Cloud cover in the morning was expected to break allowing the sun to heat a fairly humid airmass with dew points of around
13-15c. Fronts moving north east would likely create surface
convergence and this would provide a trigger for storms to develop through the afternoon.
I began chasing storms near to Rugby in Warwickshire and followed them all the way to Essex as they developed and increased in coverage into the evening. They were moving fairly quickly and so keeping up with them was not going to prove easy.
