried the world record and has some of the fastest recorded times ever in the 100m and 200m
And 200?? I agree that powell is the sub 10 king when it comes to the 100 and the 4th fastest man of all time in the event but a pb of 19.9 in the 200 is nowhere near the fastest time in that event.
+Omphemetse Mashaba 2008 was definitely his best ever season. he could run 9.75 in every race. no other season has really lived up to that. to think he had a less than normal season in 2009 but still break the records is remarkable.
Wait.. And that was run in atrocious conditions!! If there was sun it would have been close to 9.50 with a 2.0m/s wind.. This is the fastest both have ever run in terms of worth
Gerald Aliseni I don’t know what they would have run but had it been perfect conditions bolt would’ve probably gotten another mr. 9.58 they were both flying in that wet track
In all my years of watching track, i have never seen someone separate himself so easy from the field in the first 50 meters...then get caught at the tape..Asafa Powell, man has the best start, hands down, ever in the 100 meters. Can't understand how this guy looses so many races.
Yeah I don't think he train hard enough. I saw him training and he was throwing up loads of froth from the mouth, and I know the guy those not do enough foundation work.
Wasn’t his reaction time like 0.23? That means it would of only taken a 1.5 to run a 9.6. This race is really incredible because there was a -1 headwind plus it was raining. Without these problems would this have been a 9.5?? It’s no different for asafa Powell when you think about it because this could of been a 9.74 without the wind and rain
If Powell had trained in the 200m the same way SAFP did, Jamaica would have a guaranteed 1,2 in every race they enter together. Powell rested on his laurels and thought perfect techniques and a fast start would always see him through. Times have changed. No one is seeing that podium without great starts, tremendous top end speed at greater than average endurance. 2 out of 3 isn't enough to cut it any more. Franno should have told him that.
You are sounding like as if Powell can't run fast because he simply can't. He is more than able to win races and olympic medals out there. The only thing that is not allowing him to be on the podium is himself. His mentality and his confidence.
9.70 for bolt zero wind powell 9.76 Powell need the energy to flow in the second phase bonded to tightly Would have improve his top end speed with more flow Close race
RAYDRA KING I’m no expert but he probably uses all his power at the gun and in the first half then runs out of fuel but 9.83 isn’t exactly slow third place finished in 10 lol
@@raydraking7941 yeah right I seen that. The Jamaican trials I was so annoyed at him. He literally was destroying the field, both bolt and Blake them he literally stops running and let’s Blake beat him.
