This lock: can open with bare hands Pickle jar: won't open no matter what This lock: opens with a little tick on the side Pickle jar: has an auto self destruct if you hit it too hard This lock: you breathe in the mechanical override and opens Pickle jar: no mechanical override to be exploited This lock: opens with a butter knife Pickle jar: tried it with a knife, i'd like my eye back Conclusion: put your important documents in a pickle jar
Actually, the bashing it on a table works for a pickle jar too. Turn it upside down and bang the lid flat on a table. That allows air to get in and releases the vacuum pressure, so it will open then with a twist on its lid.... Just like the masterlock safebox. Blister packs are the most secure non-security based products I've ever seen. You risk damaging the product with its own packaging. I hate them
@@remy5405 nope. It lets air in and releases the pressure caused by the vacuum when it's sealed in the factory. When you bang the lid flat upside down like I said, the popper thing on top of the lid pops up, telling you that it's been opened before you've opened it because you've now let air in. Don't under - estimate the power of air pressure. Remember the old trick with micro-switches in car door locks being opened with tennis balls?
Aaron Wade I literally had this precise safe next to my bed when watching this, that I had lost the key for and was out of battery (these things have the battery life of about a month), and sure enough, I was able to drop it on it’s side and reclaim about 120 and several hundred spare coins
No, don’t you see, it’s a feature. If it runs out of battery or you’re locked out for some reason, just a quick knock on the side and open it right up! Master lock truly has thought of everything!!
Remember those meme comments like, “Next time he’s gonna opens a lock by breathing on it”? I’m 99% sure there was a comment a while back saying, “Opening a lock by dropping it”. And he just did that...
LPL: The metal case is so thin, you can pry this open with your bare hands. Me: Oh no LPL: ...But there are at least 3 easier ways to get in. Me: *_O H N O_*
I survived the horrors of the garage, you kids don't understand melted children and that's not even the worse part they have a battery to make you spill your guts, they call it the RAMSET.
because locking it simply doesn't require a key, no matter how good the lock is (except for maybe a few exceptions like cores that need to be picked multiple times)
"Let's go to the garage and I'll show you how that's done" *Transition* (*Does it instantly*) *Transition* "Ok, we're back" Love it, no nonsense, just pure lock humiliation
They want fifty bucks for this thing! I can just imagine feeling secure as I lock up my valuables in my motel room, and coming back after dinner to find the empty box lying on the floor. No forced entry. Incredible.
@@theuncalledfor I had a toy safe as a kid. I eventually realized I could open it by pulling the knob towards me while turning it. At the right number, the door would open slightly, at which point I would just turn the knob the other way, again, pulling the knob towards me, and eventually the door would open.
Just earlier today I got reminded of this stupid saying, and instantly thought of a small change: If you have a key that can open any lock, you have a master key. If you have a lock that can be opened by any key, you have a Master Lock.
@@ciarangale4738 I think it goes, "If you have a key that can open many locks, it is a good/master key, but if you have a lock that opens with many keys, it is a bad lock."
I saw this on an earlier video, literally the same joke. Though I suppose with this many people watching a YTer open Masterlock locks, the joke is bound to be made.
lpl saved me a decent bit of money on a locksmith, i had lost the keys for a door but instead of getting a locksmith to remove it, i bought some lockpicks and got good enough with them to do it myself in under a week. thanks for making it look easy enough for me to think "i bet i could do that"
Watched tons of videos on how to open that sucker, mostly posted by kids. Not sure what's up with that. Finally your trick of smacking it on side worked! You saved my day! Thanks!
Have Masterlock considered selling 2$ stickers that say "Please don't steal my stuff"? About as effective as their lockbox, and the margin for profit is higher.
"hmm, masterlock, maybe this one will be better..." 10s into the video: "It would be hard to overstate how insecure this product is" I mean, at this point are they even trying?
Oof! It seems MasterLock have been demoted from _"look how easy I can defeat this lock!"_ to _"look in HOW MANY ways I can defeat this lock!"_ This must be a new all-time low even for MasterLock.
A lock designed with three different “official” ways to open it seems like one nobody really wants to keep closed. That’s without even considering all the “informal” methods, like dropping it, prying it apart, slapping it hard, visualization, flattery, and no doubt other strategies I haven’t thought of yet.
I've been telling everyone with an ear to listen. Master Lock's standards are backwards. The "best" is the worst. So that's why all their locks are shit. They don't make good locks, they only make inversely rated, bad ones. :D
That tapping on the side was definitely the coolest trick. I bought a storage locker that had one of these “safes” in it a few months ago, I got in by punching the lock cylinder into the safe with the butt end of my multi tool. Only took one good hit because the lock cylinder was held on by a plastic board. FYI, nothing of value inside, surprise surprise
This so-called """safe""" sums up all the vulnerabilities we've seen on similar products on this channel. Must be a good revision video for Safe Design 101.
When i bought my bike (used) there was a bike lock without a key. The lock wasn't attached to the tires so it was only bad in a sense of looking. After a few of your videos I was interested if I could open it. I build myself a tool to press down the keys out of the metal ring where you attach your keys and I used a screwdriver to provide some tension. I was a bit shocked who easy it was to open this lock even when it is a cheap one. But thank you for your great videos to teach me how to pick a lock
I have watched so many LPL vids, I can get a rough estimate of how easy something is picked by the total run time of a video. This video is one of the shortest and most of the short ones are about Masterlock. Imagine how much less content we would have without poor old Masterlock.
My favourite thing about LPL is that he uploads first thing in the morning, and I can quickly enjoy his videos before I leave for work. No need to put it in the "Watch Later" playlist.
I am quite impressed by this one. Masterlock really excell at creating locks with as many flaws as possible. There was at least one thing I missed, though - hinges weren't screwed on or pinned externally.
Well, it's not the "opening a Master Lock using another lock" that I've been requesting, but I guess it'll have to do...for now. Anyhow, great video. Glad I found this channel. I find it very entertaining.
I have learned many useful and important things from this channel, the most important being to never use anything by Master Lock on anything I want to keep.
@@jeremypnet While it is true that he didn't demonstrate it, this "safe" has a solenoid and that means it can probably be opened with a magnet. Perhaps he thought it was already embarrassing enough?
I see Master Lock in the title and just start laughing incontrollably now. I swear, one day I'll see one "in the wild" and just gonna chuckle. That'll be a fun one to explain to whoever I'm gonna be with :D -Why are you laughing? -It's a MasterLock lock 😂😂😂 -Ooooooookay, should I help you move into the psych ward?
