hey guys one trick when doing the lunges for beginners that will help you from keeping your knee going past your toe is to take a step backwards rather than forwards to do the lunge, its easier to arrive in the right position this way.

Hi guys! You are the best. I love watching your videos. They are so helpful! I was wondering if you could do videos for people with scoliosis. I know every curvature is different but it'd be nice to hear what exercises are helpful in the setting of scoliosis.

The swing is more of a hip thrust and is therefore a horizontal movement. On the press, the wrist should not be bent. Not much of an issue for light weights but would cause problems when you use heavier KBs.

Hi guys Really like your channel, your unconditioned generosity with your knowledge is impressive. Very interesting to see two experienced physical therapists play with Kettlebells, but your form is all wrong, you had Kettlebell enthusiasts all around the world wincing. Hinge at the hips and keep your wrists straight, and blokes like you should be using much heavier weights at least for the swing. All said in the nicest possible way of course Bob.

physicaltherapyvideo thank you for your reply. In two weeks I’m taking a Kettlebell exam! The Ckt1 held by the IKFF. With the aim of becoming a kb instructor. I got into KB’s through rehabilitation, I snapped my bicep tendon off of my forearm,had 5 months off work suffered major atrophy in my shoulder and arm. The surgeon recommended a change of career! My physio was more positive he gave me a minimum of 6 months intensive rehab. Thanks to a work colleague who is also a Win Chung instructor I discovered Kettlebells just in time. I was back to full strength in four months, achieved at home with loud music and one 16kg kb. I’m 48 yr old tree surgeon and Hedgelayer, the Kettlebell has become a passion and am keen to learn anything and everything relating to Kettlebell use , particularly with regards to physical rehabilitation. So any comments or advice greatly received. Keep up the good work fellas.

What is your opinion the the olympic weightlifting style of squat. In both the front squat and back squat the knees travel past the toes. In every major lift the train they knees travel past the toes. I would really like to get your opinion on this. I train these movements and have zero knee pain.

Swings are WAY more forgiving than deads for many reasons, especially the 1-arm variant. Google "Pavel Tsatsouline Joe Rogan keetlebell" for an excellent explanation.

@Jetblacksmash
@Jetblacksmash 6 лет назад
Ashish Tripathi not sure what you're asking but people typically start out with two kettlebells of different weights depends on how strong you are for a guy I'd say 20 lb for a girl I'd say 10 just for the average person to be safe
@Smudgemom2003
@Smudgemom2003 6 лет назад
Dragon Door & many RKC trainers will suggest for healthy beginners, Female=8kg, Male=16kg. Oddly enough, TOO light of weight can be very dangerous to the upper body/shoulder joint by not forcing you to use hip power.
@reniefuwa
@reniefuwa Год назад
Depends on your relative strength. I started with 10 pounds, but quickly increased weight to where I can use 25 lbs for many exercises

I'm sorry but I don't think you are doing the swing quite right, you are using your arms too much, you are not thrusting the hips enough and not hinging at the hip...it's not a squat down and lift... and Brad, you look like you are quad dominant in your squat which I think is why you chose not to do more than one.

Yes. I love B&B's other videos, and while I don't have B&B's creds, I do use kettlebells a lot and have watched many videos about proper swing form. Proper form with the swing is extremely important. The hips drive the swing. The form shown in this video is way off.

Swings are a hinge movement....not a squat. A zillion old school Russians would faint if the saw this...and current day Pavel. And holding it in rack position, as deno’d, is not correct...both these incorrect moves, as illustrated, can CAUSE injuries.

Jetblacksmash I know! I love these guys...they are so spot on with everything else, but Kettlebells? We should’ve been tipped off when the term “kettleBALLS’’ was use. For those wanting to try KBs, I would suggest RU-vid Steve Cotter, Kettlebell Kings or Patel Tsatsouline.
@Smudgemom2003
@Smudgemom2003 6 лет назад
physicaltherapyvideo Unfortunately, doing a squat instead of the hinge puts an enormous amount of stress on the lower back. I just hate to have this tool used incorrectly. There really isn’t a ‘different way to approach’...there’s only one Kettlebell swing...and that’s with a hinge movement. There is no plan b.
@Jetblacksmash
@Jetblacksmash 6 лет назад
Agreed there is only one way to do a swing Steve Cotter helped me tremendously some of my friends even after a year cannot do a proper swing. I noticed when I watch different physical therapists some of their techniques conflict with each other over time I started coming up with my own philosophy on certain movements. this video could definitely do more harm than good unfortunately

Unfortunately I have to agree. There's probably a point here about specific expertise, that risks getting acrimonious. It's there though. There are lots of areas involved in being the sort of PT that Bob and Brad are, that I have no expertise in. I'm very wary of my sort of PT (the personal trainer sort) who drift beyond their expertise.

You are not doing the kettlebell swings properly. It is a hip hinge and thrusting the pelvis forward, not a bend at the knees and lift up and down.

The swing is a hip hinge. Good form and posture are really important but you guys are doing them wrong. With heavier bells you would hurt something with that form.

You two are amazing....but you are clueless on kettlebells to point you could get someone hurt. Watch videos by Pavel Tsatsouline, RKC, Strong First....some of the original certification experts in the USA. I admire and learn from you both but kettlebells need proper form....and this video is not proper form. I've been using kettlebells for over 20 years. I started with Pavel's instruction material....and have continued to learn. I cringed watching this!!!

Kettlebell swings, cleans, snatches, jerks and other ballistic full body movements need to be repeated hundreds of reps in order to learn proper technique. Please do follow the advices of professional kettlebell lifters and coaches. The technique shown in this video is poor, like these guys are trying them for the first time. If you need a kettlebell coach to start learning ballistic exercises with the kettlebell, please let me know - I have more than 25 years of experience as a coach and kettlebell sport athlete.
