what a breath of fresh air! i've gotten sick and tired of professional, inauthentic car reviews, they all sound the same, boring and without soul... thanks for the great review, i wish there were more reviews like this around!
holy shit, man, 500k miles and still running great! I've been babying mine the same year and just reached 58k miles here. Glad to hear this will last me a lifetime
Treat it right and it will. Make sure you do all the necessary maintenance bruv and you in there. Updates will be coming soon. Just been busy. Thanks for watching! 😁
That's amazing man!. I had a 2016 ext with 128,000 for 5 years but it got totalled last year. I've had a 2017 touring now for 6 months and it's at 57,000 miles now. The 1.5T is a great engine. Both had the cvt trans though. I hope this will be the last car I own. There is a guy on the civic x forum who has 293,000 miles with the cvt.
Just watch out for oil dilution! With the 2017 & 2018 1.5L Honda GDI engines! Use ILSAC GF-6B (0W-16) if you encounter oil dilution since Scotty Kilmer says it works to solve the solution as much as possible and doing oil changes every 5,000 miles!!
@@SSW1FTT I think if oil dilution was a problem that engine would be shot by now. He’s changing oil every 7.5k miles and the engine has over 700k on it. Oil dilution isn’t a problem for him. The results speak for itself.
Awesome! To get 500k miles in just four years, you must be driving mostly good highway miles. My 2018 Civic EX-T automatic, bought new, June 2018 has 117,500 miles averaging 33.7 mpg (combined highway/city). I have not had any repairs in over four years except for a recent AC repair that fell under Honda warranty. I’m fanatical about maintenance and I never drive aggressive (rarely exceeded 4K rpm). Best vehicle I’ve ever owned (having owned previous Civics, Accords, Acura TL Type S) with regards to overall vehicle ownership and value. My goal is to hit 300,000 miles with no major repairs.
UPDATE: As of Dec 20, 2022 my 2018 Civic EXT, with the 1.5 liter, turbo, GDI, CVT has 128,700 trouble-free miles averaging 34.1 mpg. I’m fanatical about maintenance changing oil/filter EARLY every, 3,800-4,200 mile using the full synthetic 0W-20 oil and OEM filter. I only use top-tier Shell 93 Octane fuel (for the high detergent additives). After four and a half years, I spent over $7,500 in maintenance, with the most expensive maintenance work of replacing the water pump, drive belt, and PCV valve at 120,000 miles ($1,045).
GM, Chrysler, or Ford could never lol It’s just simple and pure Japanese engineering. I hope Honda and Toyota never stop making their cars like this. This is great to hear though because lots of people were doubting the turbo engines. No doubt you will see tons of 10th gen civic still moving around in 2030.
Wow I didn't know the 1.5 T Honda engine had a timing chain.....I'm here from your@ Scotty Killmer video. Thanks for posting I'm learning a lot through you I own 3 Civics. They're from the mid and late 90s and one from the early 2000s. It's always nice to learn about the newer ones. I like how you are dispelling some of the myths.thanks for posting.
Oh my goodness!!! That's more than 800000km!!! I Live in Brazil and I'm getting a 2021 Civic Touring with the 1.5 turbo next week. I'm coming from a Gen9 2014 2.0L Civic that I absolutely love (beautiful and reliable). But since I learned about the oil dilution issue with the 1.5 L turbo engine in some countries I got very worried and was considering choosing another car. So I tried to find cases of oil dilution here in Brazil and haven't found anything...not a single case. There are no complaints in brazillian car forums, RU-vid, car dealers and press in 5 years since Honda started selling the Touring model here. But this video just settled the matter: 2021 Civic Touring it is!!!
Daaaaaannnnggggg! I'm trying to get my Honda to that mileage! Lol. I'm at 153,000 miles. No major issues with my Honda. The funny thing is I had a 2012 Civic coupe, traded that in for a 2015 Accord Sport. My Accord has been my savior, along with rentals from the insurance company while my Genesis was in the shop. I love my Honda! BTW I got my Genesis back!!!!! 😃
Yeessss! When in doubt grab the Honda and ride it out!😁 How does the G70 feel having it back? I'm guessing mixed emotions throughout the entire process?
@@Imleocalm Yes, very mixed emotions. I'm scared to drive it to work, being that the intoxicated driver hit me after work. I also get these idiots that love to tailgate for no reason. I usually move over, but then they follow. I'm sooooo done with stupid drivers!!!! Other than that, I'm super happy to have it back. 🙂
I had a 17 civic hatch with the 6 Speed Manual. It got 49mpg on a long trip once. In 2017 6 MT was only available on the LX for hatchback models. I remember hearing the 6 MT was later added to the Touring hatchback near the end of the 10th gens run as manual take rate / demand was higher than anticipated.
I got the 2016 model. It was a pre-owned certified dealership buy with less than 30k miles on it. I wish I got the manual trans, but I think they only made that year with the automatic CVT transmission. Either way, I love my Civic.
I love this video mine is 2018 im at 147,000. I’ve had zero problems other than changing the battery once. Maintenance maintenance maintenance is all I can say.
@@Imleocalm the only mod I ever made which was recently was a rv6 catted downpipe and I kid you not it added some power to it. Very noticeable, something I’d recommend. You’ll enjoy your car a bit more. Just the downpipe and the k&n filter
535000 miles in 5 yrs, equivalent to 105k per year, or 290 miles daily. Did not take into account servicing, change tyres, etc. I couldn't brain how you did it. I conclude that you must be driving while sleeping.
I need your help on deciding whether or not i should take the Honda Plus extended warranty from Honda Canada, the cost was $2500 Canadian , the car i am looking to get is a 2020 Civic LX with the 2L N/A engine, the car has 74000 kms on it and drives really well and the cvt pickup is good with no unsual noise or shaking. Should I get the extended warranty as I have 60 days to decide whether or not to cancel or keep it. Please help.
How many miles/Years come with the extended warranty. Also what type of warranty. PowerTrain etc..? 74000km/45.9kms isn't bad. However every car has 60k miles/96.5 thousand km maintenance due. Know what that is first. Also, what do you intend to use the car for and how long do you plan to keep the car. The 2L Honda engines are typically VERY reliable. Ask if the warranty include any maintenance or if they offer it as an addition.
@@Imleocalm Thanks so much for taking the time and replying, i really appreciate it. The warranty covers parts and labor costs if anything happens to the car including electrical and mechanical components except the regular wear and tear items like brake pads, tires, wipers ect. The car was recently fully serviced before the sale as they gave me a service record for the vehicle. The cost of $2500 cad is based on 160 000kms or 7 years whichever comes first. Also the $2500 is based on an 84 months finance for the car which roughly cost an extra 11$ biweekly payment. I am planning to keep the car for at least 5-6 years as the car was a one owner and is in good condition. I also told the dealership to buff out the scatches on the car to bring it to as near showroom spec as possible.
Sounds like a decent setup! My sole recommendation is to keep up with the maintenence as best as possible (oil change, coolant flush, Transmission flush, Tune up, valve adjustment). Your welcome and good luck with everything! Thanks for watching! 😁
I had a 2016 4 door manual and they had to replace the head and gas cap actuator within the first year, got rid of it recently with 46,000 miles and I sure as shit never trusted it
@@kentruong8058 It depends on where you live and the quality of gas. To be safe I'll say every 150-200k miles (highway) 120-150k miles (mostly city). I changed my fuel filter for the first time at over 400k miles.
@@Imleocalm that makes much more sense, my last car was an 05 Element so I'm enjoying my Civic a lot. No burnouts or anything crazy but it's just a fun car when it's your everyday
