That's one writing choice I always hated about the setup for Picard: it makes no sense to have the entire fleet waiting around for refits and construction in one place, when that'd only *create* logistical logjams and make the evacuation take longer than just getting started with it and ramping up as ships are available.

You have to admit. Some ships in STO are absolutely beautiful and keep the starfleet aesethic

I always loved the Nebula, especially the sensor pod variant. It makes a ton of sense to loiter near the border of a enemy faction with a sensor package, gazing deeeeep into their empire and see what they're doing while safe in federation space. No need to risk anyone for intel. I would imagine the capture of one of those sensor pods would be a huge loss to the federation if a enemy reverse engineered one.

It’s an interesting dichotomy set up between the Klingons and the Romulans. When Praxis exploded and the Klingon home world was endangered, they turned to the Federation for help. Then, when it came time for the Klingons to show the kind of mercy they’d received from the Federation, they chose to turn their backs to the Romulans.

I've always liked the Nebula Class. I felt it fitted in so well to the world of Star Trek. It made a logical sister class to the Galaxy and would have its own niches to fill. The Sutherland is a very nice refit, it modernises the design for the viewer but doesn't go so far as to step out of Trek. The Inquiry class is a sleek design but in my opinion, explaining CGI cost-cutting is like the Klingon forehead situation all over again. No matter how desperate they were, the Federation would never put all its eggs in one basket by having a thousand ships of one design. Because in 5 years' time you might have a thousand ships that, because of a design flaw, have the nacelles ripping themselves off the secondary hull with no way to fix it. Starfleet philosophy would prevent that situation. I really like your videos, you never go off the deep end with wishful thinking. You have a little fun with it but never make fun of it.

I always thought it made a good future version of the Reliant. Just as the Galaxy was a good representation to Kirk's constitution class. I never thought otherwise about it. KAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.

While I wasn’t a fan of the all-Inquiry fleet either, the number of classes Starfleet has always had operating at the same time is bizarrely illogical and, most importantly, negligently inefficient. You want fewer, versatile platforms over dozens of specialized ones for a number of reasons, logistics foremost among them. Compare the approach of the US and Soviet/Russian navies, with the latter more resembling Starfleet. The Soviet/Russian fleets operate numerous destroyer/frigate/corvette classes contemporaneously, while the US Navy solely operates the Arleigh Burke. Which approach has seen more success? The more classes you operate, the more it stretches logistics and the more each individual class suffers. A fleet of all Inquiries has issues, but a fleet with only Inquiries in the cruiser role, with another single class in the light supporting role would make far more sense than the usual Starfleet “we’ll send a fleet of 40 ships representing 35 different classes” approach

What an awesome refit. I've always loved the Nebula Class and seeing how they adapted it to the Sutherland Refit Class I think was a great way of utilizing what was available and needed at that time in Starfleet's history. Even though it is Beta Cannon I did very much enjoy the history and story created for the Class. Thanks again for the entertainment. I always get very excited when I see a new post!

OMG what a gorgeous ship!!! Those nacelle look wicked, sleek, and fast. The color scheme sets it off totally, definitely could see Section 31 with a few of these equipped with an espionage pod and interphasic cloaking device. A beautiful refit for what I thought was already a striking class the Nebula class.

Starfleet gave up rescuing the Romulans after their shipyards were blown up even though they had other ships lying around? Wow. The Romulans helped Starfleet during the dominion war and that's the thanks they get? TriAngulum, am I missing something? If so, please enlighten me.

Standing idly by while the Dominion takes the Federation apart, would only have meant the Romulans would have had to deal with the Dominion later. So helping the Federation was in the Romulans own interet. Helping the Romulans deal with the supernova is an act of mercy that doesn't help Federation at all. On top of that: If the situation were reversed, the Romulans would most likely not have helped the Federation. Besides: We don't know that much about the relations between the Federation and the Romulans after Shinzon, but I guess his plot to bring Enterprise to Romulus under false pretenses and planning to destroy Earth with Thaleron weapons didn't exactly increase the Romulans' popularity with the Federation populace.

It seems to me that the attachable pod structure is one way that Starfleet could (in theory) get around the UFP's hesitancy to commission combat oriented starships. For instance you could launch a Nebula or Sutherland style cruiser one day with a long range sensor or scientific analasys pod and then switch out the default pod for a heavy weapons variety the next. Having multi-pod designs for larger starship varients would be the next logical step.

I guess I thought Romulus had only blown up in the Kelvin timeline. I haven't been able to see the shows but what about the Sovereign class? I agree with others who say Starfleet would not have the whole fleet hanging around Mars; the evacuation could have begun until the time had come to recall the next vessel.
@serina3872

Romulus is only destroyed in the Prime timeline, the Romulans from the 2009 movie are from the Prime timeline Prime Spock tried to save Romulas but failed and he and 2009 Romulans got sucked into a Black hole where they emerged in the past which changed the timeline
