Today I install the Merit Automation Chute controls on a 54" John Deere snowblower for the 1025r Merit Automation Snow Blower Chute Control ROCKER KIT: www.ebay.com/i... Circuit fuse adaptors: www.amazon.com...
Thanks for the kind words Russell. It’s greatly appreciated. I’ll have to check and see what else I can’t live without for the little work horse 1025r for add-ons. 👍🏼 Take Care
I appreciate your video, great job especially with the fusebox and the fuse adapter. I plan to do something similar. I have to do both my 1025R for home and my 3039R for my camp. I will try and record the second one because there aren't any detailed ones for that model. I am a visual learner and I found your video very helpful.
Thanks for the kind words and I am glad that the video helped. This is why I take the time to record these, in hopes it helps someone feel confident enough to tackle the install on their own and not have the dealer do it. 😁 I subscribed to your channel. I’m looking forward to the 3039R install video. 👍🏼Take Care.
Hey Brian, Thanks for stopping by to check out the video. Excellent !! You’re going all out this season. You will love how quiet the new box is compared to the rattly chain and sprockets. I myself am looking forward to trying out the chute control this winter. Enjoy and Take Care 👍🏼
Hey Brad, Thanks for stopping by the channel and for the kind words. Here’s the link where I bought my kit off Ebay. Merit Automation is the name of the company. www.ebay.com/itm/283654179271?hash=item420b1b49c7%3Ag%3AiBkAAOSw%7EuFdsyoW Take care and be safe 👍🏼
Great video. Your instruction is precise. I ordered what I thought was the same kit from Merit Automation, but it came with a toggle switch that doesn't snap nicely into place after the blank cap was removed. It will take quite a bit of fooling around to make the toggle that was included work. Maybe you sourced a switch from somewhere else? Your input is appreciated.
Hey Dan, Everything I had in the kit was sourced from the link I provided in the Description which had the rocker switch. I’m not sure which kit you purchased??
@@SometimeIsNow All good. I thought I ordered the same kit from Merit Automation. It just had a different toggle switch that doesn't snap right into the cutout. I'm going to see if I can source a paddle that will not require further modification. Probably going to the Deere dealer, but not my first choice.
@@DanHoffman-mf2qp Hey Dan, I believe this is what you are looking for. www.amazon.com/Tbrand-Momentary-Polarity-Reverse-reversing/dp/B08KD9SNH1/ref=sr_1_25?crid=2RJQAWFYWFL6J&keywords=Actuator+rocker+switch&qid=1673304605&sprefix=actuator+rocker+switch%2Caps%2C116&sr=8-25 Take Care
@@SometimeIsNow I believe you're 100% correct. Before I send $ to Amazon, I'm going to see if I can source it locally. Thank you sir! I really appreciate what you do!
In case anyone else with an X738 or similar is wondering... due to the fuse box cover the fuse jumper wire used in this video wouldn't work for me. Thank you for making the video.
Hey Jake, Excellent Information for someone without a 1025R that would like to hook up a chute control. Sorry the jumper wouldn’t work for you. What did you get to work for your tractor? Take Care
Hey Jake, I have an X739 on order that is supposed to be delivered next week and plan on adding this modification to the chute. Where is the fuse box located on the X700 series and did you end up connecting directly to the battery instead?
Hey Adam, Yes sir there's a quick connection plug.. Check out my updated Ultra Max actuator I just installed if you already haven't. It's plug and play.. 30 min install ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7xMNLEGC8hI.html Take Care 👍🏼
Nice video, thanks! But why does EVERYONE put the actuator on upside down? Gravity WILL pull water down the shaft and into the motor, period and then time to replace. If you live in a heavy snow climate this won't last more than a season. I do not care how much you think that seal is protecting it, water beats it! Put the motor end on top and run for YEARS without issue.
Hey Mike, Thanks for checking out the video. To answer your question, “EVERYONE” puts these actuators on the way the seller of these kits instructs us to do. See the comment string below started by (Mike from Clarke County) The inventor ( @72tx340 ) and seller of these kits with actuator responded to this.
Hello, I would be interested in installing this kit. You can go to my about page on my channel and click on business inquiry. There you’ll get access to my email. We’ll correspond there. Thanks for the opportunity. Greg
I have a question. I wired my merit automation kit like this and it worked the first time I used it and now I keep blowing the 5 amp fuse. When I change the fuse, my switch lights up but as soon as I hit the switch it blows the fuse again. I have tried about 5 different fuses with no luck. Any idea what I can try?
Hey Kip, Any time you are blowing fuses you have a pinched wire going to ground. Double check all your wiring again because you have something grounding out to pop a fuse as soon as you're hitting the button.
@@SometimeIsNow yes you have a short. You can safely go to a 10 amp fuse. Sometimes chutes move harder than others. If it blows the 10 amp fuse then you have a short. Does it blow a fuse without the actuator connected? If it doesn't then the actuator has a short. If it does then its in the wiring. The actuator has a 6 month warranty if it happens to be a problem with that.
So I started at the actuator and followed the wires back and it looks like the wires cracked and the black and red wires were touching. My guess is that was shorting it out. When I put a new fuse in when the tractor was completely dry, the actuator would work, but once I move the chute the wire must touch and blows the fuse. Does that make sense?
@@kipwachal6739 how far back were they cracked? Only the actuator has red and back wires. The wire that comes with the kit is white and black. Its outdoor rated.for very cold.and wet environments. kit is white and black.
