I have a 2017 civic ex - 200,000 miles just hit. I have done all regular maintenance. NEVER replaced my tires (still at a 3 I don’t know how), had both breaks done, rears twice, had issues w windshield wipers but that was repeatedly fixed free at Honda service, I have replaced my windshield due to severe pitting, and I just replaced my sway bars but I need to get my new tires and an alignment. But I disagree I think my girl is fast. She’s been up to 120 but I never have a problem especially driving in non eco mode. Only problems I’ve noticed are USB and Bluetooth issues and sometimes the parking break gets sticky.
I know deep inside ur soul u like the overall of the Type S better, ur just not admitting it LOL. The only thing the G70 have over the Type is slight faster 0-60, everything else is better on the Type S. I have a '23 Type S blak over blak
I have the exact same vehicle as yours but it uses a 1.6 litre diesel engine instead of gasoline. So far it’s a superb car and unbelievably economical. I hope I get the same mileage on it as you 😂 Great video bro thanks 🙏
Not sure you can base reliability of all small engine turbo cars based on a car that probably gets mostly highway miles. Perfect example is my wife’s and a friends car. They had the same car, same engine. My wife’s car got traded in at 50k miles and we think we should’ve kept it. Friend’s car ended up having catastrophic engine failure around same mileage. Again same car, same engine and similar types of driving. Time will tell, think we can look at Chevy 6.2 vs their 2.7 and see which one will last longer with less issues.
Bro my Honda fit 1.5L i4 from 07 has 383k on it. I had a Infiniti m45 before this a 4.5L v8 and the motor blew at 160k. I arguably took better care of that car than I have the fit. This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about
Scotty also says that highway miles are like 10 percent regular miles. If you have 700,000 miles you are clearly highway driving. That's about 70,000 miles. My accord with the same engine only got 200,000 miles before the turbo needed to be replaced. My old accord with the 2.4 got 500,000 regular miles without any issues. The 1.5 is reliable, but not as reliable as the old 2.4.
I was just at your local Honda dealership today and they told me about your car and your RU-vid channel. I think both the sales and service people are watching your videos. I think at 1 million miles, Honda will give you a new free car. Factor that into the costs it takes to maintain this one. Might be worth it.
I have 75k miles on my civic 2016, and already had to change the starter. It cost me 1500 😢 I also had to pay to get the electric brace fixed, it broke less than a month after the warranty expired lol
I think this engine is lasting this long BECAUSE you drive it FAR DISTANCES so the engine gets HOT enough for LONG enough to handle the oil dilution that is happening. Most people do not drive like you do, most of the time the engine doesn't get HOT enough for LONG enough. Great video though! 🙂
I got a 2016 Honda civic with a 1.5turbo and I have 200K miles I bought it brand new and it’s been a good care aside from a few electrical issues and bad low pressure fuel pump at 120K miles . I always use 87 octane and it gets between 33 and 35 mpg .
One funny thing I discovered is that the price of the G70 for leasing is higher than for other (better) cars. I just discovered you can get the Audi a5 or similar cars for 350-450€ per month while the g70 costs 580€ leasingrate. I think it's weird that the cheaper g70 has such bad leasing conditions.
Have you seen one of scotty kilmers videos where he reviewed a brand new honda civic with a 1.5 litre engine made in England? He said "Don't go saying, oh its a british honda I don't want that, the British make piles of junk. They're just putting them together there". In that video, he explained that the 1.5 litre engine was great, we'll just have to see how long it holds up over time! It was the similar thing with the Ford Mustang with the ecoboost engine he reviewed years ago, it was great, he said it was. Years later though... They had all kinds of problems, and he said he was wrong! I'm from the UK, and guess what? On The One Show on BBC in England, they've found our british made Ford ecoboost engines are bad too! And its costing people a fortune! @scottykilmer is not wrong!
I got the 2016 model. It was a pre-owned certified dealership buy with less than 30k miles on it. I wish I got the manual trans, but I think they only made that year with the automatic CVT transmission. Either way, I love my Civic.
Makes me happy to know it lasts this long, we had our 10th Gen since 2016 and the total distance travelled is only at 54k ( our distance to commute is really not thst far and we rarely do Long drives ) and we always have maintenance twice a year. Only had our AC changed and Break fluid compartment changed. That’s it. Oh and it does need engine cleaning every 7 years or so, we suffered from spontaneous engine shut down due to some dirt in the engine or something. After the cleaning, it was like brand new again.
i have a 2019. besides oil changes and tire rotations i haven’t done anything. I changed the battery. That’s it. Almost at 29,000 miles so low mileage vehicle. I also have extended Honda Care warranty, so I’m covered until 2026
